What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Yes, I recognized that she was talking about floaters. That's not the point of my post. I also have floaters and glaucoma. My doctor's warning, which I thought was worth passing along, was that the sudden appearance of dark spots calls for an immediate investigation, because some are not floaters but, instead, signs of a stroke! So Guysmom was doing the right thing when she insisted on a quick trip to see an eye spedialist. Better safe than sorry!
Yes, that is true. The eye doctor also made a point of explaining to us how to be sure and go immediately for help if eyes experience any of those dark spots you mentioned, wales. My biggest concern was his past history. Him??? Pffftttt....he was not concerned....wore me out emotionally.....didn't even feel like making my usual Saturday night desserts, so I didn't!!!

Then I'm glad you got some support here. I figured that he might have been less than grateful. Guys are often like that about being dragged to help.

On my way home from a very pleasant hotel shop I stopped for a pedicure and manicure. All but the "checkout" interaction and the copy of the folio had been done before I left the hotel so I was cruising.

Trying to get our above ground pool going. Finally took the cover off Thursday. One of the hoses had a crack in it, so we got that replaced and put on today. But our pressure gauge is broken and leaking, so we've got to get a replacement for that tomorrow...we'll get there....hopefully before the cold weather sets in...ha ha!!
Rats in a poke! The clerk at the distant store where I bought new walking shoes (not a shop) forgot to remove the security device from the shoes. When I was buying the shoes, it was the height of efficiency because I was on the way to somewhere. Now it is inefficient because I have to go all the way back there after work in yet another city and have my shoes "fixed". I was ready for their inaugural early morning walk. The shoes were not ready. This means that I will not have time to visit a botanic garden or find a new great place for lunch. Oh, well. Maybe I can do those things next week (when I am not fishing, hiking, working on projects, or reading).

Of course, it is all my fault. I did not pay strict attention during the checkout process and I did not notice that the security device was left on the shoe. I was busy searching for my loyalty card, which had disappeared. It was in my wallet no more that three days ago. Now, it is... somewhere.

But the good news is that in addition to the shoes, I got a good news book. Not surprisingly, it is called 'And The Good News Is.. Lessons and Advice From the Bright Side'. Dana Perino describes her optimistic point of view. If I utilize anything from this mindset, I can do a little happy dance because a few fave places in the distant town are open today which were closed when I was there yesterday. I have an additional and unexpected opportunity there. So. Is the shoe thing good, bad, inconvenient, catalyst, or just something to blah-blah about on a message board? grinning smiley

I've had that happen once too often, and it is the salespersons fault 100%. Today, moving furniture for the cleaning crew to clean my carpets....glad when tomorrow comes. Knew I should have put in wood floors throughout, not just downstairs in the living room, but doing stairs cost an arm and a leg, still, should have, could have....

Shopetal - I had that happen once with a blouse. I took it to a local store (different name than the one I bought it at) with my receipt and they removed it for me free. Might be worth a try.
Thanks to all. I returned to the store where I purchased the shoes. The employee was lovely about the situation. While I was there, I got more items that were on my list. I got shoes and bathroom stuff. Now, my feeties and my facilities will look great all the time.

It was a great pleasure to be in the countryside. The area is rural and agricultural. At this time of year, it is exquisite. We took time to locate a new-to-us camping/fishing area. If all goes well, that will be our next outdoor destination. Mother Nature, here we come!

Extra work. Errands. Eyeing potential assignments.

I slept until 11:30 a.m. for the first time in many years...sitting around in my pajamas drinking coffee and contemplating. Eventually it's shower and housework, but I am sure enjoying myself doing nothing!
Busy working for the most part and when I have computer time it's mostly working...but my youngest stepdaughter is home from England for a few weeks and the middle child is coming in from Austin next week so I am slowing down on my work to spend time with them. My youngest is only 23 and has a fabulous job...she is an international warehouse logistics manager and her territories include England, Amsterdam, and Greece, among others. She has been mainly based in England as of late. My middle stepdaughter is doing well too, we miss them both so much. The oldest two kids live in Ohio and we see them pretty often. So proud of them all, good jobs, nice people with good work ethics and big hearts.
Finally got a new phone, I had an IPhone 4S. Apple kept doing things, did not allow updates, I couldn't load some apps for some MSC. I went with a Galaxy 8, there was no way I was getting another IPhone with their shinanigans. I'm lovin it so far.
I love Android. Free apps and so many of them to choose from! I know iPhone's are very good, hubby has one and loves his, but me and 3 of the kids are Android users.
Except for 1 grocery shop, I think I'll spend most of today trying to nurse a head cold. Don't you just hate it when you can't blow your nose because your ears make all this crackling sound and it hurts?? I took a Sudafed this morning...hope that helps!
Today is an exercise walk this morning, a shop and homework.

Project: move a boatload of really heavy stuff from point a to point b, where it will be accessible for sorting.

Today is free meaning shopping (window) sales and such...then another BJ's for a take out dinner, oh what to have, salad sounds good, they have the best BBQ Chicken salad. Later (maybe) I want to start cleaning out my garage and giving things away, have service for four pewter dishes to decide on what to do with, was an Anniversary gift when married, time has come to find them a new home or not!! Think I will list them on our town buy and sell community on Facebook.

I am proud to say I made potato chips that would last a year. My daughter likes eating chips but I prefer homemade. So, I buy about 30 pounds of potatoes every year, slice, blanch, dry them up and store it for the whole year. DH always helps. Took two days but was worth the effort. Went to a trampoline park today and there was a deal for dads who jump free. Lunch at Roti and back home.
I did a shop at Roti last month. It was my first time eating there. I was beyond disappointed. How does garlic sauce not taste like garlic??

Going to vote, then taking a housemate for a long overdue birthday lunch at a famous deli near home and, a last stop to pick-up a few items at Aldi (Not a shop.)

This is a day when the heat index and air quality will be well into the danger zone, so very little outdoor exertion seems like a good idea. My next 14 shops all have very flexible due dates, so I have the luxury of deciding at the last moment whether I will be working or not.

Going for my bone density (DEXA) scan today. Two years ago it was -2.0, which put me in the osteopenia range. If it hits -2.5, then you're classified as having osteoporosis. Right now, I'm on year 4 of 5 years of taking Arimidex to prevent my estrogen positive breast cancer from returning. The Arimidex leeches the minerals out of the bones as one of its side effects. So 2 years ago, I started taking 7000-7500 IU of Vit D3 a day, along with my Calcium and Glucosamine. 4 months ago I started taking Vit K2, which is different from regular Vit K, in that its purpose is to make sure the Calcium goes into the bones, and not into the arteries!!! So we'll see how my DEXA turns out today!
After work today, I tracked down my tax refund.

I did a tax shop in February. The refund was sent directly to my bank. Per shop requirements, I had to request a paper check.

It turns out, the bank that was being shopped had my refund deposited into their account. Luckily, the tax preparer was able to track this. The refund was significant.

Wrote about selling my beautiful Pewter dishes received for an Anniversary years ago, went through the box in the garage and still love them, so, washed them and brought them upstairs, certain things I can't part with, Pewter, daughters prom dress, oh well, I tried. Did nothing but straighten up, cook, bought a bathing suit at Target which is horrible on, but cute on the hanger....lesson learned, no bathing suits for me, over and done.

I had a DEXA test done two weeks ago. Have not heard the results yet, so I'm sticking my head in the sand and saying no news is good news. Since my last test revealed osterpenia I've upped my weight bearing exercises, including choosing to carry my filled shopping bags through the grocery stores instead of using a cart. We'll see if that helped.
