I just returned from Trader Joe's where I had a great lesson about foods from the Manager (who knows me), not as a shopper, as a customer and I'll pass on a bit (not all) I learned.
Canada is the only place that has no GMO in any of their foods. Soy is not good for you. Companies are still putting bad oils in food. Shrimp from Argentina is the best as their waters are pure, as are fish from Alaska and Northern waters. Do not buy any fish from Mexico.The Gulf waters had a bad oil spill a few years ago and their Lobster isn't half of what it used to be. Lesson over, enjoy your day.

@kimmie,
Yes, however they also get shrimp from other places, so check on package. I bought a bag (9.99) from Argentina and will have them tonight, they look gorgeous. The Manager (Trader Joe's) said they taste like Lobster...stayed tuned.
Well, what a day! At about 3 pm, while we were at our friend's daughter's graduation reception, hubby casually mentions to me that he has been seeing black spots come in front of his right eye for the past 3 hours, since noon! And HE drove!! Anyhow, he has a history about 10 years ago of a benign, yet very dangerous brain tumor that required 8 1/2 hours of surgery...he did great, recovered fully, and all has been fine since then, but you just never know! PLUS....it could mean some sort of retinal issue, since it popped up out of nowhere just today! He had his regular eye exam just 3 months ago, and all was great! So I called his optometrist, who is at a local Walmart vision center, and he had left earlier in the day. They recommended calling another local Walmart vision center, which I did. They agreed to see hubby if I could get him there by 4:15....this was at 3:20, and we were about 35 miles away! So I said I'd get him there, and did so. Turns out that the spots are indeed just "floaters" that come about as we all age. The optometrist was wonderful, understanding, and did a thorough job of examining his eyes...they're still a bit dilated!! It was more of a concern to me than hubby, and more of a relief, too!! He's just relaxing and watching a baseball game on TV now.@guysmom wrote:
Going to a graduation celebration for the daughter of some friends of ours, who graduated from high school. It's that time of year!
Irene, Yes, The optometrist explained that we all have this "jelly"-like liquid in our eyes, and as we get older, it shrinks! When it does, it can break loose in small tiny pieces, and what we see as black dots are the shadows caused by these dots as they "float" by the part of the eye responsible for what we see. I hope I explained that right. He said it was a good idea to get it checked, just to be sure there were no injuries to the retina or rest of the eyes. Yes, not dangerous, but get checked if any noticeable change in the type or amount of "floaters" that show up. If he suddenly sees a bunch of shapes that look like cobwebs, for instance, to get it checked again if it's before his regular checkup time. I suppose my biggest concern is that he doesn't try swatting these "small bugs" around while he's driving!! haha ... sounds comical, but I'm sure it can be distracting. But hopefully, they will slow down somewhat over time.@Irene_L.A. wrote:
@guysmom....I get (what we call) floaters, black spots almost looking like a small bug, many of them flying around. This in itself is not dangerous, my eyes are a mess, 5 drops daily (don't ask). I don't know what causes it, but it is annoying. Could just be eye strain.
