What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Took car in, just needed fluid...grocery shopping at Sprouts and waiting for a call from a shopper doing a route in Vegas and then L.A. Hoping to meet him, he called and said he'd try to get in...otherwise home and everyday stuff like paying bills.....

Projects. Following the "Roseanne" hullabaloo here because I do not watch tv or do social media. (How else would I know that protected [albeit heinous] speech was squelched? If the late Reverend Phelps was allowed to spew his ideas, so should Roseanne be allowed to express her views. If we want to be allowed to express our views, we need to let other people express their views. Otherwise, eventually there will be only one or two points of view for everyone. Nonetheless, this issue is not sufficient to inspire me to do social media. it only energizes me to promote the idea of free expression, even if I don't like the content or manner of expression.) Now that I am off of the soap box, I can return it to the laundry room and do my laundry,.

Irene, that is a good question. Many lifetimes ago, I had a teacher who tested us on our ability to keep up with current affairs. One day, we were asked who won a baseball game. Another day, we were asked about a religious event. If we could not answer these questions, we lost points on our tests.

Irene, when did you start thinking that I "never know what's going on"?

I do not watch tv and I do not do social media. I utilize other resources. I did not state how I feel about social media.

Along with snide remarks, NPR provided the exact comment and context that started the chain of events that led to the cancellation of the Roseanne show. At least that report was short and sour.

Now, there is an online flurry of accusations regarding President Trump and Disney. Trump alleges a double standard and demands an apology. Could this be the gist of this hoo-haa? It takes awhile to wade through the various presentations and identify basic facts. If there is a double standard, there is a problem. With this problem, there could be no clear or consistent policy. Perhaps more information will come to light about that.

Just taking a break from shops for a few days before getting started on June shops. Catching up with shopper friends off-forum, doing a little laundry, bank deposit, prepping a large load of donations for the ladies' shelter, banking and grocery stops, maybe a mani-pedicure.

Going to the mountains. Purchasing storage supplies which will streamline the last of the huge projects. Starting the hunt for table linens. I love (and therefore must have, haha) vintage pieces.

Irene, As I read kimmie's post, I remembered a fabulous vintage dress. The lace, the line, the fabric... but it was for a tall, thin person. Alas.

Honny,

Aww. smiling smiley

Today, deciding what to do with a vintage lace tablecloth from my Mother that my daughter will never use......100 years old and like new, was saved for special dinners, and really gorgeous...may have to be buried with it. May call auction house.
Weather amazing, will hit 80%, plan on a walk later.

The day before yesterday, I forgave a person who caused me a great deal of pain. I feel unbelievably free? It was such a powerful move on my part, that it affected me physically and mentally for 2 days. It wasn't verbal or face to face. I sent him a text which he never responded to. That's fine, because I did it for me!

Good for you, forgiveness is always done for one's self, and yes it is freeing and takes a big person to do it.

My day started out normally but went down the tubes late in the morning when I found out my 29 year old niece unexpectedly passed away. Spent the rest of the day in a fog with no ambition whatsoever.

Camping. Woo!

This is my fun and bliss between projects. After the major home projects are completed, I will consider an additional year of mystery shopping, etc. I fell behind at home because I acepted too many assignments away from home. But this thread is about life balance, which means that I could complete fewer assignments.

*eta* Not camping. Just looking for flora, fauna and no _;:7%!$ traffic.

Oh I so agree with the freedom of speech. As a result, the person that you work for has the freedom of firing. It's the circle of life. Now she is free to be free and say whatever she wants. But just a word of wisdom DON'T talk ( at least openly on twitter) about annihilating kittens when your boss is a cat lover. And never use racial, gender, cultural derogatory stereotypes when the person who can hire or fire you in a part of the subculture that you are talking about.
It would be like Samatha Bee, keeping her job after calling Ivanka names if she worked for the White House or directly for Donald Trump.

ALL,
Never use racial or gender stereotypes because perhaps that will mark you as unfit for almost any responsible position in the eyes of most folks.

Also, never forget that the family or "loved circle" of someone listening to you is not visible to you; You never know the races, religions, countries of origin, etc. that pertain to that person's grandkid, daughter-in-law, beloved godparent/godchild, mentor, life-saving organ donor, or best friend Best of all, just don't "diss" humanity; stones WILL be cast.

Since the camping was curtailed, I am at home and productive. Productive: multitasking and especially sorting books into the read soon, donate, and read later categories. When time permits, I will process wonderful pics of fabulous critters. Because I left early, I also got sunset pics. This was the rich peachy-orange type of sunset. It's the third best clothing and makeup color for me. Next week, or the following week, or possibly tomorrow, I will get some foliage shots that I missed by leaving early. This means more time in mountains. Maybe I should live in the mountains.
