What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Years and years ago, I had a situation like that, but it was not math and a tangible computer. It was me. For whatever reason, I crushed everything up to the final and then... ended up with a B for the course. At that time, I was not a perfectionist and did not care very much. These days, The Inner Perfectionist Would Have A Tantrum If Something Like That Ever Happened.

I still love the subject, and I have a part-time job that relates to it. It's okay.

Cooking; finishing some reports; daydreaming over hotel and Airbnb reviews for Amsterdam, Cologne and Dusseldorf; trying to decipher timetables for day cruises on the Rhine. I am trying to see if I can budget for an autumn 2019 trip to Switzerland with a few stops along the way.

Spent two hours walking through a local thrift store, and ended up getting two casual, collared jerseys, as mine are wearing out! Good for wearing around the house. So into the laundry basket they go until I wash clothes. Going to make some fresh blueberry muffins in a few minutes, using 3 grains: almond meal, oat flour, and flax meal. Nice combo of flavors when they're all baked up!
Recovering from food poisoning. I did a restaurant shop at a place I really enjoy, the food tasted great but about 1 p.m. my hubby and I both got sick...we both had the burgers and it's such a shame since they tasted so good going down. It must have been an incidence of cross-contamination, maybe someone didn't wash their hands and change gloves or they were cutting raw meat with the same knife as produce or on the same cutting board, something like that. Feeling better now but I haven't had the "guts" to eat ANYTHING since then...I think I will open a can of soup and see how it goes.
So sorry Jas hoe you and yor hubby feel better soon. I am still working on my candy displays. For the evening I am about to go to a food show, I made a fruit salad with poppy dressing . I will let yu know if I win a prize
School is almost out... I'm going to go home and take a nap.... I picked up a few extra shops last night and am now regretting the serious lack of sleep.

Hard work builds character and homework is good for your soul.
JAS, wow, that's awful! By any chance, did they place any romaine lettuce on the burgers??? The romaine from the AZ area is the one with the Ecoli causing all the problems. Hope you and your hubby feel back to normal very soon!!

Kimmie, thanks....they are delicious!!
We're okay, but weird to not want to eat...the brain is so powerful in quashing hunger pains when it suspects the system is in danger. I actually think it was Iceberg, and I am doubting it was e-coli because we recovered quickly. I def know it wasn't stomach flu. I think maybe just a food safety issue with cross contamination, and thank goodness it wasn't worse.
Wowza. I am reporting ever better health. I still don't have enough voice to do jobs where people need to hear me (What was that? What did you saaaaaayyyyyy?), but I am better and better in other ways. All is well.

I know e-coli is an epidemic with Romaine lettuce, been all over the news. I bought some then threw it away.
Will you tell the restaurant? Good health to all that are suffering....

I'm sure it wasn't e-coli. The symptoms weren't that severe. And no, since it was a shop and I had already submitted a few hours earlier, I contacted the MSC to let them handle it. Since we didn't go to the doctor there's no proof anyway, but what would be the point? I know it for what it was, and I love the restaurant and I am reasonably sure it was an isolated incident.

Good choice. Months of inadequate sleep and missed Sabbaths turned me into an ambulatory wad of bronchial crud. Please, please take good care of yourself!

My largest MSC client will release all May shops for this region this morning. I wiil be watching to claim about 20 just to get started. It is nice that this MSC posts its best fee right from the get-go, every month, and gives its "regulars" first choice before releasing unclaimed shops on a job board. May needs to be a "light" MS month because I will be at IMSC for 4 days and also out for some extensive dental work. I can pick-up in-fill shops later in the month when that MSC gets special orders and/or from other MSCs. Then it will be a day of laundry, grocery shopping, cooking and finishing a couple of short reports. If this rain ever lets up, there may also be a quick run to a garden center for a few annuals for the deck garden and some planting and mulching supplies. If the rain continues, I will play with my rail maps of Germany and Switzerland, and on-line rail time tables and Trip Adviser lodging reviews for that area.

Today will check out a newly renovated older area of town where they will open two areas of entertainment, a theater called "The Main" will have live plays, music and performances , and in July will have music events at
"Concerts in the Park" for free. Foo Fighters and many well known will perform there on days they're not performing in L.A. I had lunch and saw the main guy of Foo Fighters (he lives up here) with his wife, very nice looking.....we're growing leaps and bounds, with a famous Independent movie theater that is in Santa Monica. Main St. has stars in the street (like Hollywood) of famous western stars like Roy Rogers, William s. Hart who has a museum and park named after him. Great new restaurants, and very quaint, did a good job, like walking into another era, yahoo..... My town has work permits in competition with L.A., where it doesn't take long and is less $$, so many films shot here, especially Western's as well as CSI. Disney is also opening up another headquarters here, and real estate is booming.,,,,love when that happens. Doing a big box on the way home.

Lovin' this day! I found a new topic to explore... In addition to likely or identified factors in substance abuse, do some people turn to substances or become unable to take them or leave them simply because they do not like where they live and feel trapped there or are powerless with regards to making their situation better for themselves? Mind you, it will take hours to find out if anyone has looked at this one thing, but it intrigues me. I think it is alluded to in general psycho-social factors, but so far I have not found it as a clearly identified factor for some persons. Perhaps it shows up in individual therapies and world views? It does relate to co-dependence, which is an identified broad-based factor. But it is necessary to move on now because if I kept on, I would have to reword the thing as if it were being presented for possible funding. And, we would not want to that, would we. Later today, we will participate in a nature study. This one is part of a larger study spanning several states and years. Eventually, it may be known just how/whether specific conditions have adversely impacted critter populations. Even though many species adapt well and defy the dire predictions of some environmental impact studies, little is known about the species we are considering today. It will be good to find out whether the populations can carry on as is or not.

(All these things are one way to honor the recent deaths of my folks. After each graduation, Dad reminded me that the rest of my education was just beginning. Mom's entire life view was sufficient to turn assorted ideas on their heads and cause people to think. Sometimes, they changed their minds about critical issues. Long live education! Forever live the edit feature!!!!!)

I went to church this morning. The reverend who preached, her three year old granddaughter was accidentally shot by her mother. Needless to say, her sermon was very powerful.

After church, I went to Total Wines and got my wine for the week.

After the wine run, I went to Chipotle. They really need their mystery shoppers.

HonnyBrown, that is intriguing, and you have given no clues. I must ask. Was the sermon powerful because of Psalm 27:10, a plea for gun control, a caution for gun safety, or something else?
