Wales, my husband and I did a 10-day trip from Eastport, Maine (the Easternmost point of the U.S.) to Deer Island, New Brunswick, then to St. John's, and then took a ferry boat (huge ferry that can hold semi trucks) across the Bay of Fundy to Nova Scotia. We saw so many cool things on that trip, like the pilot whales in the Bay of Fundy while on the ferry. There is a whirlpool called Old Sow, which is the largest whirlpool in the western hemisphere and the second largest in the world. There is a vertical tide change of 50 feet in the Bay of Fundy. We saw the tidal bore in the Salmon River where the tide rushes up into the river and causes the river to flow backwards. We saw a bald eagle from about 10 feet away when we were hiking...he was in a tree and we could feel the whoosh from his wings as we startled him and he flew away. We went to the Dutch Mason Blues Fest and saw Johnny Lang, Robert Cray, Johnny Winter, James Cotton, and more. During intermission, they loudly announced that the Canadian Mounties would be walking through and encouraged the crowd to please put out their marijuana cigarettes, LOL. We went to Peggy's Cove and had steamed lobster that we picked out of the tank ourselves for $3.99 CAD per pound and sat outside on the deck with a view of the cliffs and the lighthouse across the water. We finished up with two days in Halifax, saw the tall ships in the harbor, ate great food and listened to Hibernian music drinking beer in the pubs with the locals. It was probably one of the best vacations we ever went on. Enjoy yourself!
