What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Five quick easy shops, overtime at work will take most of the day, may have 30 minutes of daylight when I get home. Go in the back yard and relax with the dogs for awhile. It's become one of my favorite rituals.

Worrying about my daughter who is working in New York with the New York Times staff and due to weather afraid she wouldn't get home, when I get a text telling me how great her job went and she took two days more and went to see a play ("Angels in America" with Nathan Lane"winking smiley with her friend that lives in Greenwich Village and they celebrated her B-day...she had a ball...I need to stop worrying already...smiling smiley

So I finished my recent gig. This was possible only because I integrated an assistant (with permission!) and made a few other adaptations for the back and the knees. I felt equally badly and wonderful about what I did. What I want, ultimately, is for others who are right for this type of job to be able to sit if necessary instead of being required to stand for many hours. I do not know if that will happen. I know that there are great personalities out there in people who are afraid to use a chair because they fear being viewed as lazy, lame, or otherwise undesirable. I wish these people felt emboldened to bring a chair so that their wonderful personalities could shine during the jobs. It is okay for me to do this job. My boring personality is the perfect foil for the overwhelming color scheme. This is one way to get the job done, and there are some bright and successful moments in my lad back approach. But the right, bright personality would make the whole thing pop. (Sometimes I think I should be a job yenta and match workers with jobs...)

Today will be quiet, return at Macy's, browse mall, Sprouts, rained last two days, very cold (40ish) mornings, then warms up. Don't work till Thursday and then Sunday...no news is good news!!

Clean the car, take a nap, and finish a book. I have one little shop that works well if I look like a scumbag, so will pick up a few grunge pieces for the shop and then use them as layers for the early a.m. (really @$@# cold) job. Sometimes, grunge is just the thing... grinning smiley

It's supposed to rain most of the day, so I'll be walking at the mall before my two shops today. Completing the housework I didn't get to yesterday, and coming up with a healthy side dish to serve with leftover pizza for dinner.

Lots of errands: drop off car at body shop and collect free rental car there (insurance covers accident damage and rental car); drop dry cleaning; 2 different grocery stores; wine shop. Also, a telephone training conference this AM to qualify for a flock of easy investment shops. Finally, folding and storing lots of clean laundry.

I'm so happy you are liking the frozen bananas! I still have to make my through all of the flavors of frozen banana "ice cream" but I absolutely love them in my smoothies.
I have to finish my taxes. I keep telling myself that I am going to keep up better throughout the year so it's not quite a chore but....

Well, I've been eating one frozen banana a day for a few days now since I read about this in the Forum from Kimmie, JAS, among others. Banana is no longer my least favourite fruit.

Finally, my income tax is now filed.

Irene, I don't think we ever really stop worrying about our children, do we? Regardless of how old we are or they are?? My son will be 30 in May, and I still worry at times about him, and his beautiful family. I think it's something in us as parents. But you know, things usually work out OK, for which I'm grateful!

Anyhow, today I think I'm going to venture over to the DMV and get my driver's license renewed...gotta get it done by the 30th, and I don't have much else planned, so if I have to stand in line a while, that won't be a problem.
This is the first of three mostly free days. Huzzah! After that, I will work for four days and then the rest of the month is mine. Mine, I say!

Work, bank to get a new debit card. Mine was compromised, second time in 3 years. Thankfully it was caught with the first attempted purchase. It's never been out of my possession. It had to be from a gas pump or online purchase. Fast dinner and may I'll work on the hem.
Happy Wednesday! I started the day by finishing a book and moved on to a little research project. Figuring I would finish that in an hour or so, I settled in for a little reading. But no. This topic has many tentacles, and it will keep me busy for a few days! Since I am shop-free for a few days, I will just continue learning about the original topic and its offshoots. Fear not. I will not report back to the forum.

Happy Thursday! My world is a fun place today. I have old music, new books, and numerous articles.

I'm becoming inundated by the details of several non-shopping projects that come due in the next few weeks. Time to start reminding myself that doing only one thing at a time really does lead to the best results.

I'm updating my MS spreadsheet and watching Scandal.

For my spreadsheet, I realized that I was not separating my reimbursements from the fees. My total pay was linked to my summary page. I had to add another link for my fees only.

Dog tired. Woof!

Springtime is here. I do not care what the human calendar says. I observe critters. They are on the move! Springtime things are happening! Some snowbirds are going to their second homes; others are serenading me (well, themselves) with the springtime songs.

If all goes well, I will have time to observe them in various locations. This is one of my goals for this year.

Have to drive and drive to the city, ugh, but once I get there, fun (for me) job at a Parisian boutique looking for a $1700.00 handbag, and trying on a 2500.00 outfit. Have to "dress up nicely", for those that think you never have to dress while shopping, the instructions heavily state to dress nicely. The Parisians and all are very critical.
Then will spend some time browsing and window shopping, with a lunch in between.....my kind of town L.A. is...smiling smiley
Playing rich is fun.....should I start a "go to fund" for the handbag?

LOL! Please don't...

Perhaps those hypercritical folks need a Bach Remedy called Beech. Beech helps us when we are too critical, nasty, snooty, or otherwise in need of a little humanity.

Meanwhile, my planned day is not happening, but the unanticipated changes are making the day great for me. I like this. I had an opportunity to take care of a few errands and I had an opportunity to play on the forum for a few minutes between jobs. Yay. smiling smiley

Today it's happily raining...I have an easy INN@Out burger, can order anything, so.....later going to a movie, "The Showman". Home to do stuff, and watch more movies. Speak to daughter tonight, Sunday night check in we established many years ago....I sent her a care package, her response will be, Mom, I don't need anything, but, she's my baby, don't ya know?

Productive. I have finished nine projects. Mind you, there are about nine hundred more of them, but it seemed like a good idea to celebrate this much improvement. Huzzah!

Cooking! And finishing up some reports for this week.
Made a big batch of breakfast burritos to freeze.
Made a big batch of homemade cat food for the critter.
Got free chips from the grocery store today so made some rotel dip to go along with them.
If I have time after reports and a short run I might make homemade pizzas to freeze.

Had a surprise visit from oldest daughter and grandchild, and my college kid is in town. My maternal side is in bliss lol. Fantastic times. Took out a ham and made some mac n cheese. Will be taking one of my dogs to vet in morning. Anyone ever had a dog with allergies and ear drainage? I have tried every homemade remedy I see, all with limited success.
Great day. Road trip, lots of critters, perfect weather. It is almost porch weather (when I can be out there for more than one minute and without parkas & blankies). And this makes me wonder if I could create my own kinds of mystery shops. For example, I could test blankies and parkas at different times of day, in different weather conditions, and with certain types of books. For example, does the reader feel warmer when reading Hawaii than when reading Alaska, regardless or weather, blankie, and/or parka?

Today will include a huge trip to Costco. My housemate and I share a membership that is due for renewal in April. We figured out that we only go to Costco about every 4-5 months. So, instead of renewing in April, we will buy today about 6-8 months supply of what we rely upon Costco prices for. When those supplies run out we will THEN buy a new one year membership, if we have not found enough good, well priced substitutes from other sources.

. Now that we have an Aldi store within 1.5 miles of home we are discovering more and more Aldi things that beat Costco prices (often by a LOT) and do not require serious bulk purchases (and home storage space). In addition, We are buying much more of our weekly groceries at Aldi and about 1/3 less at the traditional, regional chain, large grocery store that is 1 mile from home. The DC Metro area has traditionally had some of the highest grocery prices in the nation, and Aldi is really shaking things up here. About time!

Waiting on Lowe's to deliver the fridge and stove for the new apartment. Meanwhile took a trip to the gym and now cooking (burgers to freeze, smoking a turkey breast, and grinding another turkey breast to make turkey burgers out of). Reports this afternoon from shops late last week and yesterday and if I have time I'll make the pizza pies to freeze that I didn't have time for Sunday.

This was an interesting week. On Tuesday I had a shop that started after 7pm. I get home from work at 5pm. So I wouldn't turn into a vegetable in two hours, I went to see The Black Panther.

Last night, my school had a MeetUp at 630 near work. I get off at 4pm. I went to The International Spy Museum. The event was held at the museum.
