What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

I have a very good friend who's husband says he doesn't want to be a burden to anyone, and will move to Oregon if CA doesn't pass the "right to die" law. My friend is depressed over this, but again, it's about choice.
Today I drove the freeway for the first time, and hated it, never again will I take jobs that require freeway driving.
So over it.....and had to write one of the few negative reports on a cashier I've written with this company. Looking for something else to keep me busy, but days are good for the most.

Working at the regular job, going to a HEB Plus for some cheese I don't usually buy and to look around, decide on supper and a little Netflix.
Went to Sprouts, home making barley/carrot soup, watching the Kardashians (kinda) while waiting for my Lifetime movie to come on. Taking it easy, light house work, my development has walking trails, hopefully, I'll walk later, so, eat, T.V., computer and phone calls. Watched Big Brother with Amorosa the last three nights, interesting to hear her talk about the White House, although I don't believe her, she's so into everything for the money.

Been trying to finish some work and other things , plus make sure my.eye drops have by put in three times today. I have cataract surgery Monday
Contemplating the meaning of life. Having a fun day. Work, "work" (easy app shop), and museum. We have been proclaiming for decades that 'next time we're down here, we should go to the museum'. So, today we are going down there and visiting the museum. I think this place is shopped, but I will not attempt to shop it until after I am familiar with it and have had my personal experiences there. (At that time, it won't matter to me if I only focus on timings, interactions, and observations.)

Alieda, good luck with your eyes. smiling smiley

Good luck.

Alieda, You will do fine! Hubby has had cataract surgery twice....almost routine now-a-days! We went out to breakfast afterwards both times! Biggest pain is putting in the eye drops several times a day for a couple of weeks. But now his vision is 20/20.....good thing, too....he's an official high school league baseball umpire!! Come back and let us know how it went!

Went to church....came home and made some homemade stew....caring for hubby who has some sort of viral thing right now...don't believe it's the flu....keeping him pumped full of echinacea, vit c, cough med, tylenol, ibuprofen, and LOTS of TLC!! He's doing better!!
After lunch my stomach started churning so I erred on the side of caution and passed on my book study group. I've spent the time puttering around the house, doing the non-New York Times Sunday crossword puzzle, and playing on the computer. Now I'm watching the Olympics until it's time to go to bed.

So Alieda, KathyG, and guysmom's hubby are in thoughts and prayers. Hope you will be better than ever, soon! I never made it to the museum. I experienced a bit of city life, had flashbacks to previous experiences of city life, and had an epiphany. I no longer can deal with cities. I have become a rural lover. I really don't know what that means, except that I would rather be closer to wild critters and untouched open spaces than to cities and fabricated "open spaces" and caged critters, such as in zoos and parks. Long live the wide open spaces!

Well, looks like I'll be taking hubby in to CVS Minute Clinic to see if he has the flu....poor baby! Then later today, just one grocery shop for MF.
I remember living in the hills, not rural as there was a mall 2 miles away, but rural for my upbringing. We built the house in the hills and while it was a great place to raise a family, I remember seeing a possum and the wild coyotes that got my small dog....been there done that, do like deers, but we didn't have any, and thank the lord I'm a city girl, give me civilization, the good, the bad and the ugly.. Today more of the same,, no work, maybe I finally am done, except tomorrow, I have a nice healthy sandwich/salad place, and the way work has gone this month, it's a good thing. Different strokes for different folks.

I love both cities and the country. I prefer living in a small town as it has the advantages of cities without the fumes, traffic and congestion. I live in a small town and I live right in the heart of the quaint and busy little downtown. I still have possums, raccoon and lots of snakes. I'm just now getting over a bad ear infection so I haven't done a lot. I hope everyone is hanging in there. February is almost done.
I'm lucky to have the best of both worlds. I could actually walk to the grocery store, tons of shopping is within a five minute drive and downtown STL is only 25 minutes away. Despite that I have a ton of wildlife. The largest predator is usually just a coyote, but there are reports of the occasional mountain lion. We don't hear too much about pets going missing. When it happens it is usually someone new the area or someone who doesn't get it, like my next door neighbor who thought it would be a great idea for their pet rabbit to get some fresh air. Luckily it was in a cage and they got to it before the hawk sitting on top figured out how to open the latch.

I had my catarack opertion today . We had to leave the house about 5 to get to Tulsa at 7.40 for the opertion. It went very well m tomorrow I go for a check up. Post op.
This morning I'm doing the Shake Shop training. All the parking close to the restaurant is metered, but I have a spot several blocks away that I park at whenever I do a shop in that neighborhood. Today it will be a sunny but brisk walk which I'm looking forward to.

Since tomorrow is Ash Wednesday (a day of fasting for Catholics) tonight Hubby and I are going out for what we're calling a Fat Valentine's dinner.

Work. Errands. More work. Contemplating the meaning of Lent.

Home puttering until my sandwich lunch shop, will get enough for dinner. Home/report and computer. Applied for two cosmetics shops next week, close to my best friend...hopefully will make plans to see one another, have been a hermit lately. Lucky for my location, privacy and stimulation, can walk the Paseo's to my Ralphs.SB mall.
Paseo is over street enclosed bridge's that take you to the malls, if walking is your pleasure.

I am working today on a mini-route, then I am hitting the grocery store tonight for a massive seafood sale. They have king crab, lobster tails, colossal shrimp, lump crab meat, T-bones, and much more on sale at this one store where I shop regularly. This particular store has a program where you earn a % off of your groceries or an amount off per gallon at the pump. I have 30% off on groceries or $1.54 off per gallon. My gas tank is full and only holds about 20 gallons anyway, so I am going to stock my garage freezer with about $400 of yummy seafood and steaks!!!

I am not Catholic so I will be enjoying wine and steaks on a regular basis throughout Lent...one thing I never understood--I have some dear friends who are Catholic that eat seafood on Friday throughout Lent, saying that they are "giving up" meat on those days...but honestly, I would rather eat lobster tails or any seafood pretty much over meat, even steaks, so how is that giving anything up?
Washing clothes....walking the dog.....watching over sick-but-slowly-recovering hubby!
JAS, we had a priest at church that told us that if we don't eat meat, we should then give up whatever we normally like eating and eat meat instead. So, if I were a vegetarian, I would not be denying myself if I did not eat meat, which is the purpose of the Abstinence during Ash Wednesday, Good Friday and Lent.

So, there was a time when I was not really eating any kind of meat and when Fasting and Abstinence came, I observed fasting, denied myself fish and the use of the Internet. I know with Fasting, I never have any appetite anyway. But giving up Internet!!!

It's a self-sacrifice. Giving up something... When one indulge in seafood instead, that's not really sacrificing something, unless they do not like seafood, according to my priest, but they did abstain and did not eat meat. But who are we judge?

My son hates seafood and if he eats seafood, he would definitely be sacrificing and observing Abstinence, but there are other meatless food available, why would he bother?
I get it. So a lot of Catholics are just observing tradition rather than making sacrifice, especially when it's a given that there are so many places who do an "all you can eat" fish fry (including churches) on Fridays throughout Lent. Gorging on tender, fried, white flaky fish, LOL...not much of a sacrifice, eh?
A good friend told me that her congregation (not Catholic, though) has agreed to "add up" instead of "give up" for Lent. They are adding to the personal and other forms of support, praise, and thanks that they provide to others each and every day. Those that can, give funds as well as extra volunteer time during Lent for those less fortunate. But, it is also aimed at providing more love, encouragement and support to those with whom they interact every day, including family members.

The weather has been very bad lately so I had not even gone to the grocery or the church. Had to ask my son to pick up my prescription. I overdid work the last days so I am dying to take it easy today. I made some Panera baguette chips though.
