Thanks! The weekend was awesome! I spent quality time with them. Mom cooked a lot, and I ate even more. Dad asked if I wanted to go out. Uhm, I am out. It was a great weekend!

Congratulations! I'm shrinking by eating less and moving more. I bought a pair of Burberry slacks a size smaller than I am now. Talk about motivation!

I made it into the next smaller size of pants. This is the size I wore when I began to mystery shop. It doesn't really mean anything, except that I know how long it took me to gain and lose pants sizes. (It took years.) I hope to be in the next smaller size when winter begins, because that size is "pretty nice" and I can wear bulky sweaters without looking like the Michelin Man. In order to do that, I must do something now. Work out, for example...

Sorry thought you were more north! I'll be in wales' neck of the woods at the end of the week and not saying hi to her either!

@Irene, [www.homeadvisor.com] is a good resource. I just used them and met with 2 contractors to get estimates this weekend. The contractors they sent were professional and had great references. I think it's a nationwide network. Maybe give them a try? Lowe's has a website [porch.com], but they never seem to have contractors in my area.
We once hired someone off of Craigs List. He royally screwed the job up.

ACL occasionally has shops for a home repair service in my area, but it's been a while since I've seen them.

I think Angie's List started doing some sort of free search thing where they used to charge to let you see business reviews in your area, I was half paying attention to the TV and saw some sort of commercial about it. You might be able to find a reputable handyman that doesn't charge an arm and a leg that way.

Getting ready for a Skype interview for tomorrow for a holiday demo position that pays really well and getting post office boxes ready for the week!

My Aldi is closed for renovation, so I had to drive to one seven miles to the east for my big shopping. First I popped into a local chain grocery store across the street from the Aldi for a couple of things. On the way home I hit up Fresh Thyme for some sale produce then Costco to get the yogurt I forgot to buy when I was there yesterday. Discovered gas was 20 cents cheaper a gallon there, so I waited in a long line to fill up my almost empty tank. This afternoon I swapped out the duvet cover in the master bedroom for the cool weather one, then changed the artwork and accessories in the room.

Happy Monday! I am doing an odd collection of tasks. The car is going in for service and I am going in for coffee at a fave coffee place. If I have the energy, I will walk across the street and open a new bank account on my time and then mystery shop it later on someone else's dime. If not, I will just sip coffee and read. This is good.

ACL does shops for Handyman repair in my experience they reimbursed up to $100 to do the work that day.BUT - It takes weeks to get an appointment and they are very overpriced. VERY overpriced. $300 to install a screen door PLUS the cost of the door and a $20 delivery fee if they pick up the door.
I have one small shop to do today before I go to the local librarty .. We read All The Missing Girls this month. Has anyone else read it.
Today we're shopping for our Halloween costumes. My son will be Dwight from The Office, hubby and I will be Pam and Jim.
Kitchen clean-up, shampoo and conditioning, folding and storing clean clothes, writing one report, shifting things in closets to reach cool weather clothing more easily. I also have a book that I have been delaying finishing because I do not want the story, or the superb writing, to come to an end.

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
I never see ACL shops and not driving the distance for a pizza, do a great one in my town. The in home shop I did was a complete ripoff, never again. Made a Dentist appt for tomorrow, brought lunch home making phone calls and just the usual stuff. Dancing with the stars tonight...smiling smiley

Work, so glad the tax deadline is today, mystery shop at lunch, finish folding clothes, paperwork, and supper. Finally got a small front to knock the temperatures out of the 90's. The weather today was beautiful.
UPDATE....thanks all for the different opinions, however, I found a handyman on the computer.
Home Adviser.com under local handyman gives you name and # and references. Speaking with
two and putting this problem behind me...sometimes only you can help yourself. I wouldn't use
Craigs list or Angie's list, "Home Advisor" comes with references and stands behind their referrals
finding someone close to your home for one job or many needed in your home. Handyman coming out tomorrow afternoon...$75.00 for installation of disposal 99.00 for disposal, where plumber quoted me $500.00.....

Glad you found help for cheaper than you were originally quoted, Irene.

My son has his swimming lesson this morning. My husband will take him and I'll buy a few groceries for dinner while they are out. Later we have our church small group and then we'll come home and watch This Is Us.

I'm glad that worked out for you, Irene, and I understand your avoidance of Craig's List, but what's wrong with Angie's List? That's a very reputable site, not like Craig's List at all. Angie's List is just a review of businesses, basically. It's not like Craig's List where people post ads of items for sale or for services.
Nothing fun for me at all today, just work--I plan on doing 15 shops today but I can't start until around 1, so that will keep me busy until mid evening (most of them are short 5-10 minute shops)
There are 68 shopping days between now and the unmentionable, religious event. But do I care about that? No! There is a veritable sea of free time between now and next merch. Do you know wonderful this is?!? Today is devoted to a little extra work for the morning job, a nap, and a sorting of books. A few books are moving on to their next finding place. Someone may want them, need them, or just give them a chance. I have given many books a chance and loved them. smiling smiley

Today, dentist for review, short visit, library to return book, handyman coming at 4:00. Running around till 1ish, then home. Good week, no work...getting used to this.
Jas, yes Angie's List works for some, but Home Advisor was more specific for my needs, hiring handymen with license and had two in my town, no charge, and stands behind their work. I (of course) had heard about Angie's List, and couldn't recommend them or not, never having used them, there another alternative, I went with what was best for me...whew!

Work, 2 quick mystery shops at lunch, home, paperwork. One of my older daughters wants to host Thanksgiving - yeah I'm so happy. Both are great cooks and the one in college is not far behind. I'm excited - the anticipation is almost as good as the event. The Vegas conference is less than a month away too!
Swapping out the closet with cool weather clothing and shoes, putting summer stuff away, and beginning the process of bringing the house plants in for the winter. Waiting around for a call-back from the investment advisor shop I did yesterday, then adding a couple more lines to the report and sending it on its way. When the grass dries off I will go outside and cut.
