What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Not so much today. I figured out my merch schedule, ate real Mex (YUMYUMYUM!). and finished a book.
And what a book that was! I am still thinking about it...

Okay so what is UP with the tire thing? I got a tire yesterday because I had hit a pothole a few weeks and it took a chunk out of the sidewall, and I had a very slow leak that required air top off every 3-4 days. I finally just broke down and spent the money on the new tire. Bummer because I have only had the car for 6 months and the tread was in great shape still. But, there were two recall notices that they had to check out and my cruise control was patchy and working intermittently. Turns out my car was fine concerning the recalls, they mounted and balanced my new tire and it has roadside hazard warranty so if IT gets damaged they will replace it (minus wear and tear on the tread of course), and the cruise control was covered by my warranty and they fixed it. They also changed my oil for free so I had to cancel my oil change mystery shop I was going to do today. Going north to do some candy date code audits this afternoon, then coming home and drinking some wine with my neighbor.
Today my younguns I have a noon lunch date. Charming Mexican restaurant with bright colors and music,
and amazing food, "getting to know you, getting to know all about you" (sounds like a song). TMI.....before the event, cleaning house, going to get eyes done professionally, good day this Friday is......smiling smiley Hoping to hear from my daughter who just returned from New York where she and her associate did a seminar for the New York Times staff on "Emotional Intelligence"...waiting for her to send me a link, proud Mama.....love it when things just fall into place.

Staying at home with upset tummy due to reaction to meds. When I read a review of the new John LeCarre novel recently it explained that it is a follow-up to the tale told more than 50 years ago in his, "The Spy Who Came in From the Cold." For some reason, I do not think that I have ever read that one. So, I ordered it and am working my way through, savoring a few chapters at a time. This way, I can think about the possible coming twists and turns and try to figure out just what new mystery will be revealed. But, as a side effect of such a compelling tail, I find myself waking up at night worrying about the main characters. To me, that is a sure sign of splendid writing.

I am heading to Philadelphia to visit my parents for the long weekend. I plan on returning home spoiled, fat and happy!

Honny, that sounds like a fantastic way to spend a weekend. May your parents live long and prosperous lives. And you as well!

I was going to check out a farmer's market about 15 minutes from me. Rain moving in soon means instead I need to get outside to blow the leaves off the patio then clean the grills so they can be covered. My patio is downwind from my own 40 foot maple along with the forest my neighbor has planted in his backyard. He is a nutcase. A yard only big enough for a couple large trees at the most and he has about six or seven. One, naturally the one closest to me, drops ugly black pods from July to March or Aprilsad smiley

I made it into the next smaller size of pants. This is the size I wore when I began to mystery shop. It doesn't really mean anything, except that I know how long it took me to gain and lose pants sizes. (It took years.) I hope to be in the next smaller size when winter begins, because that size is "pretty nice" and I can wear bulky sweaters without looking like the Michelin Man. In order to do that, I must do something now. Work out, for example...

Irene, I have a crockpot problem. I don't think it's a problem, but my husband does: I own 7 crockpots of varying sizes, LOL. I use them for different things. I walked into the grocery store Thursday and they had a doorbuster sale on crockpots, the original Crockpot was on sale for $9.99! I was sooo tempted to buy another one, LOL!
I greatly prefer the Proctor Silex slow cookers and have them in 3 sizes. But, I cook for one! Need that 7 quart size for when I make chicken stock, of course!

ETA the correct brand name!

I'm not brand loyal, I have a variety of different brands in my pantry. My neighbor just got one of those that locks for transport, I might buy one of them someday.
Sitting around in my pajamas most of the day...guess I will take a shower and clean my kitchen, then go do a few shops. They are shops that I can do anytime before the 11th so not sure if I will actually ever leave my house, LOL. I am not hungover from the 1 and 1/2 bottles of wine I drank last night but I am feeling very lazy.
The rain beat me. The patio got cleaned and the last of the summer plants made it into recycle bags. Unfortunately, the charcoal grill wasn't touched and the gas grill just got the exterior and the cabinet cleaned and de-greased. No time to use the stainless cleaner or clean the cooking surfaces. It's going to be warm and sunny this week so it may be time to give the charcoal grill some love with a paint job and another coat of stain on the wood shelves.

I bought mine this year at Kohl's for about 19.00, and really use it to death, especially in the winter. I wouldn't have room in my kitchen for any more... Seven is enough Jas.....LOL

I recently bought one that locks for travel. It's a beast and I love it. I do big batches of things and freeze half. I thought my old one would never quit. I had to help it along a little.
Yes, my large one I do my homemade pasta sauce in and it cooks for a couple of days, then I freeze portions of it. The mid sized ones are great for soups and stews. One is oval and is perfect for putting a rotisserie chicken carcass in to make soup. My little crockpots are great for parties, because I can put corn in one, some sort of dip (ex: buffalo chicken dip) in another, etc. I also use my little crockpots during my demos. I make a delicious quinoa rice dish with Turmeric Bone Broth Protein and the little crockpot is perfect to keep it warm for several hours. Hey, I could be addicted to crack, but instead I am addicted to crock!
Well having a crock addition could be worse, it's a crock buffet.....or a buffet of crock...smiling smiley

I'm old school using a 12 quart Calphalon stockpot with a pasta insert. The size makes it a bit unwieldy, but the insert is an easy way to lift out the chicken and vegetable in case I want to reduce the stock before straining and freezing.

Booking flights and rental cars for trips. I am going to Texas in November (Houston, Austin, Port Arthur, Beaumont) to visit relatives, then going to Phoenix for a few weeks in December. Probably will go to Mexico late January to mid February...at least I hope.

Nothing more ambitious than a little extra work for the morning job, watching the Harry Potter movies for the first time, and doing a little housework for me but not for The Inner Perfectionist.

Church this morning. We've got friends coming over for dinner later so a quick house cleaning this afternoon is probably in order.
