What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Somewhat lazy Sunday, the best kind. The biggest thing on my agenda was cleaning the coffee grinder and espresso machine. The only other thing I'm sure to be doing is grilling steaks and making creamed spinach. If time allows I may give myself a facial, mani and pedi, but that would be it.

Bach is not noise, Madam. (Robert, in Two's Company)
I was gone all weekend. Today is about going to the gym to sweat off gained water weight from weekend carb fest, then grocery shopping, and removing the piles in the kitchen left over from unpacking. .

Bank deposits; new phone number for follow-ups; showing basement apartment; assembling slow cooker beef with wine and mushrooms; making hotel reservation; mailing notarized stuff to HS for LV employment; converting remaining Hyatt rewards points to SW Airlines miles; making appointment for electrician to add a circuit to main panel. Mourning Las Vegas where I had been going since I'm 25yrs. old and got married in the only Temple there.
I know folks that moved to Henderson, NV and this hit me hard, it could have been me or anyone. I actually (years ago) shopped the restaurant and the wonderful bar there in Mandalay Bay a gorgeous hotel.
Guns are too easy for crazy people to get, the NRA too powerful and it needs to stop. How does one man do this?

I did a thermal comfort survey at work. Seventeen sample points on 10 floors twice a day for four days. I clocked 23,000 steps today.

Wow, Honny, that's a lot of steps! Today I need to pick up a few groceries. Tonight we have my church small group.
Checks to the bank! Then shops as described in the "dinner" thread.

I am going to vacuum and then going to sit at the restaurant on the lake and have lunch by myself. I was supposed to meet two friends for lunch, but both have young kids and I guess cold and flu season is starting early this year. I am so glad our kids are grown ups now for so many reasons, but it puts kind of a disconnect between me and a few of my friends. All my other friends are working at their "real" jobs so I have no one to go with me sad smiley But, I will drink a beer and sit in the sun, so all is well. There just aren't going to be too many more perfect days where it's sunny and 80 so I had better enjoy it while I can!
It's sunny here, too. This sun on the snowy landscape makes a bright, gleaming white, especially in contrast to the bright blue sky above it. This near-blinding white should be in an ad for toothpaste, or laundry detergent, or something. But enough about ad ideas. I just watched one of my fave episodes of TBBT. It is in Season 5 or 6. Howard returned from outer space and acquired a workplace parking space. The space used to be assigned to Sheldon, who neither drives nor owns a car. Sheldon demands the return of his beloved, shaded, corner parking space which has only a fifty percent risk of dings. Howard and Sheldon are amusing in their bat-crap-crazy efforts to be Alpha Male With Parking Space. The best part is the almost-cat-fight between Amy and Bernadette. Each woman defends her nerd. They begin civilly enough, with politely issued barbs amidst girl talk. Time passes and things heat up. The once sweet Bernadette shows how much she has grown. She has Amy's car towed out of Howard's parking space AND she scratches Amy's car. Mrrrraow. Hssssss. "OW!" That was Penny, who got caught in the cross fire.

I'm in a situation where my friends all have grandkids, and that keeps them busy, so I spend a lot of time alone.
MSing has made it easy for me to eat alone, and I really kind of enjoy my space. Liking yourself helps...smiling smiley
Today is Taco Tuesday and I always look forward to my great taco salad at Rio Cafe, then I'll pop into Kohl's,
which is next door. I'll be home, vacumn, always things to do in the house, with a lot of T.V. and trying to schedule some jobs. I actually have a "friend" in Boston, and tonight will be a well waited for phone call.

Yes, I do like myself, and this particular place probably won't be busy as the lake is very seasonal, with most people being at work. There might be 8-10 people this afternoon. The leaves are just starting to change so it will be very picturesque. It's taco Tuesday at this place too, though I am sure it's not anywhere near as good as the authentic Mexi food in Cali.

Wink and nod at the "friend", Irene. That's a long distance friendship if I have ever heard of one!
@Jas, nothing comes easy to me, learned not to say no to a good thing....smiling smiley Sometimes you just make a connection and distance doesn't matter.

Jas, my very best friend is in Derby, England. BFFs since about 2003. Fortunately his new wife understood that when they and married, lol. She and I are like sisters and when I am there, we sort of gang up on him if he gets snarky. Right now, he and I are on IM.

I love to be alone. I am married and I have friends but I have no problem shopping, eating, or doing anything alone. Sometimes the voices in my head don't want the competition. tongue sticking out smiley
Today I babysat the contractor, and now it's time for my daily expedition to the grocery and Lowe's. With being able to prepare so few things I seem to need something daily. And there's always something needed from Lowe's. Today it's drawer handles and foam underlayment for the new floors.
I cut the grass in anticipation of a rain shower that came right on schedule in the 1:00 hour. Trying to tie up all the loose ends before Hubby and I head out of town again this weekend. Going to SanFran, CA, to celebrate grandson's first birthday.

Personal/household errands/tasks. Yawn. Observing as the hubby finds out about mystery shopping. Apparently, he found a nice little job for himself. Go, hubby!

Errands. Not a construction day so I'll stay busy doing things I don't get to do when they are here. Hopefully tomorrow the new floors go in. I thought they did that last but the contractor asked me for 2 boxes of underlayment before Thursday. Fine by me!
Got a good start, just scheduled two jobs, one a good one (excited). Will play a bit with Macy's, browsing the mall, I don' need anything, but always like to see what's out there. Just hang out at the Patios, home in the afternoon for more of the same. Weather amazing, cool, sun out, thinking of going to gym (treadmill) before
starting my day.

A two week old new tire was ruined by a nail. Costco will replace it for FREE under their prorated warranty. While that is happening, I will stroll down the attached mall and get a much needed perm. First, however, I have one report to finish from yesterday.

That's good, walesmaven, that they will replace it... What's a prorated warranty?

Today I'm taking my son to his swimming lesson. Later I will go to the bank and withdraw some cash. Nothing too exciting today.
Most tires and batteries, for instance, have warranties that state that the replacement cost to be paid by the warranty issuer is prorated for the miles of use if the item. They looked up the mileage from their installation record, punched in the current mileage and the system told then not to charge me anything for a tire that was 70 miles old on a 60,000 mile warranty. If this had happened at 30,000 miles they would have paid for half of the new tire and I would pay for the other half. (And it would be a new 60,000 warranty tire.) This and free tire rotation for the life of the tires, makes Costco the only place to buy tires and have them mounted. In addition, my Michelin tires cost exactly the same there as at the other 5 dealers that I check before buying. But the others did not offer the full road hazard replacement terms or free rotations.

Getting two new tires, while waiting will walk across the street to Target and pick up some cosmetics...another day in Paradise, great weather, doing the usual, not working until next week unless.....my favorite pizza place is in this mall so, will see...home to print out instructions for a big job coming up along with a phone job next week.
Combining work and play makes for a good day!!!

My dealer is competitive for tires. I bought the last set in the spring and that Thanksgiving got a roofing nail in one. It was replaced at no charge. What I don't get is free rotation. My previous set came from a place that did have free rotation. I found myself still getting them rotated at the dealer every other oil change because it was just so much more convenient. I also had a good run of service shops at my dealer. When combined with specials they were running, I could get the oil change, tire rotation and end up with a profitsmiling smiley

Not so much today. I figured out my merch schedule, ate real Mex (YUMYUMYUM!). and finished a book.
