What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

TBBT mini-marathon. We are somewhere in Season 3, and Bernadette has joined the cast. In these early episodes, Bernadette is sweetly reminiscent of Georgette from the Mary Tyler Moore show. We are experimenting with new recipes and foods here. Some are repeatable. Others are in the "good to know" category. It is good to know that we do not need to try that again.

Thanks for the reminder, I will look it up...maybe the Ronald Reagan Library where they house Air Force One and Nancy's clothes worn as first lady. Beautiful setting, haven't been there since it opened. No work for days, maybe forever, who knows.
Changed from Air Force One to the original Titanic, really great.

I did some outreach with my church this morning, then went to a Big Lots type store. I picked up some Wise Grilled Cheeseburger potato chips. Lays...move over! These tasted like I was eating a burger.

I spent most of the day at Yosemite. Now watching some college football.

Today, shopping two grocery's, playing around at mall...weather beautiful crispy and nice, sweater weather.
I LOVE FALL.....

Live consciously....
BG...were you able to hike the falls, which should be full....so envious. Did you shop the hotel in Yosemite.?

Live consciously....
Oh Irene, that's so odd that it is sweater weather in LA and in NE Ohio we have been having a heat wave. It's been in the high 80s low 90s the past few days and will be for the next couple of days as well. Supposed to finally cool down Thursday. Wacky weather.
We have had a miserable summer with degrees up to 110....today about 79ish, which is cool for us..
Not cool enough for wools, have lightweight sweaters....I love the fall....weather has been wacky... global warming, it's here!!!!

Live consciously....
It has been perfectly cold in the very early mornings for about a month now. For me, this is heaven on earth. Now, it is cold enough to wear a sweater all day. Sweaters... ooohhhhhhh... mmmmmmyyyyyyyyyy..... bliss!

For the first time in ... forever ... I had time to install and play games. This is fun!

Irene, 79 sounds perfect. I'll take it all year long! I am not a fan of heat over 85 or cold below 45, but yet I have to suffer through it at certain times of year sad smiley I am planning on taking some trips out west this winter so that will help smiling smiley

I only had time for Lower Yosemite. I spent about 4 hours there and it was VERY crowded and difficult to do anything. I did not shop the hotel in Yosemite. I was actually going to try staying in Yosemite but the hotels were all booked by the time I planned the trip. I almost shopped the hotel in Yellowstone a few weeks ago but ended up not being able to. I honestly don't remember what the hang up was.

This is another great day here. I did the night/early morning job, selected my merchandising days for Sept.-Oct., and noticed that the pants I am wearing are a little looser today than they were a few weeks ago. I started a new book and will spend the time between house tasks reading. This day is perfect! smiling smiley

We were supposed to have brunch with my husband's dad and step-mom but they told us they are both feeling a bit under the weather. I hope they didn't catch something from us... We rescheduled for a couple weeks from now. Hopefully everyone will be healthy by now.
Spent a little time on the October calendar, finished a game, and found out how much it would cost to get professional color service for my now-long hair. Holy Unprintable!!!!! I can afford to skip that.

Today I'm painting the little nook that was walled off to make more cabinet space. On the other side where the wall was created is the nook that leads to the basement stairs. Since I've mostly been unable to shop and make any money I decided to save some money by doing some of the painting myself. I mostly don't like painting (walls) because of the ladders but I guess i'll live. That's a small area so after that I'll get started on the small antique table I have for the kitchen under the window. It's already kind of ratty looking (distressed lol) . I"ll decide if it needs to be sanded and painted or just cleaned up and left like it is. Then maybe I'll have time to go to some second hand shops. I'm still looking for two old wooden chairs to go with the table and some vintage table cloths. My kitchen is now full of cabinets ready to be hung and that will happen tomorrow.
I feel like crap because of the crap food we've been eating. I'm actually looking forward to my diet and will probably start off with a juice fast to sucker punch that thing into high gear.

Now you are speaking my language, lol. You will find just the right things for your house. smiling smiley

This reminds me that someday I will produce a little something about "Three Chairs and a Table". Usually, I see three chairs that more or less match a nearby table. Why is that?!? Well, there are infinite explanations for that. Some are better than others, but all potentially tell a tale about incomplete sets, mismatches, eclecticism, and anything else someone might want to make them say. Someday has not arrived, and between now and then, I may come up with better explanations... grinning smiley

My only real plan for today is to buy some milk... Other than that I will need to do some house cleaning and start a load of laundry.
CQ... I have a great old wooden chair in my extra bedroom...I'd let you have it. Picked it up years ago, I think at home Goods. Estate sales are a great place, when we had one for my sister, her expensive furniture went for next to nothing and was bought at the Design Center made in Europe to look old.....fun to go exploring for stuff.
Food wise yes, a fast should put you back in the game.

I've never done a juice fast before. Do you make your own? What's your favorite?

I've done protein shakes when I've been eating bad. One of my favorites is 1/2 cup of cold decaf coffee, 1 cup unsweetened almond milk or milk of choice, 1 scoop chocolate protein powder (I use Quest) and a frozen banana. It's like a mocha.

My second favorite is 1 1/2 cups unsweetened almond milk, 1 scoop peanut butter protein powder (Quest), a serving of powdered peanut butter (I use powdered Jif which is 3 tablespoons), and a frozen banana. I found the addition of the powdered peanut butter really ups the peanut butter taste.

Shop-et-al, I love treasure hunts. When I run across those tablecloths it's going to be pretty exciting.

Irene, that is so sweet. Thanks for the thought. I'm sure your chair is way too nice for my purposes though. I'm looking for chairs in bad enough condition that I can paint them without feeling bad. I'm going to paint them a soft rose and white and maybe decoupage something. I've never done decoupage before but I've seen some examples that are really pretty.

Kimmiemae, I mostly do green juice with kale, cucumber, apples, ginger, celery. Look up "mean green" and that is the basic recipe. Besides the mean green I do lots of different combinations depending on what I have in the fridge. I have a Breville which I love. I'd juice every day if money were not an issue. I do like smoothies too though. I'll have to try your recipes. I usually do almond milk, a banana, a handful of frozen strawberries and a spoonful of yogurt. A shot of orange juice is nice if I"m not avoiding the little bit of sugar.
I'm straightening the house in anticipation of a weekend trip so the cat sitter doesn't think we're complete slobs and listening to a show on my local community radio station. From 4:00-7:00 the volunteer DJ is playing the songs that were on the charts fifty years ago today.

Happily, I am awake in the earliest part of the morning and enjoying quiet time. This is the best part of the day, usually. Today, I am doing small house tasks and reading. Somehow, I missed this little old book when I was in school. Now, I know that I missed better descriptors and insights than so-called great books and lit have provided. Oh, well. I am benefiting from it now. This is such a treat!

Today is cabinet day. I'm so excited I couldn't sleep. After cabinets there's only countertops, backsplash and floors. I think I'll go out for a little walk before my enforced inactivity starts. I can't wait to get back to a normal (healthy) life.
