What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

I collect roosters. I love the kitschyness of them. I put them on top of kitchen cabinets too. I dont have many but the ones i bothered to buy are cute. My sister always gives me nice pottery cookware which somehow goes with any decor.

I am snarling at an upcoming report. The guidelines instruct me to answer all questions objectively. In the report, there is at least one loaded/subjective question. That question cannot be answered objectively. It requires conjecture and opinion. GAH! But the shop is convenient and pays pretty well. If I can get past this grumbling, I will read the rest of the survey and identify all question types. But don't worry. I will not bore you with the particulars of any more question types.

Moving on now... I am doing well with my reading schedule. One book per day is making me happy. I have to disrupt that for 3 shop/merch days. Three days is an improvement! All is well.

My son starts his swimming lessons back up today so I will be taking him. Usually my husband takes him on Tuesdays and I take him on Thursdays but he has to work overtime today so I'll take him both times this week.
This morning I'm putzing around the house, waiting for all the 10:00 AM stores I need to get to open.

Several years ago my children gave us a set of Fiestaware dishes for Christmas. All eight place settings were the same color, so with their permission I returned/replaced with four different colors (two place settings each). Since that time I've found a store with great prices on individual pieces, so every time something breaks I swap it out with some different color...the goal is to eventually have a wide assortment.

Going into a mall in another city to do my Nespresso, am looking for a good new coffee maker, could this be the one....lots of these jobs available, also tying to get another. Home to a FF burger, done by 1ish and watching a movie and re-runs of Law and Order.

I've done a couple of Nespresso shops, and thought they were pretty easy. However, they closed the store closest to me (which was in a dying mall).

I need to go to the bank, then I have a couple groceries to buy. Other than that my day is pretty open.
Quiet day here. Must do a few errands, read two new-to-me authors, and do a gentle workout. That's it! smiling smiley

My day just got better. I am reading on the porch. The liquid sunshine began moments ago. A smattering of raindrops accompanies nearby birds while damp, reddening vines gleam and proclaim, "Autumn". Naturally, they know better than to consult a human calendar for guidance.

I"m doing what it seems like I do every day. Sitting around here waiting on contractors, or waiting for them to leave. I never sit around this much it's draining me. On the bright side my kitchen is now dry walled and mudded, and waiting on the second coat. I have the design down so now I can apply myself to figuring out the bathroom. I have a couple of potential directions to go, depending on how the contractor answers my questions. Yesterday I bought a new microwave and will throw the old one out. Our plaster ceiling fell on it a few years ago and it's never come completely clean since so I'm done. It's rained for 3 days and i'm ready for a dry weekend to maybe just play in the garden or shop with my friends.
Bgriff, I'm guessing you haven't been to Alaska or Hawaii yet?

Irene, Fat Tire is Belgian Style pale ale. Just bought some yesterday.

Helping my husband pack his supplies for Florida today. He is going to the Kissimmee area to work (insurance adjuster). I've been buying supplies all week now putting everything in totes for his cab and truck bed so he can hit the road.

Edited cuz I'm typing on my phone. Edited more because now I am not on my phone and I see that I made more typos on my phone, LOL.

I'm taking my son to his swimming lesson this morning. This afternoon we'll go to my mom's house to check on her dog since she has to work late.

See, now that kind of thing is really cool in my book. Being able to say that you have seen all of the continental US is awesome, and you have done shops in each continental US state so that's even better. You could be in the bgriffin world book of records, LOL. I recently took a trip with my sister to Canada and was able to say that I saw all 5 great lakes on that trip. I thought that was really neat. My sister was like, "Whatever."

Edited to add that I have been to Hawaii but only been to maybe 30 states total. When I grow up I want to be like you, LOL.

This has turned into quite the cooking day. On his way out the door this morning Hubby informed me we were out of muffins (one of our breakfast/lunch staples), so I knew I was going to have to make a new batch. Then, when I went to make my lunch I used the last of the tofu and rice. Now tofu is pressed, seasoned, and baked and the rice cooker just finished. As soon as I decide what type of muffins to make I can knock them out, too. However, by then it will be time to think about making dinner :-)

Funny what sorts of experiences different people decide to collect. I have ridden every historic steam train in Wales plus a few in Derby, York and a few other shires. My mother collected walled ancient cities so I have had some fun walking walls with her in Wales and England. So much more fun than another friend who specialized in Edwardian Era 3 tier cake plates.

Based in MD, near DC
Shopping from the Carolinas to New York

I've only been to 6 US states....however I have been to many more great Museums all over the world. London
Paris, italy, Austria, Israel, Mexico, .D.C.'s Smithsonian. I was on a "city kick" to visit great cities and within that saw the Museums....(.now it's time for Fiji.). .BG, yes quite an accomplishment, take lots of pic's your building memories. When my daughter lived in London I took a bus tour with her through the countryside, up to Wales, Scotland, Edinburgh and a Hovercroft over to France and a 4 stay stay in Paris visiting the Louve, and Picasso Museums. She was great to travel with as she took 6 years of French and the French love when Americans speak their language, was a memorable trip. There's a book in that 10 months.
Back to real life, .99 store bought tons of good stuff, Thursday is their big delivery, did a Lowe's appliance shop, easy peasy, finished report watching T.V. and making a tuna melt for lunch...over and out!!

Interesting about the places and the stuff. Brings back memories... but those will wait. It is nearly time for the morning job, and it is raining. If I were in Kentucky, I would belt out "...cold Kentucky rain...". But I am here, and it will be cold and rainy and muddy. And who wants to sing about that!?! "Mud keeps splashin' on my pants...but that doesn't mean... " No. Absolutely not. No one should sing something like that! But I love the cold and the rain. I'm good. grinning smiley

For some reason the post about walled cities reminded me of an old fort i saw on a cross country trip. We were way the hell off the beaten path and I don't remember what state it was, but it was in the west. At any rate, I was surprised at how small it was. I always pictured them like the movies, giant gates opening on to commerce and busy streets. This one was the size of a roomy bedroom. I can just see all the white people cowering in it while Indians whoop it up outside. That would be terrifying LOL. I would rather be one of the Indians. (And yes I know the correct term is Native American. )
Grocery shopping today... and I need to buy a new swim diaper for my son, he's outgrowing the current one.
Just bid honey goodbye and safe travels. Having my neighbor over for cocktails and appetizers tonight, her mom just passed away a few weeks ago and she has been really depressed, going over and cleaning out the house that she grew up in and finding all the keepsakes and memories. I know how she feels, I still miss my mom and that sorting through things part of it was really tough for me.
Jas I feel for you, very difficult time ,.stay strong, one never gets over losing a loved one, feelings come and go.
