What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Woo hoo! Happy Birthday!

For my birthday I ordered two new tires from Costco for my car. I expect to have them mounted today and then to go to a nearby garage for a wheel alignment. (Two other tires were replaced a few months ago.) Before that, 2-3 garage shops within 2 miles of home.

Reporting in with my Wednesday sale from Krogers.....whole chicken 50% off (3.99), SKY Vodka from San Francisco, one of my favorite brands..saved $6.00 (10.99)...happy camper today. They are re-modeling store and making it into a high end Krogers...guess prices will rise, right now during construction, prices are low.
Cooking my chicken and later will run out for errands...weather today dropped to 92% from 110, so able to breathe. Straightening out garage, dusting and trying to change a couple lightbulbs in my 20 foot high ceilings....figuring out how to write a blog...so much to do, so little time. Enjoy everyday you have good health.

CoffeeQueen, our Navajo tacos aren't the same at all. I make Navajo fry bread and then pile all the traditional taco filling on top of it (pecan "meat", cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, sour cream, salsa).

But for regular tacos I do prefer corn tortillas.
I'm not sure my fry bread is fully authentic but it is fried, which makes everything good.

Today I need to do some laundry, give my son a bath, and go to the bank.

I had an interesting day. Random drug screen this morning before work. At work, I applied for a few jobs. After work, I went to urgent care to have my knee looked at. The knee issue was a groin pull. I'm happily medicated right now.

Good thing that day wasn't in reverse.

I did errands today. Making bone broth for the very first time and I found a recipe to make it in my Instant Pot. I guess you only need to cook it for 2 hours if you are using a pressure cooker. We'll see what happens. Got a list of others things to do. Hopefully will be able to get most done before bed.

Today, being the first Thursday of the month, I went to my breast cancer Support Group meeting...it meets the first and third Thursdays each month. It's great to continually learn from and encourage each other. We've each been through our own journey on this road, and we all help hold each other up. Even after attending regularly for almost 4 yrs (4 in November), it's great to be able to have a special bond with a special bunch of women.

Happy B-day Wales and many more....

I am enjoying my new-to-me authors thing, a cuppa, and early morning in general.

Soon, it will be time for the beloved critter watching event I mean early morning job.
A change in that job resulted in the distinct pleasure of being near critters daily.

Changing also meant acquiring a different set of customers. Our new human customers are great. Unexpectedly, some of our beloved former customers went waaaaaasy out of their way to thank us. I cried! That was thoughtful and beautiful. We are preparing their thank you cards today.

I have the best of all worlds: Wonderful civilized humans who appreciate other humans and critters, early morning work, and the occasional shop or merch thing.

We have made progress, after 3 miserable days just sitting around here listening to drills, hammers, and saws, we have a solid sub floor and a framed in (useless) doorway ready for electric outlets and dry wall. That will start on Monday. Meanwhile I will spend the weekend cleaning out a useless closet (4 inches deep) that will be covered with cabinets. Old houses have some pretty weird stuff. Not sure what I'll do today besides one shop I agreed to because the scheduler was desperate and she threw money at it. I have a small antique table I want to sand and refinish so maybe I"ll start that.
Tonight and tomorrow I'm MCing for a workshop. Public speaking does NOT come naturally to me (although it's getting easier), and I'll be glad when the whole thing is over.

I bet you will be great Kathy.

I went to coffee at one of my friend's home this mor ning , she has a lovely house that I always love to see when I visit her. She is a swet lady of 81 , but she has the pep of a 25 year old.
Tonight I will watch the OSU Cowboys win their second game of the season.
Exciting plans this afternoon. Installing kitchen wrap caddies inside two cabinet doors. I've wanted them since a major reorganization of the kitchen back in April and had a devil of a time finding the right ones at the right price point. These were only $3 a piece and the CS at Bed, Bath & Beyond waived the shipping because it was slightly more than the price of both caddies combinedsmiling smiley

Trying to figure out how best to make use of a small lamb roast that I seem to have made with far, far too much pepper! And, since it was in small pieces in a slow cooker, it is ALL peppery. Quick grocery trip. Paying bills. Updating budget. Assembling a huge pile of things to donate to the local charity shop. Trying to reach FL friends.

I did find a way. Shredded the meat. Made a batch of couscous with Parmesan, cooked in sodium free chicken broth. Combined lots of couscous with some of the meat and had a spicy but not too peppery dish. Quite good, actually. Served with wilted spinach.

That sounds delightful. I think a touch of lemon juice would help, too. Happy belated birthday wales!
Visiting little old ladies with charming houses is always a treat. Soon my friends and I will be those little old ladies, but I'm not little and my house is a disaster. I have a friend who is 70 who is always on a ladder pruning something or organizing the neighborhood watch meeting, or throwing a luncheon. She's amazing.
I never got around to the table yesterday and my old car still needs attention so that a for sale sign can be slapped on it so those are my intentions for today.
First I need loads of coffee.
Jas, actually, I sprinkled some dehydrated lemon peel into the mix. Forgot to mention that.

CQ, oh how well I remember the weeks of living without a functioning kitchen when mine was remodeled many years ago. I had a fridge, microwave, plus a hand basin in which to "do" dishes. You will survive and enjoy the end result all the more.

I have my accordion lesson this morning. I've also got laundry and dishes to do... never ending!
Completing 25% of ongoing, seemingly endless project. Finishing a book by a new-to-me author. Whacking expenses.

Accordion lesson? How fun! That's a dying art I think. I picked one up once but couldn't seem to get the knack of it, even though I'm very musical. I do better with stringed instruments.
Thanks Walesmaven and all the rest of you for all of the encouragement. I had no idea how bad this was going to be although we've done loads of renovations in the past. A kitchen is a whole different animal.
Housecleaning! So far, I've gotten the floors swept and washed, washed the bathroom floor mats, cleaned the bathrooms and changed the tablecloth in the dining room. Now I'm taking a break and getting ready to vacuum in a few minutes.

Later today, I'm going to make a peach cobbler, and defrost the rest of my molasses cookie dough and cook those up.

Hope as many as can are enjoying their weekend!!
Just popped a pan of brownies into the oven. I seldom bake but the breezy, cool, weather has inspired me.

I am sitting two chocolate labs for my daughter and my 17 year old grandson. I am there to make sure there are no parties going on at the house when she is gone for a few days. She never leaves her two boys 19 and 17 alone. She lost her husband five years ago from brain cancer. My husband and I are always there when needed.
