What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Ohhh, never heard of that, but I like the idea very much. I would add some sour cream and green onion with the guac and salsa, and maybe some chopped fresh cilantro and a squeeze of lime juice. That would be really good with chicken, too.

Yes you can alter it with whatever you have on hand, or whatever you like. That is just the basic recipe.

You lost me at flour tortilla

That's better than a chimichanga, which I love very much. I am a southern girl at heart. If it can be fried, lovely. Sautee or panfry is close enough.
Don't you mean you were ensnared or had? Or do you mean lost? You don't like flour tortillas?
Corn > Flour

I've aleays loved Mexican food but didn't really understand it until I started eating out of south Texas taco trucks. They only had flour because the white people wanted them.

Well in general I agree. I rarely choose flour when corn can be had. But when they are done properly they are okay. The charm of the navajo taco is part the delicious filling and part the crispy flaky flour tortilla.
Yeah, love taquerias. But I love fried flour tortillas, too. And I promise you, it's not all corn tortillas for Mexicans, my husband's cousin married a gal from Mexico and they eat burritos that she makes in addition to a multitude of other great dishes.
I make tri-tip in my slow cooker for my taco's, use all above and finish with avocado and sour creme, also add half of a Jalepeno for heat....the meat falls off the bone and tasty.....I also use the sauce from the black beans.

What is your vehicle of choice, corn or flour tortillas? Or do you just put it over rice? That's perfectly acceptable as well.
I prefer flour because their larger and hold more goodies. I do get the corn when I have to, but at home use flour tortilla's. I heat them on the stove burners until slightly brown and bubbling....sometimes I add shredded cheese and micro until melted, then add my meat and stuff....so yummy!!

The idea there is only one traditional choice for a country the size of Mexico is like saying there is one traditional American dish.

I treated myself to a facial today. Best hour I ever spent. It was heavenly. It was at a local health food store that has a salon/spa. They use MyChelle products.

Reporting in with my Wednesday sale from Krogers.....whole chicken 50% off (3.99), SKY Vodka from San Francisco, one of my favorite brands..saved $6.00 (10.99)...happy camper today. They are re-modeling store and making it into a high end Krogers...guess prices will rise, right now during construction, prices are low.
Cooking my chicken and later will run out for errands...weather today dropped to 92% from 110, so able to breathe. Straightening out garage, dusting and trying to change a couple lightbulbs in my 20 foot high ceilings....figuring out how to write a blog...so much to do, so little time. Enjoy everyday you have good health.

Progress: I finally opened a separate checking account for mystery shopping. I have been doing this for one year and I just kept all of the earnings in my paypal account, which has a debit card. I pay all of my shop expenses with the card so I don't have to touch my regular accounts while I'm waiting on reimbursement. Now that the money is growing, I'm wary of leaving a big chunk of money in PayPal because it's not guaranteed the same as a bank. Plus I might make a few pennies in interest money. It's not much but every penny counts!
I wanted to add about flour verus corn tortilla's. My favorite Mexican place "Rio Cafe" has a woman that stands and hand makes fresh tortilla's all day, with you having your choice between flour or corn. I have family in Mexico City where family went every other year and stayed with my relatives who had maids making tortilla's, usually corn, but they also had flour, and a great diverse menu in their nicer restaurants. Large cities throughout the world have many options, my town has about 12 good Mexican restaurants and everyone offers flour as well as corn, please!! Many lower end places choose to use corn, their cheaper and smaller.

In the past two days, I selected 15 new-to-me authors. I have read 4 of them. This is bliss. I love the variety. Some authors are hysterical. If it were possible for me laugh my @ off, I would now wear size 2.

Phyllo layered with custard and drizzled with sweet syrup. So yummy.

I had an interesting day. Random drug screen this morning before work. At work, I applied for a few jobs. After work, I went to urgent care to have my knee looked at. The knee issue was a groin pull. I'm happily medicated right now.

I've never heard of it either. Is it like baklava but with a custard filling?

I'm not sure my version is the same as sensei's, but here goes.

Take a flour tortilla and put some seasoned ground beef (taco meat) in it, a spoonful of refried beans, some cheese, a spoonful of chopped diced green chilies, a spoonful of salsa, and some chopped onion if you like it. Fold it over taco style. lightly sautee it in a large skillet with a tablespoon of vegetable oil until golden brown. Flip over and do the other side. Serve with guac and salsa.
Sound good, but doesn't everything fall out of the taco in the skillet? At least it would if I make them. smiling smiley

Similar to baklava. It is rich, but much lighter and not as sweet. Google it and there are a lot of pictures and recipes. It is as good as it lookssmiling smiley

Sounds like a rough day. Sorry to hear it. Are we to draw any conclusion from the random drug test and looking for a new job? jk
Hope you're feeling better soon
You fold the tortilla in a taco shape over the filling. . Usually a spatula and supporting fingers are enough to turn it successfully.

To be clear, I liked for the "happily medicated". Sorry you are in pain at all though.

For my birthday I ordered two new tires from Costco for my car. I expect to have them mounted today and then to go to a nearby garage for a wheel alignment. (Two other tires were replaced a few months ago.) Before that, 2-3 garage shops within 2 miles of home.
