Double cheesy meatball bake with cheese and mac and peas. Pretty outstanding!
mmmm. cheese sauce or tomato sauce?
It was a tomato sauce with mozzarella cheese on top. Also feta in the meatballs. So good. Reruns tonight were just as good.

I had spur-of-the-moment camping food. "Chocolate, cheese, and ice cold water in a real forest setting. On the way, listen for distant cow bells. Butterflies in flight may delight and remind to leave their world pristine..."

Or, everything tastes good when you're camping. Pack it in, pack it out. Now you hear it, now you don't. That bell might be tolling for tomorrow night's steak house din-din.

But the real truth is that we could not park near home, so we camped out until 1 a.m. and came back for work. It was amusing. All is well.

Shrimp sauteed in garlic butter, steamed fresh asparagus, a starch TBD.

Steak and sweet potato gnocchi. Leftover meat will be combined with grilled corn, cherry tomatoes and Cotija cheese in a salad tomorrow night. God, I love summer!

yep, fresh as a puppy's bottom...I prefer the chicken. They had a stand outside which doesn't take cards, so went inside and got them..full and satisfied, everything there is fresh.

I love tacos.

What I don't love is steamed asparagus. I can eat it roasted all day long but for some reason steamed is just nastygrosspuke to me.

To me the cooking method is not what matters, being overcooked does. There is nothing more vile IMO than overcooked, stringy asparagus.

My favorite way is to cut it on the diagonal, saute for a few minutes then add some juice from a fresh orange along with a generous pinch of kosher salt. By the time the oj is reduced to almost nothing the asparagus is just tender. To finish I add the orange zest and a couple glugs of toasted sesame oil. Easy and yummy.

My favorite is tossing it in olive oil, salt, and pepper and sticking it in the oven with a little fresh grated parm on top.

Also I only eat the tender ends and discard the woody stems.

huh, nothing wrong with steamed asparagus, not too soggy...don't want to turn the oven on...taco's rule...smiling smiley

I've always found it magical how so many vegetables can be transformed by a little olive oil, salt and pepper and a hot oven. And I think we all discard the woody stems. I'm not even sure they are good for vegetable stock.

I am quite aggressive in my woody stem discarding.....

Kale stems are bitter as are others...take leaves off and use for soup. I just got a receipt for beets oven roasted with olive oil salt and pepper, removing all stems, great in salads. The leaves have many nutrients, again, save for soup. Gosh I'm a drag....smiling smiley

Homemade pizza pie! Made 2 large and 6 personal. Will have one for dinner and the others will go in the freezer.

Count me in for homemade pizza pie !

In lieu of that, grilled cheese sandwiches tonight.
If bgriffin is bringing the pizza, I've got the salad covered.

We had grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch! I made my mom one out of homemade rosemary bread and mine was made out of homemade rye.

What kind of cheese did you use with the rosemary bread?

My grilled cheese was homemade too, organic sourdough from wegmans and cheddar rgbh-free cheese from trader joes
Chicken. Salad. Possibly, a pear (later, after I do a shop report).

I use a medley of American, provolone, and swiss.

In the winter I really like to mix it up with different soups and grilled cheese sandwiches. That needs to go on the list.
