What's making me happy today?

Life has lots of little things that give me a lift or a grin for at least a couple of minutes.

Today's was when I brought in the fruit that dropped from our about 6 year old mango tree in the back yard. It has been a great year for the little tree, which produces creamy textured mangoes in the 1-2 pound range mostly. Today's fruit weigh in got us to over 75 pounds of fruit already for this year and the tree is far from finished for the year. This afternoon I will be cleaning and freezing down mango for smoothies throughout the year.

My plan this morning was to cut the grass. Mother Nature had other plans, send the light rain predicted for tonight eight hours early. Now I have a day with nothing planned.

Love mangos. I got a little tree with them as well. Most of the fruit already fell. I have 2-3 mangos still hanging on. They are so sweet too.

I grow peppers in the back as well. It's been way to hot and dry here, however. I'm going to start it back up in the Fall. I got a sheet of plastic down to solarize the soil in order to kill the nematodes. The soil should be ready soon. :-)
We have been so thrilled with a tree ripened mango that we are beginning to plant trees for wider coverage of the year. The Valencia Pride we have starts producing in early August and the last fruit will be gone before mid September, so we planted a new tree that should bear Mar-April and another that is May-June. Hopefully those trees should produce in the next year or two. Now we are looking for fall bearing mangoes.

Many happy moments today, just got a text from my daughter, she landed safely home from her trip to San Francisco (with me), visiting her Aunt, family event, she stayed longer, and she just posted pic's on FB. I went to the Dr.Phil show (15th. Anniversary for his show). They had a party, music before show, laughter and fun. Sat in VIP section. Happy hour before coming home, and last but not least, weather cooled down.

I did an Irish Pub shop and this is what I had:

(you received up to $45 reimbursement):

The place was not cheap.

House Brined Corned Beef (amazing!)
Sausage Rolls (yummy) served with guinness mustard sauce.
Bailey's Cheesecake (delightful) smiling smiley
This is the best year I have EVER had for my grapes. I keep picking and picking and picking them, only to find more. Oh, and I can't seem to stop the tomatoes from ripening on a daily basis. Last year, I lost the rest of my strawberries, only to buy a new plant this year, which has already quadrupled in size and is shooting off runners and strawberries, like nobody's business.
Getting home to find one of my wild rabbits sitting on the patio waiting for some carrots while a few of this year's fawns are racing each other on the hill behind my house.

Never try to teach a pig to sing. It's a waste of your time and it really annoys the pig.
Finally ... the AC has been repaired after three days. No more sitting around in a hot house waiting for the repairman to return with the correct parts.
What's making me happy is that I rescheduled ahead some shops and I have completed the reports before I went to sleep last night. Now, I am free to do what I want. I'll be busy but no m'shopping. Time for a break.
This happened a few weeks ago, but I'm still happy about it: My kitchen sink was overflowing and disposal not working. Plumber comes out and I ask how much does a new disposal cost...he tells me $800.00. I die, what!!
He says it may not be broken, goes to truck, gets a tool and (I swear) in 1 minute everything is working. He says, it's fixed, and I couldn't believe it. Now, the cost for him coming out to unplug sink was $69.00. I go write him a check. He smiles and says, "This ones on the house". This was the owner, so able to do that.
Even he thought $69.00 for a minutes work, well, maybe not!!

edited to add: your as happy as your happiest child.

That would make me jump for joy, Irene_L.A. Just a consultation with a plumber is very expensive.

Reminds me of my pleasant surprise when I was told that my management would write off the cost of replacing my mail box lock to compensate for the wrong information they provided that delayed the resolution. That was more than two weeks of no mail! Sometimes the planets are alligned properly when least expected. My condo management was the last one from whom I expected that gesture. So. yes, that simple thing somehow brightened my day.
Reorganized the master closet by getting rid of most anything that I haven't worn this year. Bought all new matching wood hangers, and arranged clothes by type and color. Made me happy to see the finished result.

Now scheduling travel shops for the day after Christmas through mid-January.
1. Pressure-washed the concrete patio last night and it looks great!
2. Had my gyno appointment today (I know, TMI) so now I don't have to go back for another year.
3. No shops the rest of the week!
4. Two more days until the weekend!
Cleaning out my closets, has been so hard to give my favorite clothes away. I've had my good stuff over 20 years. Looking at my daughters high school prom dress, worn once. Just can't do it.
I know I'll feel lighter and be happy when I do it......oh, someone help me!!!

Irene, that doesn't sound like something that made you smile or happy today.

Your right, but moving forward, it will when it's done.

Pulling over in between shops to take a call and negotiating a better price for a shop 40 miles away from home then driving 2 minutes to the location. Made it home in time to take my lady to the doctor and have a relaxing lunch in the park.
Had only a couple of shops today so cleaned the refrigerator because tonight garbage goes to the curb.

Got a good wash down done inside, on all drawers and shelves, dribs and drabs of dressings and sauces tossed, freezer cleared and cleaned, even washed the exterior of the case and reorganized the 'family bulletin board' of magnet held items on the front. As a grand finale I pulled it out and washed the floor under it and vacuumed the coils. Looks like new. Fresh boxes of baking soda in freezer and refrigerator parts and everything is put away more logically.

Tired but smilin'.
At the last minute, I added work tasks. Later, I relaxed. Very nice. smiling smiley

How cool. I forgot to mention any and every time I see a hummingbird in my backyard it makes me smile. I don't care what else is happening.

Monday when my boos told me "You have been doing a great job. Hockey season is getting ready to start. Pick a hockey game and I will get you 2 tickets in the companies suite and I will not schedule you the day after."
Free parking, private buffet and all the Budweiser you can handle.

Lisa, that sounds just AWESOME!! I'm envious!

2 happy things for me today....getting a video message from my DIL that shows my beautiful 9 1/2 month old granddaughter TAKING 7 STEPS cautiously and slowly, but still looking quite satisfied with herself!! Second thing is continued improvement from physical therapy of my herniated disc.....horribly painful when it occurred 2 months ago, but making EXCELLENT progress with physical therapy.....feeling better each day, and THAT makes me happy!
Awake earlier that usual (before birds and roosters) and productive. Gazing at now-too-large fave skirt and hoping that whoever buys it next will have at least as much fun in it as I did. Wondering what will replace this fabulous all-season, all-purpose skirt... Is it too much to ask for same skirt, smaller size?

Wondering if any of the critters I see during my morning job will pose for pictures today, or at least be still for a few moments while I fetch a camera.... Hoping the wild rabbits will visit and forage.

And it's not even 3 am. I think this will be a veeerrryyy happy day! grinning smiley
