Phone shop paying $5 which is not worth doing

I just saw a recorded phone shop requiring screenshots and multiple attempts paying a mere $5.
The company would not let me see the report until I accepted the shop. There are tons of them available all due this week like in the next 2 days. The report requires you to research the Dr office being called to see what type of Dr he or she is and then make up a scenario matching the type of Dr.
Multiple calls required and a whole list of items that need to be noted and commented on.
What a joke! No wonder no one has taken them!
I asked to unassign

I saw these too and the $5 shop fee and nothing in it for me (reimbursment) screamed 10ft pole. These might be good for someone unable to leave their house, but still should pay more from what you are describing.
Phone jobs, in general, seem like they are too much prep for the pay. Maybe if you can get LOTS of the same scenario where you prep once and call repeatedly to say the same things over and over? Or, if there is a higher pay task attached. But the time and energy requirement for what you describe is worth much more than $5.

This about sums up my experience with phone shops. More time and effort than they are worth.
This particular one was quite a joke. It requires you to call on the recorded line using their access code, etc. so thee is not doubt you made the call. Yet, it requires screenshots of your cell phone call log to prove you called. REALLY? It is a joke. And the questionnaire was many pages long with all sorts of questions. Frankly put a lot of nerve for a $5 shop fee!
There used to be a bunch of college application shops on one of the platforms. This was during the pandemic. I took one, thinking I could learn the drill and bang out a few every week but it turned out you were not eligible to do another for 999 days so, so much for that.
The MSC is probably trolling for shoppers so desperate for money. they are willing to apply for the assignment. Many yrs. ago, Trendsource offered phone shops for 50 cents, but, when there were not many/any takers, the fees reverted to the prior sum of $2.
The other thing about phone shops is that they don't generate tax-deductible milage. Low-fee in-person shops at least offer that silver lining. You're paying full income and self-emplyment taxes on phone shops, so the $5 goes down to $3.64 (depending on your tax bracket). For me, phone shops only make sense if I have already done them before and they come up frequently. Even at that, they can involve multiple call attempts, long holds, and the need to call back and cancel appointments.
I have done a total of 130 of these right now. Incredibly easy. Most of them were done in 2 minutes tops. The others that couldn't be reached in the first attempt required 2 more attempts. Usually, if once it to goes to voicemail, the other two attempts too. I save the screenshot, upload it and done. I did most during spring break and then during recess in school or whenever kids were out for specials. You don't need to research the office before nor do you have to give out any info. If they ask for any personal info, you just say just interested in earliest available and if they still won't give it, you end the call. You don't have to make an appointment so there is no question of canceling it.
The most time I spent was when I was on hold once for 15 minutes and the guidelines say, if you are on hold for more than 15 mins, end the call and that would be attempt 1. The funny thing is I rarely get to ask about the earliest appointment. It is mostly an issue like the doctor does not work with them or wrong location.

Not enough people deduct their taxes from the fee to see what they are really making! Although you can deduct your phone or a portion of it, I completely agree people should consider the taxes that are coming out of the fee.
The call itself may take only a few minutes, but what about the report? isn't that the total effort? not trying to be sarcastic, I swear.
I think I am done with them now. There are only so many phone shops you can do that are repetitive in nature. So far, 131 done. They came up with 150 more per shopper today but I think I won't be taking them anymore. Gets tiring and boring trying to finish them. They should increase the fee if they are not moving anymore.
There are a lot of people taking shops for less than I find acceptable but if $5 suits them, I am not going to say they shouldn't. I'll continue skimming cream where I find it. I'm still chuckling that is also frowned upon by some.
Maybe Mum realized that the shops were not as great or easy as she claimed. Seems if she has done so many and finds them so lucrative she would be doing more. Maybe she got too rich doing them so decided she does not need to do anymore--- or perhaps it was all a fabrication? Who knows
@Fatlady.. you are hilarious! No one gets rich doing phone shops. I am substitute teacher and I do this as a side hustle when I have time. I had some time during spring break and during lunch/recess. That being said, I have been with intellishop for 9 years now and have done 3090 shops to be exact. That is what it shows on my account. 90 percent of them are phone shops. I do a few retail.
So, I am not allowed to get tired/change my opinion? Also, I did 130 of them. So, I guess I was done.

I think it just seems funny that, when the initial poster described the assignment requirements and that they didn't feel the compensation was adequate, you countered that the shop was so easy and boasted of having completed 130 of them. Then, your very next post then stated that you had completed 131 of them and you were now done doing them because 'they are tiring and boring and the fee should be increased'..

Amazing how something so easy that only takes a few minutes to finish becomes tiring and boring so quickly. As you say "Most of them were done in 2 minutes tops" even with breaks in between you could knock off 25 an hour at $5 each which would be $125 for an hour's work! Not sure why you would not take more and more to reach say 100000 shops with Intellishop and retiring from sub teaching while you rake in the cash! Where I live seems like not one has been taken any. The list is long and sitting there because the shops are a pain for the low fee offered and anyone with half a brain will not take shops with screenshots and the other requirements for $5. Guess you need the cash more than me, Mum. Good luck

There are hardware shops that pay $2.00 with over 20 questions. The coordinator was appalled that I would not do the shops .
Shoppers need to boycott low paying shops. If no one takes them they will raise the fees. Shame on those who shops for low fees they make companies get away with insulting fees
