No email for me, but from this forum I get the impression they've been offering combos at select locations for a while. None of the locations I shop have them, however.@HonnyBrown wrote:
Did anyone else receive an email from them? They will be offering Combos and Meals.

My area hasn't had combos the last few times I've gone. My husband saw the "grilled cheese/patty melt" on TikTok or YouTube a while ago and we have been getting those ever since. The staff is not surprised by this- there is even a Patty Melt option on their cash register system. Price is the same as a little cheeseburger.

I wonder if it tastes like a cheeseburger. Where I grew up, a patty melt was made with regular sandwich bread instead of hamburger buns. If I remember, next time I do a FG I'll order one.

My mom made patty melts with leftover meatloaf and either rye or sourdough bread. She would usually have the plastic encased cheeses in white and yellow to choose between.@Susan L. wrote:

So, I was disappointed in a patty melt made with a hamburger patty and white bread.when I had one at a restaurant for nostalgia's sake. It isn't that it's bad, it's just basically a cheeseburger but with bread rather than a bun. That was a dish we had once in a while but it was "Mom forgot to buy buns" cheeseburgers.

I've always seen them offered as Frisco Melts, and I'll go with the suburb in the D/FW metroplex so as not to insult anyone from SF.
As it were, Frisco, TX used to be out in the middle of nowhere, and is still most famous for being the home of Southfork Ranch, where the TV show "Dallas" was based.
I went to school with a guy who actually lived there. Doug Box has written a couple of books about it. His dad was Cloyce Box, a former Detroit Lion-turned-mega oilman.
