I see adult entertainment shops in my area all the time that pay a lot. Not gonna do that for any amount, although I did do a few Hooters years ago when the MS pickings were slim. The food was great and I actually enjoyed it.

famous chilaquiles place on Sunset

@olympia tennenbaum I have been paid to eat chilaquiles before! I specifically remember because the editor (who was from the midwest) wrote me back to ask what they were, and if it was spelled right. They could not be bothered to google it, apparently.
Sandy also asked about the location, so for any other Angelinos out there, Tacos Delta on Sunset!
I also recently got paid to eat what might have been the best taco of my life, in Bangkok, which is really surprising, because good Mexican food in Thailand had been hard to find.
And @rargirl, I feel your pain. The taco was no better...which really puts me back on topic, because I am refusing to shop anything outside of my normal routine moving forward.
You want me to order breakfast at 7 AM?...Nope!
Complain about something non-existent...Forget it!
Make up some crazy excuse to sit at the bar before/after dinner...Never again!
Not leave the resort for the entire duration of my stay...It better be on a very small island!

I'm guessing I could have been paid to eat them but haven't made that selection. Sometimes there are too many good choices. Other times you're just searching for something edible!

It's a breakfast staple at almost all of the resorts in Mexico.

I refuse the bank complaint shops- people can be fired for no reason which is not right- I also will not do the tax prep shops. I wonder how someone who has mystery shopping income would not be suspected of being a shopper? I do not trust tax firms- use my own CPA who I know is open year round and highly qualified- I also steer away from dining shops where the amount of picture taking and required narrative in the report would make it not fun at all. I did a few where timing and taking photos of food and being sure the photos were good enough made it a miserable experience. I also have been steering away from one company's apartment shops- I did one a couple of years ago and the reports were miserable to write- very detailed with extensive narrative for $45 then waiting a week for a follow up which never came as the complex was designed for younger folks and I suspect the agent knew I would not fit in- trying to find objections that were valid and pretending to really need an apartment in a complex where a senior citizen would not really want to live was not to my liking. Also some low paying phone shops with ridiculous guidelines. Some of the senior living shops which were phone calls- despite giving a pretty good story I often got the impression that they knew I was not really looking for a place for my parents- it was embarrassing when they started asking my parents home address, phone number so that they could look them up to see where they lived in the town- when there wee no such people! One assisted living rep actually called me back and said she looked up the names I gave her and there were no such people and accused me of being a fraud and questioned whey I was calling and wasting her time! The rate sheet shops are on my not wanting to do list as I have been blown off several times after making 3-4 phone calls.

There are tons of people that go everyday and just sit there doing their work on their devices, using the free Wi-Fi, plugging all their electronics in, using the restroom, and never purchasing anything. They stay there all day without making a purchase. All their stuff is spread out either on the large tables designated for the handicapped or they take two small tables for themselves and use 3 chairs. One to sit on, one for their book bag and one for their feet.

Anyway, an update on the cruise shopper with norovirus....he's still sick and barely able to function.
He says at this point, he may lose all the money they spent on the cruise......he hasn't been able to finish his reports...sounds like they may be overdue and not sure if he was able to finish all the observations.
This is really a heads up for me wrt any shops with a big upfront outlay. I feel for the guy. Talk about a double whammy.
