After more than 11 years of use on hundreds of video shops, my Lawmate PV-500 Video Camera rig has started having an intermittent issue. Video is fine, but sometimes an annoying background noise starts and then continues throughout the rest of the shop.
Weeks of shops have sometimes passed, leading me to think the problem was solved, but then it occurs again to ruin another shop. I have tried different camera/mics, SD cards, and switching to the other (rarely used but same age) battery. This lead me to think the DVR may be bad, or possibly the receptacle for the camera/mic plug may be worn out. I do not have an extra DVR to see if switching them cures the issue. Does anyone here know what is causing my issue, or know of a place where I could have the DVR checked and repaired?
I prefer to keep my rig, because it has features that the new ECO2 version does not seem to have from the information I have found on the internet. The ECO2 apparently only records in a maximum of only10 minute file segments and does not have a setting to change resolution, where I can set my ECO to 720p and get 19 minutes per file segment. I also have no use for a touch screen that might accidentally get pressed during a shop. I definitely have no use for motion detect recording, which would ruin a shop if activated accidentally.
