From the article, it sounded like the shopper would pretend to have a visual or hearing imparment. This often comes with age, so for many of us, this would not be too far of a stretch. I have difficulty reading small print and sometimes text on a moblie device. I think I might be able to pull this one off.
Good thing you actually included the article. Your short message otherwise would be out of context. In context it appears to that this mystery shop program is targeted at how the bank employees are treating and helping out customers with vision and/or hearing issues. No different than many other assignments where they are looking for targeted issues.
If they want you to pretend to be blind or deaf, you would need to know sign language or braille. They would has have to pay you extra for this. I would expect $100 or more.
People become deaf or blind later in life due to illness or injury. They may not necessarily know braille or sign language.

All I got from that link was politics and a request for money. Nothing to do with Barclays.
Hubby is pretty deaf. He's not learning sign language.
My aunt went blind, she didn't learn Braille.
I could probably do these.
Ideally, they could find people who are blind or deaf.
I did not get that they want people who are totally blind from.the article. They seem to want people with impaired hearing or seeing. They did not say blind or deaf. My eyes have been bad all my life. I would only need to exaggerate a little bit.
