Five Guys Combo Pricing

I just returned from 5G and they now have a Combo: Small Burger, small fries, and small drink for 12.99. Would be nice if we could use this for our shops.

Could we, though? Like, after you wait for them to offer a side and drink, and they do, can you say something like, "Oh, yeah, might as well make it that combo." Or will that violate the rules?
I'm sure we can, their MSC isn't like the blob. When they had Panda Express we could order appetizers and drinks with our meals too.
I just did a Five Guys, and the one here in Podunk didn't have combos. Since they put so much emphasis on the ordering process, I'm not sure they'd allow it, even if you asked to make it a combo (with a regular-sized drink) after the fact. It would be nice, though; even when I order a plain little burger (no cheese) or a hot dog, I don't come in under reimbursement.

This MSC has Sonic shops where we can order items individually or as a combo. That surprised me since it reduces the opportunity for an upsell.

Perhaps @mfisherri will chime in on this one.

What if you agree to the drink and fries and the employee enters it as a combo on your behalf? Now what? You tell them you want it individually charged? Or you change the size of your drink to mess up the combo that the employee "hooked you up with?"
I have not heard anything about combo pricing yet...(nor have I seen it being reported other than here on this thread) @ShopperGirly - would you DM me the location? I wonder if the store was doing a holiday special.
I did one yesterday and no combo was on the menu.
There are a lot of question changes, so be sure to read the guidelines even if you have done tons of these.
There is more emphasis on the crew, service and timing than was the bun toasted.
I went to Five Guys, Yucaipa, CA yesterday. No combos or suggested combos for me.
Youcrappa? I wondered who did that location. You probably take the bonused ones at Cabazon too :-P

I was hoping to get one when driving thru at Christmas time. I did get Rancho Mirage for a nice bonus before thanksgiving.
What's so bad about Yucaipa? I know folks that live there, and if I'd known about that area when I bought my house I probably would have gone out there instead. But I was stuck in MoVal, and that was a bad choice. But then again, I probably would have ended up working in the SBDO instead of Menifee Garage, and that wouldn't have been good for me, I may not have been able to suffer through working in SBDO for 15 years.
ShopperGirly, as much as you want to deny it, I'm certain we are in the same area. Just kidding.

But with the pleasantries aside now, yes! To my amazement, the cashier offered me the classic combo for $12.99. As if covering all bases and not forgetting to offer the milkshake. She even pointed to the brand new sign for it with a delighted smile. I couldn't believe it. I thought it was a dream! When I further inquired when this promo began, I was told it started at the beginning of the new year. Because I gave perfect ratings, my shop was accepted shortly after.
I have a Five Guys tomorrow in South Florida. Will BOLO for this combo. I will report back.

Seems like it's a franchisee thing. I have a friend in the Chicago area who I just got started on these shops and his FG locations have the $12.99 combo pricing. Mine in New York do not. He got the combo on a shop and it was approved.

What MisterBill said, it seems like it's at participating locations. I had to look up the hours of a Five Guys location online. On the location page, there's a blurb about the classic combo at participating locations.
I just visited a 3rd location today. There is more signage and I did notice in fine print "at participating locations". I have to say this really doesn't benefit me financially as it doesn't affect the bonus pay. I.E.: I am spending less OOP but getting less reimbursement. My cost with tax was $14.09. It does, however, bode well for the success of 5G and I definitely want to see them do well and stay in business smiling smileysmiling smileysmiling smiley
It didn't occur to me in the moment, but it looks like I could have added an extra burger patty to the classic combo and then be about $0.50 over reimbursement, after sales tax here.

By the way, has anyone else noticed there always seems to be one $5 bill in the tip jar? As if trying to elicit further cash tips at the register.

Okie, that's "Priming the pump" or, "Seeding (or salting)" the jar. A server puts their own money in first for exactly that reason - so customers feel that they have to follow suit and be as good or better than the perceived customer who left the tip.

Yes! I noticed a Fiver also! Upon reflection, I realize I could add the extra patty as OKIE suggests or even add Cheese and Bacon to the Little Hamburger and still be under the $17.25. So- more food for the money!
This new combo looks like a pretty good deal. Hopefully the Little Fries are the same size as when ordered separately. It appears it has a smaller "classic" drink, but it's easy enough to refill it a few times when dining in. I assume when ordering we should ask for the burger only first to allow them to provide the upsell. But... has anyone had any issues having their shop approved by choosing the combo to begin with?
I was taken aback by being offered a combo last week but since it included all three items (even though the drink is smaller) I accepted it. I also wrote the help desk to ask but they didn't respond. But the shop was approved.

Who reads the fine print?
Finally heard from the Help Desk and they said it was fine to 'accept' the combo only if it was 'offered.'

When the order taker asked me about the size, I kept replying, "Little." Kudos to him/her for suggesting the combo with the "little" drink!
Ok. So I figured I could add about $3 to my combo and still be under the reimbursement. Get this: I was give a "Little Cheeseburger" combo for the 12.99 and the bacon was added at no charge. Next- I will try adding a patty and see what happens.
ShopperGirly, I saw that too. Where you could make it a cheeseburger too for the same price. Don't take offense to this, but I personally would not take that particular cheese. Looking forward to your Five Guys adventures!
