Jersey Mike’s…worth it or PITA?

I've never done a Jersey Mikes shop. But I have had their sandwiches, I'll take my money to another sandwich shop at any opportunity. Ya all have fun with this one, you'll get no competition from me.

The "knee ligament" MSC is the one being discussed. $15 and NO pay. Also not allowing you to order any sandwiches. If I saw correctly, it was NO hot sandwiches. I don't bother with this MSC. I think I last did a shop with them during the Blaze pizza shops.
I admit that I had to Google "knee ligament" to figure it out. Very clever hint, indeed!

I just checked on the knee ligament site. Around here there are two types offered: 1 sandwich and 2 sandwiches (1 hot, 1 cold) and no fee, just reimbursement. The photos required are the same as the Sassie company offering these shops however the Sassie company offered a fee.

Thats interesting. Only the 1 sandwich is offered in my area. It was just rolled out in my area a week or so ago.

Me as well. Love a quality grilled/hot sandwich, especially during this time of the year.

To my amazement and surprise, I just saw (and accepted) 2 Jersey Mike's Dine-In shops near me. They had shops at all of the SW New Jersey locations that I am aware of. After I accepted the second shop, the rest disappeared. I am very happy. There appears to be a 60-day rotation for each location.

Could not pay me enough to eat such low quality subs.

Funny thing is apparently they are not paying. Reimbursing the cost of the meal and they have a bunch of restrictions.

I would like to hear back from those that have done it to see if their shops were accepted. This type of shop is not my cup of tea.

If I can only order certain things and I have to take pictures that are not so easy to frame, then money in the form of a fee plus the reimbursement is expected.

Is the MSC getting paid in sandwiches too?

I am in the Rousseau Morledzep camp, I am not volunteering for this assignment. That is what is going on here.
This is no different than most of their food shops. They are not an MSC that really likes to offer shopper fees. This is there M.O. So the fact that the JM shop has no fee is no surprise. What is a surprise is that so many are willing to do the work for them with no fee. I get doing a high-end steak house where you might get $200 to spend. That makes more sense, but not for some sub sandwich with limited menu items.
Reminds me of the hasbro pizza shops. Many photos and a measly reimbursement for a meal. I would just make a healthy meal at home with a fraction of the cost.

These assignments are deleted as soon as I see one.
I’ll chime in again. This shop was not hard at all and I wouldn’t say had “multiple restrictions.” You can order any sub as long as it’s a sliced meat sub and not grilled. The photo requirement was not difficult for me. I have shopped for this company for years and know they rarely pay a fee. The report was easy. Will I do this again? Probably not, but it’s by no means a 10ft pole shop.

@gigishopper

Wait, report not hard, photos not difficult, but you will probably NOT do this again? Why not?

Seems like you think the assignment is on the easier side, so why would you NOT do it again if you did it the 1st time?
This location is walking distance from my house. I might pick this location again IF available after the rotation AND I want a sub sandwich. I would not spend gas and drive time for this particular shop that offers no pay. I walk by this location every day as its part of my regular walking route.

Is that a sufficient answer?

This is why I passed on it. The Mike guy made billions in sale and only $15 reimbursement for all the work. Go during lunch hour if possible. It usually gets busy so you can take pics more stealthily.

I went when it was busy and it was difficult to take photos of the slicer. The employee used it the entire time. The plexiglas made it hard to get good photos of the prep area.
It depends on the location too. Some locations have the slicer in the back counter instead of the front area where the sandwiches are made. Too much hassle.

I regularly do shops for this no fee company. The reports are easy and I enjoy the food/beverages. They are not something I would normally pay for but is a nice treat. I only do them if I'm planning to be in the same area.
I registered for this MSC at Okie's recommendation. JM has multiple locations within a 10 minute drive. Shopped it on Friday. Although I was initially hesitant about the photos, I submitted what I could and noted that the produce line is blocked by chip and cookie shelves. My shop was accepted this morning. I'll do this one again as I don't always need a fee. If I'm out and about I'll take a reimbursed sub any day. I'll take this restaurant over competitor sub stores any day.

I guess Mike's Way = +juice, -fee
It's funny that some people complain about the $9 five guys pay and hold out for more, but some of these same people will take $0 pay for Jersey Mikes.

I like both places and will eat at both places, but I am not going to do a free shop when I expect more than $9 from five guys without all the nonsense picture requirements. The only irritating thing about five guys is the 43 pages you have to navigate thru to the end of the report (instead of just on one page).
I hesitated to post on this subject, but, as some shoppers are not aware, I decided to share.

Almost 18 yrs. ago, I experienced my first shop concerning a pic. It was for Quizno's and paid the following: $15+$5 for a sandwich. In addition, an optional $5 for me to snap an exterior shot of the building.

Folks, If you are OK with work such as exists in this thread, enough said from me. As the old adage states, "One person's meat, is another's poison. I am not willing to complete more work for less money than almost 2 decades ago. Also, keep in mind than each pic involves the potential of the job being declined.
Me too as I vote for a grilled sandwich. No fee, only enough reimbursement for a sandwich, my closest location not even being shopped as I looked at all the avail and all the be a back up locations. So a drive and my favorite sandwich there is not allowed, narratives and photos for no fee. I plan to skip this job. Boohoo as I would love to get my grilled sandwich. ote=Zek]

With HBBD and shopperbob chiming in I am reminded of the conversation lately about TXRH where HBBD questioned SB spending his own money to eat there when it could be compensated. I feel like this is a similar situation.

I have not signed up for one of these yet but I'll scope out the slicer next time I visit to gauge how easy it would be to photograph. I personally like JM so doing this shop, if simple enough, would cover something I might purchase anyway.

For me, shopping seems to fall into three categories - something I'm doing strictly for money. Something that replaces a necessary or regular purchase (like groceries and oil changes) and then something that replaces discretionary expenses like hotels and fine dining. Obviously shops like this aren't making anyone rich but it sounds like some people would shop there anyway and would be willing to trade a report for a sandwich.

This MSC isn't really known for paying. Anyone who shops for them is seemingly okay with the value proposition. Would I like getting paid, sure. But sometimes paying for a dinner out is okay with me too.

I

Mine was accepted today. I detailed in an earlier post that I couldn't get the photos they wanted clearly, but that I explained it in the notes, and it was accepted. I still wouldn't do another one without a large bonus.
Mine was accepted, with a warning that my slicer photo was unacceptable but they would accept it “this time.” The editor warned me that future shops could be rejected due to the photo. They don’t have to worry….i won’t do that shop again!
There are no restrictions because beyond ordering a cold sub you can order your grilled sub and 3 drinks, 8 bags of chips, pickles on the side and 1 brownie.
plus my accountant tells me that fees are taxable but reimbursment is not.

To clear up what I think might be some confusion here, there are 2 different MSCs being discussed here.

I haven't done the one that used to require 2 sandwiches along with photos, phone call and no pay if not bonused in a few years. (Knee ligament msc) Report was terrible, imo.

The one I did recently and the one the OP did (I think) was for a Sassie MSC. There was a fee plus reimbursement for 1 sandwich plus I had a $15 bonus. Uncomfortable interior photos were required.

I also used to do them for a different company that was testing Google Pay. That one was the best. Large reimbursement for 2 sandwiches and no other bs in the store. Just screen shots done at home. Sadly, I haven't seen them in quite awhile now.

Edited to add, ive had anterior cruciate ligament surgery before it was done arthroscopicly (12" scar) 1976, followed by arthroscopic meniscus surgery 5 years ago...3 little dots.

Ohhhh, the Map Direction folks still have some to?
