The trips just keep on coming!

Every time I think I’ll have a little break to crunch numbers and put together a post, another wave of shops comes up. However, the last few Phillips 66 gas shops have not been reposted, so I finally have some time to analyze some recent routes instead of hitting the road again.

The most recent one was an overnight route to southern Utah, and some of the most stunning landscapes I get to visit.

Here’s the shop breakdown:

4 Shell (I let an 18-pump location drop because I was running behind, and, well, 18 pumps)

10 Chevron Customer First, including a couple I picked up which combined paid more than the Shell I dropped and took up way less time.

3 Exxon

9 Phillips 66

Gross receipts: $598.96
Hours (shops + drive time): 25.5
Mileage: 840
Hotel: ~ $125
Meals: ~ $85
Tax deductions: ~ $630

If one strictly looks at net proceeds then the resulting hourly wage might be too low for some.

As stated elsewhere, I look at things from a cash flow standpoint, so this one was an excellent trip.

Almost $600 received within a week of completing the work, and effectively zero tax liability come next April.

More importantly, it's more gross $$$ than I could generate while driving rideshare over the same period of time, with somebody else buying most of my gas.

I'm slow today...am I calculating this correctly at roughly $15/hour as your income estimate?...tax deduction dependent on other issues, so not considered for the number I came up with. I would estimate the cost outside of hotel & meals to be over $560...so yes YMMV

As posted elsewhere and often, I don't factor in drive time when determining a route's viability.

The more time on the road, the greater the mileage deduction to offset the income being generated.

It's all about the cash flow... maximum input now, with minimum outgo come April.
