Frustrating

I walked out of a bank shop and noticed a chicken chain restaurant a few stores away. I contacted the MSC and asked them to assign the shop since I was there.

I perform the shop, come home and do the report. When I submit, I get an error that the shop is due the next day.

That happened to me once, but I caught it before I started the report and was able to change the date. Once you start the report, you can't change it. It sounds like you requested it for the day of and the scheduler put it in for the next day. No need for anyone to blame you. The only mistake you made was not catching it before you went in to enter the report. Yes, frustrating.
wonder if it was overseas and the time zone difference was a factor? Their day could have been 1 day ahead depending on the time of the phone call. Just a possibility or just a mistake on their part. I think the thing is...never assume these goofballs did it right. Always check it before doing it just to be safe. You would think you could trust it to be done right, but obviously not.

I had this happen a few times. Help Desk has been able to clear it and reschedule the shop for me. Worth a shot if it happens again in the future.

I just had the same thing happen. The help desk responded very quickly and rescheduled it for me so I could report it by the deadline.

Why? I requested it for that day.

There was so much back and forth with this MSC. I was ready to throw the towel in.

And to top it off, after a week, a scheduler says "I will let you turn in this report despite it being x days late." They are at fault, but he is being gracious.

Honey posts--I was ready to throw the towel in.

Bob comments--Each shopper must decide for their self the degree with which they are willing to "roll with a punch." Last week, an MSC with whom I had been contracted for 19 yrs., decided I would not be paid. Their decision was predicated upon the job location having neither a business card nor any hand-outs to prove I had visited. Realizing that situation could easily play-out again, I requested, and was granted, a termination. I am unwilling to be aggravated.
@shopperbob

When you are required to have a card or some material and it's not available, do you not do something else? I would take picture of employee (without them knowing) and also of the outside (front of store) to have some proof I was there. I think either of those things would be sufficient evidence. Or maybe purchase something minimal and get a receipt.

Daddy, the guidelines were specific in CAPS stating a business card was required. The MSC exercised their prerogative to refuse payment and I mine to terminate. It was an ATV assignment, with nothing inexpensive. In my opinion, it was not my responsibility to ensure the business was able to provide either a card or a sheet.

I had completed 266 shops over a 19 yr. period. The company lost a shopper who never flaked and handled jobs without a concern for narrative. I, on the other hand, gave up money for which I have not the slightest need,

Folks, it would be interesting to be a fly on the wall of an MSC and hear how some companies ridicule shoppers.

I edited this post to remove a paragraph I considered only slightly relative to the thread.

Yes, i understand the requirements. You cannot force them to give you something they do not have. While you may be unhappy with the MSC and choose to terminate, that is fine. I'm trying to think of a way to "save the shop" and make everyone happy. I definitely would have "snuck" a picture of an employee (even if it wasn't the one I was working with). I also might have considered making a purchase of a part (even if it was $$$, get the receipt and go to the car and take a picture. Then come back inside and do the return. I know it involves extra steps, but you already have a sunk cost with the time you were there and invested. You obviously felt the shop paid enough for you to take the assignment. So why not consider a way to salvage the shop?

I appreciated your Terminator stories, but in the end, you "threw away" a company that you obviously were willing to work for if the pay met your criteria. You not shopping for them won't even cross their mind in the future, but instead you won't be able to do the assignments you were willing to do.

Now, if I had done what I suggested (picture of employee and/or a purchase with receipt) and an explanation of what I did to "save the shop" since there was no business card AND they still rejected it, then I am all in on the termination. I'm only saying for myself on a shop, "What can I/should I do if something needs to happen and they do not have it?"
Daddy, what you have mentioned is logical. At 82, though, I have lost considerable immediate comprehension and not carrying a SmartPhone, would have only been possible were I to have had my camera with me. For me, the aggravation of the situation was not worth continuing the relationship.

To the best of my recollection, this was a first; in the future, my Kodak will be in the car
@shopperbob

Yes, as a software engineer I am a logical individual. I've had to improvise on shops in the past. So I'm prepared for screwy things like this. Not everyone is as quick on their feet as others. You have shopped for a long time and that is good. I don't know what my mind will be like at the age of 82. I just want things to work, so I do the best I can to overprovide details and pictures of things even when not required. I figure they can remove excess, but I cannot make up for not meeting the minimums.

Separate question on the smart phone issue, is there a particular reason you choose to not have one? My father in law has one and has no clue how to use it, but he has one. My wife will have to call him and tell him how to open a text or send a text. Just not sure why you are not using/wanting one. My mom is your age and loves hers. She loves the talk to text feature and will talk for 5 minutes into her phone. I tell her no one is going to read something that long. Are u worried about EMF? Or just do not want to be like everyone else?
Daddy, I am not averse to technology nor am I a contrarian; I simply have no use for mobile phones. I am not one who enjoys phone chatting and I am not a transceiver of texts. If, though, I needed money, that would be different; I would adapt to the situation.
