Hazmat shops.

I recall in the past when you did a Hazmat shop, it needed to be in zones 5-8 from you. I read the instructions and nowhere did I see that.
I took one today that was bonused and decided to send it to myself in a nearby city. I don't know if it will be rejected or not but decided that I could reuse the package rather than sending it away to someone else.

I did one last week that was in a zone far from me and it was a care package for my grandson.

I don't believe that requirement is upheld anymore with this MSC.

There is no distant zone requirement currently. They are supposed to offer Ground Advantage, and you are supposed to accept. In the last two weeks, they have all offered Ground Advantage which I, of course, accepted.

It's crazy that there's no distance requirement with these because they will pretty much always offer Ground Advantage if you're shipping it locally and even if it went Priority, it wouldn't fly..makes no sense, but whatever they say.

I have done only one of the hazmat shops since the current MSC got them. The clerk refused to ship the package unless it had a hazmat label on it. So, I just bought $5 worth of stamps so I could upload a receipt. Then I left and submitted the report.
Why didn’t you send it with the label?

I have had several clerks look to see if the box had a hazmat label. None dud, so they just affixed a yellow label. Some print a postage label that contains a large hazmat line at the bottom.

You can't have any labels on the box before going into the post office.

The clerks have a label they can put on that says surface transportation only. If you are shipping a Li-Ion battery, which I think was one of the scenarios one time, the DOT requires a special label depending on whether you are shipping a battery that is inside a product or a loose battery. Without the DOT label, clerks should refuse shipment altogether as to send it via ground violates DOT rules.

There is the truth.
Then there is the right thing to say.
Did they actually reimburse you for the stamps?

I had a HazMat where the clerk refused to ship, and the survey said to just upload another picture of the package in the receipt section. Which is sort of dumb, but oh well.

Also not super pumped they added narrative to this project.

My job instructions neither gave me a label nor said that I had to buy one. It turned out better anyway, because I bought $5 (reimbursed) worth of stamps to get a receipt for shop proof.
Different rules apply in Nevada.

Thank you for the warning. I will make a note to not do any HazMat shops when I shop in other states.
I also will never do one again, I had one rejected since I told the clerk I had a small bottle of perfume when asked .
