Wawa can no longer use rewards card

Just received the email about not being able to use your reward card unless the cashier asks. I've probably done 50 of these and they have only asked once or twice. This really stinks. No more $6 hoagies or $2 off rewards which allow me to upgrade with free bacon and still stay under reimbursement.

I got the same email — one for each Wawa mystery shop scheduled on Monday or later. I get asked about 25% of the time. I am sad about this. Maybe they have a new training program and they will ask more often? I can only hope.

I have rarely been asked. I usually have my phone in my hand just out of habit, and sometimes they just reach out and scan. Hopefully, there was some new training that now requires them to ask. Otherwise, we are all losing a lot of points.
When you "use your rewards card", how do you do it? Do you have the cashier scan the rewards card in the app, as a key chain, or other? Please be specific...
For me, the easiest way to accumulate points is to use the Wawa Rewards tag on my keychain. My son prefers having them scan the barcode in his phone app. Whenever I have redeemed points for rewards, I select the reward in my phone app and then have them scan my phone app.

We get fully reimbursed gor the full amount in most cases.

They've been asking more often this month, but still not enough. It bothers me because it's a subtle knock to our compensation and I'm confident every shopper does what I do: wait until you're about to swipe your card and go "Oh wait, I forgot, can I scan this?" and pull out my keys.

But I can also read between the lines. Wawa has been pressuring their employees more to do this, and some of them clearly offered the excuse "Well I can't ask because sometimes they offer too quickly." Which I'm sure isn't true, but how do they know? So it's easier to come down on their own people if we take the hard line.

I've decided I will knock off a star on the ranking if they don't ask. Usually you have to screw up my order to lose a star, or make me wade through trash. But if the client wants this to be strict, I can oblige. I may have to get stricter on other stuff too so it's not simply a drop from 5->4.
I did just lower the score today since, the cashier did not ask and the Deli person only called my number.
some stores had posibility to add purchases (after you paid) to be counted for royalty programs. For example Haagen Dazs. May be wawa has that too.

Well, you know you don't have to only use the rewards card to earn rewards points, right? You can link the rewards card to say, um, a gift card.
since that new rule did Wawa's yesterday and today. The total number of shops 6, with score 50/50.
