Five Guys vs all other fast food/fast casual

People probably jump all over the Cane's shops because they are much easier to do and they were planning on eating at Cane's anyway. Even I do them for no shop fee occasionally if it's a location right by home or work.

How many of us would otherwise be going to Five Guys anyway? Probably not very many. If I went on my own dime, I would just get a cheeseburger and water, and maybe split an order of fries if someone else comes with me.

i agree I'm not a normal customer of 5g, but if you are going to give me a combo and pay me $20 or more, I will take that all day everyday.

Yes, report is a little longer than RC, but I won't go to RC on my own dime either. While it's more reasonable than 5G, i think they have started overcharging as well. Many times I see a RC next to or near an In N Out and I will choose In N Out all day everyday over RC. I think they (in N Out) offer the better value. Plus RC seems to be overrun with teenagers now because they can move all the tables and chairs together. With the tables in fixed positions at In N Out, they cannot do that.

Before the burger-only requirement, I had tried the hot dog and "grilled cheese." Both were on those tiny HB buns. Not nice.

Ummm, you can still order whatever you want.

Are you referring to the pause after you order the burger to see if they offer the fries, drink and shake?

Yup. Not normal consumer behavior. The previous scenario was valid: order two, accept the third item when offered. I would order my burger and a drink, then accept the fries.

FWIS, nobody walks into a burger place and just orders a burger and nothing else.

By the time I've finished slowly adding my burger toppings, they almost always ask if I want to add a drink and fries and lately a milk shake too. In the rare instance when they don't, ill add it after, "Anything else?, Is that it?" Not an issue.

They have not started requiring only burgers.

When did 5G start requiring burgers only? I thought only Sonic was doing that.

After a taste, I bring the shake home. My garage freezer is full of them.

Not a lot of variety at 5G. It gets boring after a few visits. But there is lots of variety at Panda E.

5G needs something besides beef burgers and fries, like chili, fried zucchini or jalapenos, veggie burgers, gravy, etc. And more flavors like BBQ.

And they need to separate the shake shops from the main shops. I don't know too many who can eat a cheeseburger, fries, fountain soda AND a shake in one visit. When I see a shake requirement, I run...

Very good. I didn't think it needed an explanation. I'm not going to get on a call and be rude, but I'm going to act like I'm distracted to force the employee to either ask the question or give me the total.

I'm not going to skip this shop when paying $20 or higher just because I am only allowed to ask for the burger. They want their stupid requirements, I can follow them and play along.

I typically just order my burger or sandwich, add the toppings, and then fumble in my pocket as though I'm trying to find my credit card. I've never really had an awkward pause.
Most of the ff you are talking about (Sonic, RC etc) do not exist where I live however 5G does. I did two of them long ago but none of their stores are in easy places to get to. One a busy shopping center where I drive a half mile up and down through the crowded parking structure to find a space to park, then a long walk. The other on a popular bar street which is always crowded night and day so no parking. I found a grocery store lot about 5 blocks away. And I am not even sure what a bonus would look like in my town (Los Angeles), probably tops out at a dollar. When I tried it I remember the shamefully small sandwich I got for even a blown up price in those days and having to dig the food out of the fries. Maybe that all has changed.
So if the new rule is all you can order is a burger over and over, then I am glad I dont do them. I loved it when the Counter was shopped. FF and upscale FF burger places are all over the place. Competition is fierce for those $20 burgers. I don't know how any of them stay in business. There must be 20 or 30 different ff burger chains nearby. Panda at least has choices and you can skip the fries. The report and stay are shorter with no silliness necessary in that job.

Sorry, I was confused.
@sandyf

No, you are supposed to end up with a burger, fries, and a drink. Sometimes a shake too (rare, but sometimes that scenario is out there).

Some of the people don't like the ordering requirement that you are only supposed to ask for the burger and wait for them to say something about the fries and drink. It is not the ordering process for most normal people as generally people will just keep ordering and not stand there waiting for the cashier to say something. This requirement bothers some people to the point they won't do the shop. I will do the shop because I act like I got interrupted by looking at my cellphone like a text just came thru. The cashier has always said something. Even if it was just as simple as "anything else?". This is what 5g wants to know. Are they attempting to upsell the additional items.

The report for is "clunky" because you have to scroll thru 30 pages to complete it. It's not a hard shop to do, but the report would be so much better on Sassie software where it's one page and you can jump around much easier.

The biggest thing with most people on the forum with 5G is that they are overpriced. But I don't care. I don't do them at base. Pay starts at $9, then goes up. Today (beginning of the new period) it is at $15 and a make an offer option. Tomorrow those remaining will be at $18. Saturday they will be at $20. When shops are not done by Sunday, the bonuses get real juicy the following Monday-Wednesday. This is normally when people are getting $30 an up. So what if you spend an extra $3-4 to get what you want. You are still netting a good amount for an easier shop. If you don't like the food, then you don't like the food. That's a completely different issue.
If 5 Guys moved to another MSC, the current company fired me in 2010, the reasons Daddy mentioned would not prevent me from applying. I will not dip into my pocket on jobs devoid of a fee, but certainly would, as does he, when there is not a net loss.

That is not true. You can order anything. I don't know where that incorrect information came from. It has been corrected several times already.
