someone who will travel all that way for one night lol
Not me. I’d be afraid of botching it, getting rejected, then being on the hook for all that money. Way too much anxiety for me.

I believe they're referring to the Tik Tok shopper lol
My son and I both looked at that. He apparently read farther than I did. I didn't see that they were willing to reimburse for the travel expenses to go and do a jewelry shop.

Kayla?
Sorry, excuse my ignorance in advance. I live under a rock. But who is Kayla?! I see that name mentioned every so often.

That lyin' scammin' "mystery shopper" with Tik Tok and Facebook accounts, selling info to newbies for $900 or so. She got us all riled up here a few months ago.
I read this one and my immediate thought was holy canoli how much is the MSC getting paid if the shopper is getting up to $1650? I also saw a Las Vegas location listed but it gave the same detail as Montego Bay.
It was tempting. I am planning a trip there for next year. But as someone else said, would hate to lay out all of that money and then have an issue and not get paid back.

Other shops will often get amortized in to make one expensive location work, sop perhaps they take $50 from every other shop because they guarantee the client that all locations will be shopped.
I applied but didn't get it. It didn't sound to me like the airfare and hotel would be a reimbursement, but that they were just going to pay to get you there. From the email:

• We will pay for a round trip flight for one person (up to $1000) AND a One night hotel stay if the shopper wants to stay overnight.(UP to $200)
• Well cover meals up to $150 with receipts
• Shopper pay of $300

I know I once had a conversation with the owner of a different MSC who told me that she has sometimes had to fly people to certain locations to get shops done. I wouldn't think they expect you to outlay that kind of expense first, when you're not evaluating the flight or hotel and that's the only way to get a shopper to the location. Or am I being naïve?

It depends what time the shop opens or if it is at the airport at the departure area and what time the US flight arrives. I flew once to do a jewelery store at the Caribbean that only opened when a cruise ship was in town but because there were no flights from the USA arriving on time the store opens, nor could I make it on time to the airport, I got 2 nights in the island. Another time I flew to another island just to get something from the duty free when coming home. Last minute both and I had to pay for hotel and ticket upfront and get reimbursed afterwards. And yes a few MS fly people to other locations to do a shop. Not as frequent as before covid. Who can forget the Best Buy shops with the last minute crazy bonus during the winter snow.

I got an MSC years ago to pay for me + guest to be on a cruise, just to do a retail shop in Nassau, because it was cheaper than flying in. I added the super-bonused smoothie shop in the same shopping plaza that would always go begging for shoppers.

I don't know what the Jamaica location was, but if it was a cruise port, and you see it again, you can always pitch getting them to spring for the cruise instead of flights if it saves them $$.

I wasn't that spectacular of a cruise (3 nights) and it was an inside cabin, but that was back when I was trying to negate all travel expenses.
Steve, who paid for airfare to cruise port? A 3 night cruise to Nassau couldn't have departed from CA or were you already on the East coast?

I do not like cruises but would love to fly to a new place just for the fun of it! May be there would be other bonused shops in the area too!

I would never have taken this shop unless I was prepared to stay on a bit longer on my own dime. That is the payoff for me, getting a vacation for a week or so with the airfare paid and maybe a few extra dollars from the shop. . The deal is the amt they are paying for the shop itself. The rest if you turn around and come right back is not gravy. Spending all that time on a plane is not fun for me. And a hotel breakfast also not that attractive that I would want to spend two days of my time to have it paid for. I guess if I lived in Florida or somewhere with a short hop flight it might be more attractive and I would think they might choose to send someone much closer (and cheaper flight cost) than from the other side of the US>

I was already on a shop that got me to Miami. I took a hotel in Miami to start, did the 3-night cruise and wrote the first hotel report on the ship, then had another hotel when we docked back in Miami, so the trip was a full week.

So an overseas route. Beautiful! Wish I could do one. Inside cabin or not.
