Boarshead shop upcoming

I have a Boarshead shop coming up this week. People are still dealing with listeria in their products in Florida. I agreed to do the shop, so I will, but the meat is going in the trash as soon as I leave the store. I can't believe they are still recruiting for these shops.

As long as the instructions don't require us to taste the meat and we're ICs and not employees, they probably don't see any liability for them.
Whether it's ethical or not is a different topic. It doesn't look yet like they can be 100% certain that any contaminated meat is not getting through.

Unless Publix deli department did a deep clean/sanitize and disinfection process I wouldn't buy anything from them. The risk of cross contamination on equipment and surfaces exists even if all the affected meats were discarded. I was also horrified at the amount of affected meats still on display weeks after the initial recall was announced. And Publix just mentions "some items may be unavailable due to supply challenges", on their website, nothing about how people should throw away any of these meats they may still have on hand. The funniest is they sent a generic mass email to shoppers today about how to keep your kid's lunch safe. The timing seems tone deaf. And it's simply not worth $10 for me to get deli meat to throw away. Now, if I had a dog who needed it to hide pills in, maybe I would, but even then, after reading about the plant this deli meat came from I am turned off to BH.
Boarshead used to be the premier deli product. They're on their way out now. Better to buy anything else than Boarshead. And in my nearby Publix, they still carry Boarshead liver wurst. We may be doomed....
I was kinda surprised about people giving the meat to pets. It's even riskier for dogs than humans. Oh well maybe more income for vets.

The recall did not include any of the chicken that was purchased, nor did it come from that particular factory. All food has a contamination risk. If I thought for a second, the chicken was an issue, my pets would not have gotten any. But they both line up at that fridge at 9 PM sharp waiting for their chicken.
I saw dozen shops at the morning available. But nothing now. I sign for two on comong Thursday. I am afraid they will remove them from my schedule.

I received an email today that they have been paused until next month.

Very odd. I received an email reminding me to complete the one scheduled for this Thursday (September 5th). The shop is still listed on my Shop Log as well. I also received an email suggesting additional locations for me to shop. Maybe it is location-dependent?

They aren't supposed to cut the liverwurst on the slicing machines. I was told that by several different associates at both Kroger and Publix.

I still have one on my log as well for Friday. Did not receive any emails about a pause.
Maybe it's regional. Mine has been removed

Just checked my visits at the board and they are gone. They were listed yesterday and I got a reminder from scheduler. No expl;anation from the company...

Your message inspired me to check my Shop Log. My assignment for today has vanished. It was there yesterday. No email from the MSC. That is very poor form indeed!

I was under the impression these shops were BECAUSE of the listeria? The instructions say you're supposed to ask "why not boar's head" and I always thought they were checking to make sure people were being actively warned about their shitty product.
FWIW, I got a reminder about my shop AFTER I received the email about them being paused, so it was just automatic. Still don't understand why everyone wasn't advised of the cancellations. That ain't right.

I took it the other way and thought Boar's Head wanted to make sure the deli staff were not bringing up the listeria debacle.

Either way, the idea of asking that question and just imagining the look of consternation on the face of the deli staff makes me say 'no way'. Either option sucks. You either have to tell someone the deli meat could kill them, recommend a product that could kill them, or lie to them about deli meat potentially killing them.

You also have to assume 100% of deli staff in the US are aware of the issue...right?

This shop started a few months before the listeria issue. I think they need to rework the survey now. Why not boars head is now a loaded question!
I emailed scheduler and she told me such visits were paused until October.

My bet that BH will pull them out from MS forever.

'You either have to tell someone the deli meat could kill them, recommend a product that could kill them, or lie to them about deli meat potentially killing them."

There are empty spaces in the BH displays where recalled product was removed.
The "Why not Boar's Head?" question predates the recall. The question was only asked if the deli associate recommended a brand other than Boar's Head.

Edit to add: BTW, in my area, Sprouts Market only sells the Boar's Head brand of cold cuts. That made the shop very easy to perform there.

Actually, I'm not 100% sure that the shops started before the listeria outbreak.
One of the fed govt investigative reports I read, indicated that the govt's own investigation had been ongoing.

Which makes it sound like we were their guinea pigs...so what if a few mystery shoppers get sick...or die...at least we'll know if the machines are cleaned..UGH

I haven't gone back to confirm, but I believe that the Ts &Cs that we sign up to with almost or all of the MSCs states that we cannot bring any legal action resulting from a shop.
The first one that I did was on May 2nd. I believe that they started a month before that. Even May 2nd is long before any listeria announcement. Also, they did not ask you to buy liverwurst. The ham and turkey are made in different facilities and are still available nationally.

Out of curiosity, I just tried to find out the impact of the recall on sales. The only data I could easily find was for NYC where sales are down 30%.

Hmmm..I did one shop as I was going to that store anyway.. Praise be that my DH didn't get sick as he is the only one who eats cold cuts. He buys BH liverwurst every so often, ugh and yuk. I will stick to fine dining, retail and financial shops but even those have me wondering now..
