Maybe the people didn't see the news from last month?

That shop program ended, right?

here's a good one (ugh) *bugs, mold and mildew REPEATEDLY found at the plant* [www.cbsnews.com]

I'll stick with fish for a while, I think.

The interesting thing is that every grocery chain I've ever seen has positioned Boar's Head as the premium deli meat...lol - makes me wonder about regular unbranded meat lol.
There's an old school Italian deli in the city close to here....I expect a run on their meats lol.

Funny you mention that because years ago, when I was doing some recalls, it was always the name brand products, never the store brands.
We have not heard that any shoppers got sick from their $5 purchase. That is the only good news about that. And Liver? either liverwurst or liverbest I cannot remember anyone ever liking it altho it was served by my mother growing up. I do remember tho when I was in Katmandu for about a month I found a restaurant serving liver and ate there frequently. For some reason i was craving it then. Maybe thoughts of home did it.

My husband is german and he loves Liver and Liverwurst. He eats it frequently as I run to the other room to avoid the smell.
I'm not generally a liverwurst fan, but I will gladly eat it on rye bread with spicy mustard, tomatoes and dill pickles. I've never purchased Boar's Head liverwurst, I've always bought the Oscar Meyer in plastic in the self serve deli case.
So true! HAHA!

Shopping Arkansas, Louisiana, & Mississippi.
Right on cue ... new round of shops. If I'm not mistaken, are these purchase shops?
Liverwurst is GOOD! (Head cheese is divine!)

I always asked for non-spicy chicken on these shops because I have to avoid ham for health reasons. I ended up throwing most of the chicken away because I did not like the taste.
Just got the email. $10.
For the prior shops, depending on how long you waited for the fee to rise, it might be doable if the location is close and you're going to get some food to take home - but now?? would you eat it now, knowing what you know? even if it's not on the short list of deadly meats, all you have to do is read about the reported factory conditions.....gross.

It's enough to make a person hurl.

I say raise the fee now and toss the meat when you get back home.

PS/ this is the cue for those posters who like to point out that we're already consuming yucky stuff we don't know about....ok, gotcha mr/ mrs obvious, lol - but this time we KNOW.
Did 5 of BH shops in May. Got the recall notice on my grocery receipt. Refunded $40.

Do not read so much, look about you and think of what you see there.

I guess I'm going to think hopeful thoughts and figure that there's been some remediation since the conditions came to light and brought enormous bad publicity to the company ... I'm taking the leap to credit them with enough sense of self-preservation not to go back into production under the same conditions. And I didn't get sick off the pre-recall meat ... but I totally understand why your mileage may vary.

I realize each of us has his/her/their own comfort and trust level. I'll never trust the company again. Thankfully, I'm not a big consumer of lunch meats.

Reminds me of those restaurants during COVID that made a point of letting everyone know that they wipe down tables between customers.

My thought: you mean you were't doing that already?
As far as Boar's Head goes I'll get turkey or chicken, and sometimes I'll eat roast beast. I don't eat ham, I don't like it. I love pork in almost any form, except ham.

My son brings home enough lunch meat ham from dumpster diving to keep us in stuff to put dog meds in.. This week he brought home 8 - 5 lb. bricks of sliced dog cheese (yellow american cheese). These puppies I adopted in January seem to spend every opportunity at the doc, and every time we bring home piles of pills. Someone is always taking some kind of meds here, and Maks is 16 years old and takes a couple different meds for his arthritis.
I don’t eat the meat either but the dog and cat wait by the fridge for it each night. The dog takes his allergy pill this way and i am starting to run low on my frozen supply. Will gladly do more, hopefully for higher fee.

My question is---some of you previously posted about purchasing different flavors of non spicy chicken. I interpreted the instructions as saying we had to buy what the associate suggested. How did you get associate to suggest anything besides basic 'honey gold' or whatever-it-is-named chicken?
It’s been a while since I did a shop. I used to couple it with Kroger shops. The associate will show me a number of varieties/flavors to choose from. He/she left it as an open-ended question. I believe I detailed this in the narrative, and it got accepted. From my experience, you get to choose the flavor.

Also, I found if I smiled, seemed genuinely sincere, and valued their recommendation, the shop goes a long more smoothly. And they may even offer up their name. But who knows how the “typical” customer acts these days?

Don’t take this too seriously. I’m just glad I don’t have to do these shops.

You can buy anything you want, as long as it's a Boar's Head product. I generally just go with the suggestions but you don't have to.
I wonder how many undocumented factory workers died before the general public was made aware.
Okie states--I’m just glad I don’t have to do these shops.

Bob agrees--Amen and awoman!
Something about these Boar's Head shops did not sit well with me. I listened to my gut and passed on by. Am now glad I did.
I thought there was a news release that Boars Head discontinued the product they felt was the basis of the outbreak.
If live mice was in the meal box on international plane so no wonder why BH having such problems....

Shopping Eastern Pennsylvania since 2009
Rosie, they shut down the VA plant where the tainted products originated. I don't know if they discontinued production of those products, but stopped producing them at the VA plant. I'm not going to looking for BH liverwurst, Oscar Mayer works just fine for me.

But, if my son is going to go do BH shops, I'm perfectly happy to eat sliced roasted chicken along with my dogs.
