Cheba Hut

Has anyone shopped Cheba Hut? Its a new shop in my area, with a pot theme inside. The food is reimbursed $12, but with the sandwich, munchie and drink being required, it will prob be a bit over this amount. If the food is fantastic, it would be worth a try. Anyone eat there?

Don't do it. If people start picking up shops with no pay and cost is more than the reimbursement price, that would be the baseline and they will never pay for us to shop. If no one picks it up, they'll learn that they have to pay.

I picked one up without paying enough attention to the fee/requirements and then unassigned. I’m fine doing a shop for reimbursement but not for barely 50% of the cost of a sandwich, soda and munchie. I guess you could do the mini sandwich but at that point you’re not even getting a full meal.

I did it once with a bonus and it still wasn't worth it because I had to pay for street parking. I did another one for takeout this past week and forgot it was a bad deal. I did the mini sandwich (literally 3 bites worth) and it was still over reimbursement.

This is one of the few shops I do here in Phoenix for the reimbursed meal. The $12 food shop is a heavy subsidy but does not cover all shop requirements. But the $16 bar shops? Go when the drink is $1 off at their 4 to 6 PM happy hour and you will make a little money over the shop's required purchase. I LOVE Cheba Hut bar shops due to the shall we say non-corporate clientele and if you do the bar shop, get the Dirty Hippie - one of the cocktails acceptable for this shop - with peach liquor and gin. It's so so so good!

My questions is what exactly is a Cheba Hut? What do they sell? I used to buy a grain free bread mix called Chebe, but that doesn't seem to be what you guys are talking about.

Che(e)ba is another nickname for pot. Like chronic, doobie, ganja or good ole maryjane. So I'm guessing it's popular with stoners.

I noticed at the Cheba Hut in Eugene, the $2.50 munchies like cookies, etc are not available to order. So, the cheapest munchie I can get is $5, bringing me to $14 for $12 reimbursement. I have sent an email to the scheduler to see if I am understanding this all correctly, or if I need to just cancel. A $6.50 4" sub is tiny, and the next size up is $11.00.

If you want a discounted meal, consider using an app or coupon, instead of literally working for it and still having to pay out of pocket.

I love the food here and there is a location close to me but I only pick up the location if there is an end of the month bonus. It is much more work than $12 with like 5 or 6 pictures and a bunch of narrative on various questions. Somehow the shops get filled most of the time.

I have been there on my own dime more often then shopping since I'd rather just eat there than do all that work for $12 and the editors have rejected me for nit picky stuff as well.

I did Cheba Hut when I was in Austin for a vacation. I recall a bonus. We went during Happy Hour to keep costs down. The report was easy and we had a great time. So great, I'd go back even if it were not a shop. It is a rare business I say that about.

I'm thankful that the shop description warns you about the 'environment'. No way would I want to be anywhere near this restaurant.

Each to their own, certainly. All I will say is that I don't believe anyone I interacted with at Cheba was under the influence (other than patrons drinking alcohol at the bar) and "cheba" was not being sold (or even talked about) during my shops there. Initially I was put off by the environment description but I gave it a chance and I'm glad I did.
