Someone said they received recall notices in their area.

The long list of meats that were recalled were mostly liverwurst, ham and some turkey. No chicken. "I am looking for a chicken that is not too spicy"
RQA listed some visits to supermarkets in my general area. No purchase, just verification that removal procedures had been followed by the store.

I was thrilled to get the Boar's Head ham because I always thought it was a premium deli meat. We ate a lot of ham for a few weeks, sandwiches, with eggs, in omelets, in salads, Chicken Cordon Bleu..I still have some in the freezer. Thankfully, we haven't gotten sick and personally, I didn't think it was much better than Shop Rite's own brand, especially b/c it was over $12 per pound. Of all the brands that this could have happened to, I think it's par for the course that it was the one brand specifically being shopped and slicers, scales etc being checked on..so ironic

I think I saw where over 35 people have been sick and a few have died from this....I have a bad feeling about all of this, like there's more to this than the irony.

I returned all the ham that I had bought. I did have 3 of the recalled meat and decided to return the rest. When i did the shops that required the pictures and count of the products ( no purchase) most of the stores here had everything in the case except the liverwurst. There was no signage of any kind. Tody when I returned the last of the ham, I walked to the deli and saw may holes where the ham had been. Still no signge.
I am sure the lawyers will be looking into what did they know and when did they know it. Those are always the key questions.

It is kind of ironic that this shop preceded this incident but the dirty slicers aren't where the bacteria started. Dirty slicers can lead to contamination of other meats though. Very tricky to navigate that whole recall. I did speak to one store manager a bit when I was doing one of the recall jobs and she told me they threw away any meat that was open and could have been cross contaminated. She told me that that was what they were mandated to do by that chain of stores. They closed for a day and cleaned everything. Good to know that someone did the right thing.
To anyone's knowledge here, has there ever been a Boar's Head shop before the program that started in 2024?
Yes, I remember doing some two or three years ago. As I recall, they were very similar to the purchase ones this year.
