Business is booming at Texas Roadhouse

I love Roadhouse, but the only way an average check there is $22 is if you order chicken crispers off the early dine menu and drink water. That statistic came from a competitor's report (Cheesecake Factory), so I'd say somebody fed them misleading intel. Didn't we have a thread not too long ago about repeated price increases at Roadhouse?

In other news, I saw that Hooters is closing a bunch of "underperforming" locations, including the one here in Podunk. I couldn't figure out why they opened one here to begin with - cows don't care about ta-tas.

That's why I prefer the bar shops.

Hooters has terrible food.

Oh, and, cows have ta-tas of their own. No envy. smiling smiley
An early-dine I did in April at one location was $12.99 and one I did in earlier this month in June was $11.99 at a different location. How would tax/tip be $9-10? On the latter trip I was easily under reimbursement with two early dine meals and two margaritas.

Tax would likely be approximately $1 (of course depending on location) and $3 would be a 23% tip on $13.

It also does not matter which dish you get on the early dine-in menu at every location I have seen (which is quite a few). They are all the same price on that menu.

Even a $16 entree with water would be $22 with tax/tip.

However, more than $50 would definitely be nice for two people when not on the early-dine in menu as that is obviously not always an option. Hopefully they will raise reimbursement at some point.
Early dine here is $14.99. I still find $22 hard to believe, but I’m just a consumer, what do I know…

$14.99 is regular price at most I go to! That is expensive.

The 3 TRH I go to are so busy they could raise prices and not hurt their business. I was at one recently where there was a huge crowd still waiting outside at 8:30 PM.
I thought the chicken critters were amazing when they were freshly battered. They changed to a frozen product, and I now think they are terrible. For me, the country fried chicken is better because it is still made fresh.

No, but us pigs do. grinning smiley LOL

Edit: I read an article tonight that Texas Roadhouse is rolling out their dinner rolls in the frozen food section of Walmart in the coming weeks. They are already in a handful of stores. These will be a good replacement for Red Lobsters biscuits if they should pull those.

Oink oink, my good man. -lol-

While visiting metro, I discovered that all Roadhouse rolls are not the same. The rolls at my Roadhouse are the "real" rolls, while the ones at his Roadhouse pale in comparison. (We actually debated this. -lol-) I don't know how to explain it—they aren't the same. The inside of his rolls was like a piece of white sandwich bread with the same texture and taste.

I'd be all over the frozen rolls if I could get them to turn out like the ones in the restaurant. I wonder if it'll include the honey butter - that's the best part.

Yes, it includes honey cinnamon glaze. I have not paid much attention as to whether rolls vary from TR to TR. I guess they make their stuff in-house, so there could be some variation?

I'm weird about bread. Roadhouse and Yellow Box (sorry - I mean Chicken Express) to me have the best restaurant bread.

Re: Red Lobster biscuits, why would they pull something that would seem to be a profit center? Everyone seems to love them, even from the mix.

If TRH is starting to sell frozen rolls, I just hope they don't start using those in the restaurants instead of making them fresh.

H00ters just re-opened their Corpus location after being closed for over a year after Covid. Maybe I'm not the average dude but I never quite got the whole T&A thing while you're eating. There is a time and place for that. I never thought it was during dinner time though or when you're watching sports. As for the business model, Its limited in a lot of ways. The reason there are boneless wings is because they are limited by the number of chickens they can slaughter 2 per bird in most cases (LOL). So they decided to cut the breast into a bunch of small peices and call them wings. I don't know how that is going over myself. They stopped opening up a B-Dubs on every corner a while back so I think it's not going over too well. As for the other things that are not on the menu...if your business is selling scenery, your potential depends on how far you're willing to go in that area. Some places are willing to go much further it seems.

I struggle to make the $45 full reimbursement when I dine alone at the bar at TRH. Then again, I can't put away the steak like I once did. I top out at about 14 ounces now. Its that wonderful bread they serve--it jammies you full. I wonder how they'd do if they cut back on the # of rolls they give you. Seems to me they would only want you to eat stuff you're paying for. Had a great meal there on the 23rd.

Well, for starters, they are in such a bind that they have been auctioning off restaurant equipment. It's no telling what they will like when they come out of Chapter 11. Who will own the brand? I know some of their store products are sold through a licensing deal. I don't know specifically about the biscuits. Hopefully they won't go away, but if they do, TR is right there to fill the void.
The filet salad is one of the best values on their menu if you're looking for a steak option.

I agree! Order a takeout carton and separate into halves before you add dressing and take half home. The salad is huge!
To me, Texas Roudhouse's portions are pretty generous, at least. I only do them occasionally (I'm not a huge fan of shops that are reimbursement only), but I typically get about 2.5 meals out of them. I order an app, an entree with one of the sides being a salad, and then a coke (I never buy soda for home, so, it's a treat). I eat the salad and a roll or two there and sample everything else, and then come home with enough food for close to two meals, depending on which app, entree, and second side I order.
just did early dine here (before 5pm- SO EARLY!) and the meals were 14.99 each. Throw in even a soda that is $4 and it really adds up. This time I even got a $10 bonus and still went over with 2 people.
I once saw an entire Little League team, and parents going into hooters. Am I the only one that thinks this is highly inappropriate?

Nope.

Inappropriate? Yes. But - I'm sure there were no 10 year boys screaming, "No, daddy, don't take me into that place with the young, beautiful women with the big boo****!"

Edit to add: There are a lot of things that are inappropriate that parents let their children do. This one is probably on the lower degree of things.

Remind me, the only picture these require is the receipt, right? It feels so awkward not photographing each food item when presented lol

Correct. However, I photograph each item anyway as I use the camera's timestamp for timing.
Any idea when the next round is dropped? I see the "eat at bar" shops in my state. I need the "dine in" ones though. Is there a pattern to when they get posted?
HB, they used to be monthly.. the end of the month is a bad time to try to find what you're looking for. Back when they used to add bonuses and Robin was still the scheduler, I usually went to TXRH the last week of the month with a $10 or $20 bonus. And there didn't used to be any overlap, once the month changes, there are no more bonused shops at all.

But, Robin isn't the scheduler for them here, and I don't do jobs for the schedulers that are responsible for them. So it's been a few years since I've been to TXRH.
@Morledzep....I'm not looking for "end of the month" shops...I'm trying to get a jump on NEXT month. Since they are SELF-assign, i want to get one before they are gone. I am not sure when they are posted. Do they wait until 8/1 to post for August or are they posted in the last few days of the month prior? I can see the "eat at bar" ones for August are already there. So the dine-in ones must be close to being released.
Sorry HB, it's just been too many years I don't know those things about those shops anymore.
I wish they'd post the bar and dining room shops simultaneously. Bar shops have been scooped up for August, but I'm holding out for the dining room. I've noticed that the shops here in Podunk are no longer self-assign; they've gone back to having to apply.

I'm seeing something for the second month in a row, that I've never seen with the TR shops...the ones in this
area are just sitting there not taken and it's the 11th of the month - so now they've just been bonused.
Interesting.
