Your Start in Mystery Shopping?

I dipped my toes into mystery shopping about 15 years ago. I only did a few restaurant shops here and there. Loved the Cheesecake shops back then. I quit my job during the pandemic to take care of my kids. Once they were in school, I started pursuing mystery shopping more and signed up with basically all the MSCs thanks to the list provided in this forum. I still do mostly grocery and restaurant shops to curb our food expenses. This forum has also gotten me to branch out and try shops I normally wouldn't do (chip recalls!).

I started in 2014. A friend mentioned that she mystery shopped and thought it would be something I would be interested in. My first shop was for Feedback Plus at Dulles Airport for $40! I thought “wow I can make $40 for 20 minutes worth of work”! As I got into it more I realized what a pipe dream that mostly was. Still love shopping but don’t love the fact that we are paid about the same as we were in 2014….

I was looking for extra income to add to my full time engineering job. I saw add on the web about MS. But the way they advertised it looks like a scam: "easy job" or similar. I had a chat on FB with friend of mine who was jewelry store manager. She mentioned once about mystery shopper visit. I started to look into such little bit deeper. At that time (end of 2009) I lost my full time job. First two companies I signed were BestMark and Market Force. I am still MS with them as well with dozens others. Over the past 15 years I did many shops, including, banks, restaurants, fast food, convenience stores, department and discounted stores, home improvement stores, etc.
