Do you do shops when it's 10 degrees outside?

I have a Sonic scheduled for tomorrow. It's 6 blocks from my house and i drove by today around noon. It only had 2 cars in tbe stalls. I will park right outside the door so I hope it wont be too bad for tbe carhop.

It’s kind of a moot point here in south-ish Texas. When it gets cold, everything shuts down. I reworked my schedule to be home the next three days. I have a red button drive-in for tomorrow that I couldn’t reschedule, but I refuse to be “that person” and expect somebody to bring food out to my car when there is ice on the ground. I’ll let it go and hope to snatch it back (with a bonus) for later next week.[/quote]

One of my very WORST shops was one of the coldest days of the year when I lived in Denver. Maybe 10 years ago at the big box Swedish store. I had already rescheduled it from the day before because of the roads. And I think it was actually Easter Sunday.

I was fairly new. Had to go to all of the departments and talk to everyone. You had to make a purchase around $100 then turn around and immediately return it.

I got almost to the return part and the fire alarm goes off. Everyone is ushered outside and it was COLD. Once that was over the alarm went off again. I’m no punk but I actually cried at that point. It took me maybe six hours in the store and a few hours to report.

And I’m sure I waited four months for payment. On top of this the MS company was Cirrus. ???? Many edits required, yeah I was new. Lots of lessons learned that day. Don’t think I did any more for that company ever.
well, it turns out that all of Northern AL closed down. Even some Walmarts didn't open because the roads were icy. The county I live in and ALDOT said the roads are impassable and closed, do NOT go out unless you are a first responder. And about every 10 minutes or so someone on the local Faciebutts page makes a post asking about the conditions of the roads, that are completely iced over and will not be open until they thaw, possibly sometime tomorrow afternoon.
In NYC, we are out on the streets, exposed to the elements, as we walk from the subway or bus stop to our shopping destination, and again, as we wait in the cold air on icy sidewalks for the train or bus to the next destination. So no, when the temp is in the teens fahrenheit, I generally avoid shopping.

When I first started shopping fifteen-plus years ago, the purpose for shopping was different so companies had a rule: Avoid shopping on bad weather days. We were given a range of days to complete shops.

The reason for avoiding bad weather shops was that the store or restaurant employees were likely to be in minor fender bender accidents or stuck in snow canyons; if they then show up late, they are likely to be error prone and anxious during the time you might see them. Also, the regular employees might not have been able to leave home, and the substitutes might have been called to work at the last minute, leaving them error prone as well. It may only be the manager who can make it to a boutique to open it, and that person may have to deal with 10 customers , nine of which entered the shop just to keep warm. Whatever the case, shopping in these conditions was likely to result in a negative shop result.
I only shop when temps fall within a range of 30F to 90F, not above or below - or when the roads are tricky or dangerous.
Its currently 7 degrees where I am and the high is 20 degrees. I have a car wash shop today. As someone else stated, if the business is open, why not?

I had similar weather last weekend and both my shops ended up being duds. Both the Goodwill donation center and car wash across the street were closed due to cold weather.
Yep, all season shopper here. I try to avoid areas that get hit with tons of snow, because the road conditions slow me down, but the temp itself is not a deterrent for me.
I have done that and other work in the coldest, slickest, darkest, and most wind-blown conditions; this year I intend to be a fair weather gig worker.

I was just remembering when I was in FL and doing some gas station shops....I started at sunrise and finished before 10AM.....then would do a shop at a nice restaurant, air conditioned. Not bad, but after 10AM I scurried - soooo humid in FL.
