I am astounded at the amount you all have secured! smiling smiley That is fabulous. I think I don't ask enough for shops.
She received the proceeds of the loan ($1000 from the loan company to Catmom). Then she had to send $1000 (plus interest, etc., but let's focus on just the principle) to the loan company) to the loan company. So, $1000 was paid by Catmon to the loan company. It was a wash.

She paid $275 in interest and fees to the loan company ($275 is my made-up number). MSC reimbursed the $275. Catmom sent $275 to the loan company. The MSC sent $275 to Catmom. It was a wash.

The MSC sent a $500 fee to Catmom. Catmom kept the money. Catmom made $500.

What is the source of the extra $1000 that Catmom believes she earned? It is not the proceeds of the loan, because she had to repay the loan.

@myst4au

Maybe her loan was forgiven. Seems like that is the popular thing now. Student Loans forgiven, PPP forgiven...now this.

I have done personal lending shops where I took out a personal loan at a finance company for $1000. The shop fee was $500 and the mystery shopping company reimbursed for the loan and fees and I received the loan proceeds, so in total, I made $1500. I had to keep the loan open for three months.
I think it was $250 for one of the Rolex shops. My best single day, though, was just under $1000. A long route consisting of shops for 2 different clients. There were 8 shops per client, so 16 in total. It was just one of those days where the stars aligned and all of these shops were located pretty closely along the route. And it was a joy to work with Maritz, who compensated me well for my efforts. I believe we struck an agreement of $62 per shop for all 16. They were all very easy, too...maybe 10 to 15 minutes per shop.
A single shop, no reimbursement, $800 back in the good old days.

Jumping jelly fish I'm a video shopper!

$1200 fee for a four night resort shop (integrity focused) which I have done several times and am doing again this month. Plus of course expenses and reimbursement. Highest reimbursement ever is the unicorn shop - the one that we have discussed before, the six nights in the Maldives - which was $18,000 reimbursement.. the fee was nothing though (maybe $75 at most?)
@myst4au - I believe she got to keep the loan, free and clear, plus the $500.00, fee for the shop. The MSC paid the outstanding loan, including fees and interest, so she looked like she paid it off early. But she never actually gave back the proceeds.

I just wonder what kind of payment the MSC received since they paid over $2,500 (I do not know what the interest or other fees were), to have this shop done.
Ok, so I've been doing this for 5 years and I don't have video equipment or a drone. I've made $150 on
Virginia College mystery shop (I don't know if they still have these because they closed our VC due to lose of accreditation.) I've done 100 Sonics and $140 KIA's. But my favorite route was a few years ago by Augusta, GA/Aiken SC. It was December and no one had done the nighttime Exxons in that area. We scheduled a route with an overnight stay. Left at 2 PM drove to Augusta had all our Exxons done by 12:30 AM. Took a couple of small on-sites (property only), and a Shell debrand for the next morning after checkout. We made over $600 in less than 24 hours. Those were the good ol' days when Maritz was still around. I actually wish I knew how to catch those gigs where they fly you somewhere and put you up in a hotel just to do a shop. I also wish I had a drone and video equipment for more work, and more high-paying work. Maybe someday...
Almost got $278 reimbursement and a $20 fee for a garage door repair from a Sears sub contractor. My door mechanism needed repair too ! Repair guy flakes during the scheduled visit time after I sit home all Saturday morning in wait for nothing. .( livid). Call days later and of course he could only come out the day of my dear friend's family funeral. Cancelled and could not reschedule for a later date ! Sears dumped this guy.
I did high end restaurant shop for $150

Can't remember pre covid (it's all a blur) but just got $450 to open a high fee travel credit card and then request a credit line increase. Made it even better was the $395 annual fee was reimbursed and I received $800 worth of statement credits after meeting the spending requirement on the card.
