Question 21 on the evaluation for McDonalds Shop

I can’t seem to understand what exactly this question is asking if me. I was hoping I was just having a duh moment, so I took a break and revisited the question again later on but it still does not make sense to me? I’m new to this mystery shopping so maybe I’m just getting the wording misconstrued. Here’s the question for anybody that can hopefully shed some light please!!!
“ Which beverage(s) appeared on the kiosk screens alongside the pricing of those beverage(s)?

Beverage Pricing

18 or 21 (check all that apply) - Carbonated Soft Drinks

The report and guidelines could definitely be worded better, but if you look up at the question marked K9, I think it clarifies question 21. They want every photo of a beverage that you saw while using the kiosk.

So for question 21, you check off each drink photo you saw while using the kiosk... which is every drink they sell, since you had to take photos of every drink available in an earlier step. If there is a drink they sell that isn't listed in their checklist, you can type it in under "other" on the beverages checklist.

You count all of the kiosk photos up (including any typed in the "other" section), along with any other beverage photos they asked you to document, and that's what goes in the final total. That's how I interpret it, and have had no issues. My totals are generally around 90 POP, with 20 of those being Coke products.

What company do you use for these shops?

They're in PrestoShopper.
Now that these are done...

I found that, at least for me, McCafe was a different section than "Beverages". The guidelines and questionnaire specified "Beverages", "Sweets & Treats", "Family Size", etc. But it never called out for a McCafe menu, despite having lots of coffee options. Leaving us to conclude if "Beverages" meant the concept or the name of the section.

I asked early on and didn't get an answer. So I just used my judgment based on how the question was asked. (For example, if it mentioned "all screens" vs "all screens you looked at for the questions above." ) I think I included it on the mobile order shops but not on kiosk or delivery. And I got paid either way, which is why I didn't press further for an answer.

But it's part of why I think this wasn't a very well-run program. Instead of demanding a screenshot for every single price they could have been more clear and trusted us to enter a number. That would have been a bigger win for all parties.

These are $35 each in my area, hundreds of pins available, and I have a “snow day” off from teaching today. Instead of the forecast 9-12” we got 2-3”, so driving around town knocking off a half-dozen shops is completely possible. Two questions:

1. How long do these take you, on average?

2. Can I pick up multiple pins and put together a route of 5-6 locations (there’s hundreds on the map today) or will they all disappear after I self-assign one?
Thanks in advance.

Gosh, I admire your courage to try and knock out 5 or 6 of these in one day. I also see them all sitting there at $35 and am tempted to try just one, but the feedback on here has kept me from doing so. Reading comments from people who have said that it's the worst shop they've done in 15 years has kept me from even attempting one.

Six McD’s shops at $35 each would buy my classroom that microscope and slide prep kit that I’ve had on top my wishlist six months.

I’m also finishing up writing my 8th Ellis/EPMS apartment shop report this month, so I must have a crazy high tolerance for pain, lol
Well if you do some, good luck! And please report back to let us know how painful they are!

Depends on the type and your skill at screenshots. It speeds up after you know the items you need and get the hang of their form. There are so many checkboxes, most of which you skip, that I hated doing it on the app but didn't mind quite as much at home on a computer.

Do a Mobile order first, and you can do most of the work from home. Do the location check in from wherever you are and it should give a warning but let you proceed enough to see the questions. (Or a delivery and you can do it all from home.) If you have a second screen with the job up you can go through the app and take the screenshots you want, then transfer over and do the upload.

The reason you want to do it this way is because you're likely to miss a drink if you just go off the guidelines list. You don't need every drink (thankfully) but it does want both a normal latte and a caramel latte. (IIRC.) If you're flipping back and forth between Presto and the app it's pretty annoying. On two screens it's not so bad. Once you know and can predict the shots you'll need, I find it's about 5 minutes to take the screenshots and 10 to enter them. Then pick up the food at drive through at your convenience, remembering to update the location check in and answer the question about soda quality.

Kiosk is worse if you have to go back and forth, especially if like me you don't care to stand in front of the screen for 20 minutes looking like a weirdo. Some have said they can do the whole report in 20-25 minutes. What I did, because I already knew what drinks would be wanted, was put my phone in video mode and clicked through in about 3 minutes. Then I sat down with my meal and took screenshots from the video, getting room shots when I got up for a drink refill. Be warned though that last I checked there's a minimum resolution on shots of 1299. If your video is smaller than that you may need to do what I did, which is use a website to upscale the shots and then upload that.

Drive Through I doubt is paying $35. If it does, absolutely go do it. Few shots required.

The same location and same method will almost certainly disappear. (They list small/medium/large lunch/dinner as 6 jobs but it's really only one.) I haven't had other stores in the same area disappear instantly, though they have stopped listing near me so it's plausible they'll say "that's enough."
There are only kiosk shops around me. The drive thru shops were easy...I did a bunch of those. I only did one mobile order shop. Not fun but I would definitely do another if they were at $35.
@Amarsir - wow, thank you very much. Great information. I’m planning to video the kiosk menu boards and grab screenshots, too. I do my gas station audits that way. Totally worth it to get a nice smartphone that shoots high quality video, isn’t it?

Thanks again!

Have fun! I did one kiosk shop, it was declined. I spent 45 minutes & when I hit submit I told myself if they even wanted one tiny revision I wasn't doing it. I would happily be out the $10 for the food to never see that survey form again.
I consider myself fairly tech friendly & I tend to work quickly. I wouldn't do the kiosk shop for $100
What a nightmare. Attempted to do my first kiosk shop today. But I didn't know they only give you 20 minutes to do it! It was impossible. There was only one kiosk at this location and I had to let paying customers have access. I suppose next time I could do all the pics before I enter my presence but this was one of the more unpleasant failures I've had. Would have donated my $35 to @ColoKate's microscope project. Sorry, Kate!

Is there really a 20 time limit to complete these kiosk shops? Why are some people saying they worked on it for hours? I did the drive thru and mobile shops and there were no time limits with either of those. I was free to continue working on them from home on my laptop. I see these continue to creep up...now $40.
It returns to Presto after 20 minutes and you can pick it up again (provided no one else grabs it first). But the thought of having to re-enter everything I'd already done was too depressing so I didn't.

I did a kiosk one and worked on it for way more than 20 minutes. It submitted just fine.
They returned wanting extra photos & I said no way. I'll happily just take the loss...

Hm....now I suspect that I was approaching the 23:59 deadline after accepting the shop and that was the issue. But still not interested.
