A good day at the grocery store

Since I feel that you all would appreciate this...I had a grocery shop bonused to $59 plus $9 reimbursement. I also had a digital coupon for $10 off $100. After I paid with my grocery master card, I got a text asking if I wanted to redeem points I had earned which totaled about $17. I basically got all of those groceries paid for between mystery shopping and perks. Never mind that I earned 100 fuel points which will get me 65 cents off per gallon the next time I fill-up and use my grocery MasterCard.

Damn, you get good bonuses.

Here the only grocery stores near me I do starts at $10 pay and $10 reimbursement. I took one bonused to $15, I needed stuff for Christmas dinner. The next day they threw in another $10 I missed out on.

So basically got $10 off a $185 grocery bill. I figure the $15 shop pay was for the forty minutes in the store interacting with someone in each department and writing the report.

On the plus side I did get $1.84 in points towards gas or groceries. I'd gladly take $0.65 off gas like you get!
I am getting back into mystery shopping after a several year break. I have done grocery shops in the past and liked working them. One company only had me shop 3 departments and be in the store 15 minutes while the other company had me shop every department in the store for over 30 minutes.

Can you tell me which company or stores makes you work all departments? I really want to avoid these shops. They are too time consuming for the pay.
Alta360 does all the departments near me. And ask that you put something under the cart to see if the cashier notices.

They also recently added a picture of the restroom and the purchase of a bulk organic item without increasing the reimbursement from $10. They did eliminate the question asking what each employee said in their greeting, or I might be confusing that with another shop.

I do them if I'm going to be in the store anyway, but not at the $10 starting pay. Right now there is one near me at $30 but I don't need groceries. I won't go out of my way to do them.
Do you realize that we are each independent contractors, so we are competing with you for the same shops? Please tell me why I would want to help you take shops away from me.

Very happy for you, great shop! As a newbie - I'm still figuring out who does grocery for Giant or Stop and Shop or Acme. Googling away. Might need to get creative on this one.

There are actually two Giant chains. One is Giant Carlisle which is based in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. The other is Giant Landover which is based in Landover, Maryland. They operate totally independently and do not even share rewards programs for things like gas. I know that Giant Carlisle is shopped, but I no longer live near enough to do them. I used to do shops for Giant Carlisle about 8 years ago, but they were actually in-store interaction shops, not the type that is done now (based on discussions on this forum). Adding to the confusion is that both Giants, as well as Stop and Shop, have ended up having the same corporate parent (Ahold Delhaize from the Netherlands). Ahold Delhaize also now owns Martins, Food Lion, and Hannaford. All of the chains operate independently although some of them share a logo and most apparently share some store brands.

Acme Markets is now owned by Albertsons and I have personally never seen a shop at Acme nor seen one discussed on this forum.

I wish Shop Rite would start their shopping program again. Maybe they have and I don't know. Anyone see any lately?

I haven't seen a ShopRite shop since before COVID. If they come back, it will be interesting to see what they want shoppers to do. I go to ShopRites which have three different owners, and they have diverged a lot since COVID. One sub-chain only allows orders on a kiosk. Some of the pharmacies have closed. Another sub-chain had moved to at least 75% self-service checkouts (and 90% of the open registers are self-service). There are still rotating shortages which change from week to week.
