Home Depot SCO

Anyone done the new HD SCO shop? It’s different then the sponge in the bucket/lid type shop. I only see 5 HD shops in my area and we have 30 + stores. Im curious if they are doing a tiered approach with some locations now and other locations at a different time.

I wouldn't touch it with a 10-ft pole. I do not know why, but every single time I try self-check out, something goes wrong and it ends up taking 20 minutes of some hapless manager's time to straighten out.

I am so tech averse, perhaps it's a self-fulfilling prophecy?

The HDs near me often have only self-checkout. Same for Lowe's (more so at Lowe's).

None in my area, I could use a few 5 gallon buckets with lids.

I know of one Dollar Tree Here that is all Self Check Outs.

We have one Neighbor WM that is all self check outs... But according to one employee, they are bring the cash registers back..

I was in HD the other day with my dad and they had both SCO and cashiers but there was a sign (on the SCO)that said cards only and no cash back..

I wonder how many people will go through them that do not see the sign but try to pay cash.

I remember several years ago, theses places did not have SCO.. It was ALL humans
Yes, times have changed. How do we get our employee discount since we, the customers, are employees now?

The same way that your grandparents got an employee discount at A&P when A&P introduced shopping carts and required that you get the items off the shelf instead of the clerk. Piggly Wiggly actually began it all with self-service in 1916, so maybe ask your great-grandparent how they got the employee discount from Piggly Wiggly!

I remember Piggly Wiggly... In fact several years ago, we had a few PW here where I live but another company bought them out.. However, several months ago I read that are coming back and we are getting two of them..

My brother used to work for PW several years ago... Every summer we would go visit my Grand Ma who lived three hours away from us..

They had a PW and every time we would go shopping before we went in the store, she would ask us "I wonder if I can get your discount, since you work for PW back home." Sadly both my Grand Ma has passed away sad smiley
Since my parents, grandparents and definitely great grandparents are no longer alive and you seem to have some insight. How did they get their Employee discount at A&P when shopping cart were introduced? I'm curious.

I thought that it would be clear that no regular customer got an employee discount when shopping carts were introduced, and we aren't going to get an employee discount when using self-service. Using self-service does not make us an employee.

Did one today. Very easy and straightforward. Took me 3 minutes in store and 2 to enter it in.

Pro-tip, use the Home Depot app to find the aisle and bin number of the items requested since it is no longer the bucket and lid.
Well, even pre-pandemic, we have been cleaning the shopping carts, with the wipes, for the stores without getting paid.
