FIVE GUYS IS BACK!!

I found a lunch shop available for this week, which seemed odd since this week and last week's shops were all "shoppers' choice" with an all-day time range. So, it must have been a leftover shop, yet it was posted for $18. I submitted a MAO for $30 since it's at least 45 minutes from my house and I think I got that for the location the last time I did it a while ago My offer was rejected, not even a counter-offer.

I don't even bother with their MAOs. I ate at the local Five Guys today; a little cheeseburger, little fries, and a drink cost me $18.07. I like their food, so I'm okay with subtracting .82¢ from my shop fee because that beats the $18.07 I would be out of pocket otherwise. (And believe me, I *would* be eating there.) Besides, I don't have time for their approval or rejection. In the time it takes them to even review it, somebody else will have taken the shop because they'll have sent out a stupid Samantha email to everybody and their granny, and then it's all a moot point anyway.

If your path dictates you walk through hell, do it as though you own the place. -unknown

Actually, I find they reject my MAOs pretty quickly. smiling smiley

I haven't received one in months.

I asked the same thing a few months back. I've actually seen a couple since then, but never the self-assign ones. I guess it cost too much?
there are people who would eat there even if they paid out of pocket and not a shop?
It's tasty when I am hungry, but....
I just got a call from a foreign scheduler. Wanted me to do a FG today, offered me $6. When I pushed back, she offered me $15. I logged in and it's currently listed at $35. Told her that and she said that she could not offer that. I hung up, since I have no interest in doing it for any price (it's over a half hour away). Do they think we are stupid?

Probably.

That said 35 bucks for an hour drive seems good to me.

Wow, John. I'd never heard of that and looked it up. Thank you for the education. That's sad, though.

Yes. And judging by the reduction in bonuses with this client in my area, many of us are.

Yep, I've pretty much stopped doing one location about 40 miles away because bottom feeders keep snapping it up as soon as it gets to $15 grrrrr.
I did a shop for the first time in months. It was $18 for a small burger, fries, and a drink. How do people spend this much on fast food?!?
Saw a location at $18 with a MAO. They used to get to about $25 before they had the MAO.

Also, I've been watching a delivery shop that went from $5 to $10 about 3-4 weeks ago and they just keep extending the dates. I want to grab it when it gets to $15 which is what I've done it for before.

I've seen $12 with the MAO.
It looks like the company might be raising reimbursement again soon. It looks like it's for all time frames of shops too.

What's weird is only one city shows reimbursement of $18.70 for the end of January 2024 date range but other cities still show $17.25 for the same date range and future dates. The city, Ontario, is in the Inland Empire of So Cal. Orange County where I am, which is a more expensive area, still has the $17.25 reimbursement. Fingers crossed it will be across the board.

Here in the mid-Atlantic, still $17.25 across the board through Feb. 11.
I gave in and took $25 for a location that I normally had gotten $30. I got a call from Jasmine on Friday night asking her to do my local FG for $18. I asked for my usual $25 and she said that she could only give me $22, but after we spoke, she put in for $25 and it got approved, so she called me back to tell me. Then I asked if she could put in for the other location for $30 and she said that she would try. But I never got it, so I guess they rejected it.

This morning I got a call from a foreign scheduler to do another local FG which I didn't want to do this week. So I asked her about the other one (which had gone up to $20) and asked for $25. She was able to assign it to me instantly. So, the good news is I got it, but I wonder if I could have gotten the $30 today? In any event, I had to go to Costco near this location, so I was going to be in the area, anyway. Of course now it will be difficult to get $30 for this location next time, but it's been at least a couple of months since I've been there since they've been getting taken before they are willing to go that high.

Same for me in NY/CT.

Pro tip: ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS check the board as soon as you see their number calling you on the phone. I realize many people use their phone to access the site and it can be difficult/time consuming to multi-task by bringing up the mystery shop app/login a browser site while you answer their call and talk to them (I am usually at my laptop so I can do it quickly on my computer). The scheduler is not obligated to give you the same amount that is on-line! There have been many times they make an initial offer to you for an amount that is less than what the website shows. This can be either on a Thursday/Friday (when the bonuses aren't as large) or even on the weekend or Monday.

The shop was definitely $20 on the website when she called. I could obviously have done MAO, but they have not been approving $30 recently, at least not on Saturday.

Good advice for others, however.
Crap -- I just checked my receipt from today when submitting the shop and discovered that somehow when I was tapping my card to pay it selected a $2.44 tip! I never add one. I doubt they will cover it (I would have been $1 under reimbursement max otherwise) so I will probably have to eat it. Memo to self -- put the card in the terminal and do not attempt to tap to pay in the future.
With 5G outrageous prices for often subpar food they have a lot of nerve asking for tips

I would say the same thing about any fast food place. And I don't find the food sub-par, even if I do find it overpriced.

Good news is my shop got approved, but let's see if they reimbursed me for the full $17.25 (which would still have me out of pocket over a dollar). I entered that number instead of the pre-tip amount. I did include the information in my report, but sadly ran out of characters before I got to say that it should not have worked that way when I touched the phone to the screen.

Bobby Flay's burgers in PHX airport terminal D was $25 for a double cheeseburger and shake. that is with NO fries or soda. I did not want to go any higher.

I wish I had gone to 5 guys with my own money first :-P

Airport food is always overpriced. However I believe DFW (Dallas) has implemented a program to bring the prices more in line with non-airport prices.

However I haven't flown out of DFW for over 10 years so the program should be fully implemented by now.

My first experience with 5 Guys was at ORD, the airport in Chicago and I @#$%& my pants when I saw the amount of fries in a regular order.
Actually, PHL requires that every retail store and restaurant charge "street prices". So a 5G at PHL would be required to charge whatever the closest 5G out on the street charges.

The closest Bobby's Burger to PHL is in Harrah's Casino in Atlantic City, so that would presumably be the "street price". In Harrah's, a "Crunchburger" would cost $12.99 which is much less than I expected before I just looked.

Too bad PHX and PHL do not have the same pricing rules. And just one letter different! smiling smiley
