Been doing these shops for a few years now, and just received my first "Samantha" offer. It was for a location that I had only shopped once before because it only makes sense to do if in downtown already. Ironically enough the dates listed on the "Samantha" offer fall within dates I was planning to be in the vicinity for a different event. Might just take them up on the offer.

If you don't take it immediately, there will probably be a better offer (unless someone else takes the shop). But if you're going to be there anyway and the price is right, it might pay to take it now.
So a few locations that I had done relatively recently showed up again the other day. But when I looked today, the shops were gone. I wonder if they had made a mistake offering them to me too soon? For at least one of them, I see the delivery shop, so it's not like they all of a sudden banned me from doing the location.
I might start picking these up again..but have started a diet..maybe you all have mentioned it but is there a way for them to accomodate think I saw something about a veggie sandwich? Whats in that and any idea if they still allow for it

Veggie sandwich is definitely allowed. It's basically a burger without the patty. You can add any and all veggies that you want. Default is lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, mushrooms and green pepper. I do extra mushrooms, jalapeños instead of green peppers, and hot sauce. And pickles on the side. Very tasty (at least I think so).

And not to mention, it's about the only thing you can buy these days to stay within the reimbursement allowance!

I've started eating more heathily, plus I have medically necessary dietary restrictions. I do a lot of Five Guys shops and have found, after studying the nutrition information inside out and backwards, that the healthiest option is a little burger in a bowl. The patty has 302 calories, 17g fat, 50g sodium. In comparison, the veggie sandwich without cheese has 280 calories, 15g fat, and a whopping 1040g sodium. If you add cheese, it ends up 420 calories, 21g fat, 1350g sodium. I love a grilled cheese and tomato, but it's not healthy, either. And, of course, the carb count is way higher with the sandwiches. I have to watch both my carbs and my sodium, so the sandwiches are death to me! LOL. The fries are terribly unhealthy, so I try to not eat too many of them and bring what's left over home for my husband.

If you're just concerned with calorie count, the veggie sandwich is the lowest, but not by much, and I think that overall, the burger in a bowl is the healthiest thing you can get at Five Guys. Unless you're like my husband and son, who say that a burger isn't a burger without the bun! They laugh at me.

I don't follow the shop posting history of the shake scenario, but I do see some here in Southern California. Maybe it's a targeted approach instead of blanketing all locations. I don't really know, nor do I care, but I do see some, so obviously the scenario is still being shopped. Just maybe not at the same frequency or locations.

@MisterBill wrote:

Has anyone else noticed that the shake shops seem to be gone? The delivery shops haven't had one recently, and the in-restaurant shops for the next month (for the locations I'm in rotation for) don't have anything other than $15.45 reimbursement.

Yes, I did one shop this week and the veggie sandwich, little fries and regular drink was $15.21.
I received a call from a scheduler who was not my normal one. I answered because it was the same number. I don't know if the scheduler was new or if my normal scheduler has my expectations set high, but new scheduler was awful.

My regular scheduler called while I was on the phone with newbie. I got my weekend shops scheduled successfully.

Here's the dumb thing about this. Of the four shake shops I see posted, at least one of them is a location that doesn't have shakes! I knew that was a thing when they were blanket posting them, but if it's supposed to be a more targeted approach, you would think they would know which locations don't have shakes.

I've become a fan of a lettuce-wrapped burger. It has extra crunch without any calories.

Next month's delivery shops are posted and have a shake. Since I never manage to get it once it gets raised to $10, I decided to take it for $5.

Also, for those lucky enough to be able to order a sandwich, fries and drink for under $15 and cannot order direct from the FG site without padding your order (or getting a larger size of something), this gets you over the minimum.

The location I did today will go through a 10 day remodel starting tomorrow. I wonder if other locations will follow suit.

I tried one once, but it got very messy. Or maybe I'm just not very coordinated! Knife and fork work best for me so I don't end up with food down the front of my shirt!

I just had the strangest thing happen. A Five Guys shop near me that's always hard to fill and almost always goes to MAO status showed up yesterday at $30, with MAO. So, naturally, I made an offer of $1 more than the listed fee. Usually that will go through. I'd have been happy with $30, but why put it on MAO if you're not willing to pay more?

Anyway, I log in today and see that my offer was declined and that the fee is now listed at $25, with MAO. So I made another offer. We'll see if it gets accepted.

I admit I was surprised to see the $30 fee on the board. I've gotten that for that location, but never as a posted fee. I'm wondering if that was a mistake on the MSC's part.

The MSC seems to be having trouble filling shops in my area and beyond in general. I'm getting Samantha offers for shops 45 miles away and that have been sitting for awhile. The low starting fees are part of that, but even when the fees get up to acceptable, they sit.

I would have MAO of $33 so if it was rejected I could have lowered my offer $3 to the posted $30. But I agree it doesn't make sense if it was MAO and they wouldn't accept $31.

I'm seeing fewer MAO around me and there are 13 shops listed at one location near me. The other location near me only has 1 delivery shop at a $5 fee. I had recently shopped that location for a $30 fee, so I understand why I'm not seeing any shops for that location right now.
I don't bother with MAO any more. My scheduler always gives me a better fee.

It's hit or miss with me. I've had pretty good luck with MAO. I rarely pick up the phone when the schedulers call, but when I do, I usually get a good fee from them, too. But I dislike the back and forth that sometimes happens when you're on the phone with a scheduler. Reminds me too much of car shopping. "Let me check with my manager." LOL.

I almost never get a Samantha offer that's worth taking. I did once, but someone else must have taken it before I could log in and grab it!

I really think the $30 posted fee with MAO was a mistake. I've never seen a base fee that high for that location. I sometimes used to get over $40 for it, back that was back in the "good-old days." No more.

I've seen it once when it was a past due shop. But if I ever saw it posted for that price, I'd take it immediately and not mess around with an MAO for a dollar more. Because once you get that price, you can ask for it going forward.

Good point. I wonder what would have happened if I'd just taken it at $30. Would they have come back to me and tried to get me to take a lower fee by saying the posting was a mistake? I don't think they could do that. I offered $1 more because I've found that will always get you the job (assuming the increased base fee was acceptable). If I see that again, I'll just take it!

I've ordered burger-in-bowl twice in the last month at 2 separate locations and both times the cashier quizzed me as to whether it was preference or if I was ordering it that way due to allergies. I am curious as to why this happens. I would think ordering it with a bun (gluten) or ordering their fries (peanut oil) would be more likely to trigger that question if that were, in fact, any of their business.
It's a common question for restaurants to ask. If the answer is allergies, precautions against cross-contamination should be taken. I sure would think that anyone with peanut allergies would know to avoid Five Guys. Most, if not all, Five Guys even have signage somewhere advising customers to not take peanuts to-go, also due to possible allergic reactions.
If you were ordering due to preference, they could make your order with standard process.

Yes. If they made a mistake, they can cancel the shop. They may or may not offer it to you at a lower fee; most often they just cancel it with a nebulous, or no, reason.
