Now what do I do - I'm getting called back by the person I shopped - to buy

I'm new. I finished an assignment to learn / sign up for Medicare Advantage from UHC. I said no, but 2 months later (it's Annual Enrollment), the agent is calling me wanting me to sign up with him. How do I get him off my back, nicely? I actually already have a plan that he doesn't sell, but I had to say I didn't have a plan.

Tell him that you decided to sign up with a competitor. Same as telling a car dealer that you bought an Audi instead of a BMW. Done.

No need to argue or discuss details. You made the decison, Dohne.

Use a google number and send the calls to email.

You didn't have a plan two months ago. You have one now.

Block his number if that doesn't work.

Never give out your number.

Yeah; two months later is plenty of time for you to have chosen and enrolled in a plan. Very natural to just say you went with a different plan.

I learn something new every day, but not everyday!
I've learned to never trust spell-check or my phone's auto-fill feature.
Medicare rules are pretty specific for agents. They can not call you without your written authorization--which you may have given at the seminar in the form of a contact card. Once you ask that they stop calling, they are required to do so. Asking that he not call again as you have gone with a competitor plan should be the end of it.

Did you do a formal or informal event? Or a kiosk? I used to love the formal events, less pressure and they had free buffet dessert or nice snacks. smiling smiley
Assignment was to call an 800# for an appointment. I spoke with someone and he set up an appointment for me. The assignment included this appointment. We met and he went over several plans. I didn't make a decision. He gave me literature and said he may get back to me. It's now Annual Enrollment, and he is calling. I had his number on my phone but when he called I had his name (so I knew him somehow) but didn't remember who he was until too late. I put him off and he was to call me today. So I won't be answering.. will block his #. Thanks.
Just tell the agent that you decided to go with another company. It happens all the time. That will end it. No need to discuss why, how, or anything else. "I selected a different company. Thank you for your time. Good-bye."
