I find it interesting how you project and mirror, posting about yourself. Anyone can search your name and see your posts where you are griping about not getting paid, so how is that lying? You definitely are a troll, you speak the truth about yourself there and there is no doubt about that.

I griped about not getting paid and not getting paid on time. Since when in the history of mankind has complaining about no pay or late pay or low pay a criminal offense or crime? I told the truth that I did a lowly Panda Express shop today for 4 dollars. That is what us honest people do. We tell it like it is even if it leaves ourselves not always in the brightest light. It is called the truth. Spell it T R U T H!
I am glad you can spell 5-letter words. And it's the truth that you keep shopping at low fees for a company that you complain about constantly. I think you spend more time griping about MSCs than you do actually trying to build a business. Of course if you have been doing this for 8-years and still aren't making money, it's evident why.
Why take a 4.00 job or do you like to continue being SoBroke.....I wouldn't touch it unless I loved the food, and if I took it knowing what they paid, my bad, I certainly wouldn't then complain, I'd stop taking the low ball jobs.....TRUTH...note, you alone are in charge of what's happening to you.....more TRUTH. You must love to be used......TRUTH.

Live consciously....
I wonder if Sobroke is taking his CATNAP right about now, along with his other forum alter egos.

The endless insults I have endured for bringing these lies to light are a small price to pay.

It's probably something you've grown accustomed to from your day-to-day life anyway.

I mystery shopped a Panda Express for lunch today and my fortune cookie said "COURAGE AND OPTIMISM ARE YOUR BEST TRAITS."

You can't beat me down with your lies and smears!

By the way for you honest readers out there I did not make $60 dollars an hour mystery shopping the Panda Express. I made $4 dollars and a free meal and they don't even give you enough for a soda! This shop is a real stinker unless you like the Panda.

Okay. That's not logical though. I went to Target and got $4 for taking a picture of mouthwash. I also just scheduled a car shop for $65 that's on the way home from work.

What shops are you taking? If Panda and 5 Guys, of course you won't see any real money. You could even get a $25 bonus on 5 Guys though. If all of yoir jobs are the low paying ones, of course you won't make money.

Last summer, I scheduled a bunch of car shops and an Apple shop and made around $500-$600 that day. Now, that was one day. I have never had a day like that since. I make $500+/day normally though with my day job, so I am not as motivated with the mystery shopping. It's possible to make this much though. (Three graduate degrees and 14 years at my job).

From what I have seen on this forum, the real money comes from route shopping and video shops. The day I made $500 mystery shopping, I drove about 200 miles round trip. My car gets like 70 mpg, so it's not a big deal. My last car like this I still have and it has 485k miles on it.

I don't know why you insist on calling people liars. Maybe you haven't figured this out yet. That's not anyone else's fault.

Also, some of this might be your background. It makes no sense since I really don't need the money like other people do, but who do you think they will send to LV, Gucci, Chanel, or to a Lambo dealer? I get those shops (well, the husband gets the Lambo etc since they won't take women). Those shops usually pay well. I already have a relationship with these stores. I don't stick out.

The other part is your reliability and relationships. I get calls and emails for shops that need to get done. These usually pay well. I got a call today for a promo shop that the MSC needed done like yesterday. The money was pretty good, around $50 for 20 minutes at a store. I don't have the time though. I'm heading home today.

Yes, I agree. Maybe someone will read this thread and get an idea how to make money doing this. There have been lots of people who have posted useful information, so if I can add anything I have learned, I will.
I thought they would have the employee's consent form as part of their new hire paperwork. It sounds like here you're saying each individual interaction has to be asked for permission?
No, not each interaction. In the states where both parties to an audio recording must consent, the employees sign that consent as a condition of employment. The video is NOT the legal issue; only the audio is.

If you do a 15 minute shop that pays $15, you're earning $60 / hr technically, if you only shop one location. Travel between locations is going to lower that hourly, but if they're phone shops, that is a true 60 an hour. I've done it. I'm sure many of you others have, too. What I think the trolls may be getting at is a consistent income, 40 hrs / week at rate for an annual income of $120,000. Do I do that? Hell no. Do you? I don't know, do you make that much just on ms alone?
Friday at 5PM, I was in a hurry as usual, realized I had not eaten all day and Panda Express was the first fast food I saw. Stopped, bought a plate, the orange chicken was too hot for me, the soft noodle chow mien was either not cooked enough or old so I ate the teriyaki chicken, some broccoli and left. Saturday morning realized I had food poisoning. No more Panda Express for me.

Oh just put all the good advice on a little slip in a fortune cookie and maybe those who scoff at it will listen.

I do not recall anyone saying they earn $60 an hour mystery shopping hour after hour 8 hours a day, 5 days a week for the entire year. That was just someone else doing the math and making an assumption. I did see some who spent 12 hour days driving to do that on some of their shopping days. And I saw lots that live within many hours of driving distance in bonus land at bonus times of the month who can do that. And a few city dwellers who have built connections. From a big city person who is just a shopper most jobs here pay well below minimum wage and require a long driving times (not distance) between shops or a dedicated person who is registered with enough companies to spends the day at one mall where they have found a long list of shops from various msc. and have pre spent a lot of time registering and checking those msc daily to set up a route within a few blocks big city so they do not have to drive in and out of pay parking lots etc.

hahahaha I did a Panda Express yesterday. I'm 20 years in. I had to eat. I eat every day. Usually 3 x a day.
6 minute report. I don't even count that as work. It took me longer than 6 minutes to eat it.
I think the best way to fight "trolling" is to just ignore the posts. Pretend there is no post. The reward the troll receives is our reaction.
This is why we exchange recipes; feed ourselves, not the trolls.

I have a regular 1000 mile route that pays about $1500. Most of that $$ is tax sheltered in travel expenses. It's not $60/hr, but it's my bread-and-butter. I also spend 2-3 weekends a month doing a much shorter route of $15 audits that take 15 minutes each. So while not every day is $60/hr, many are.

6 minute report x $4 = $40 / hr. No, it's not 60 but it aint bad. I'd take that over whatever job hoju thinks pays well.

Lol, If I could do enough Panda Express to create a measurable $60/hr I'd take that too. I'd also be featured on My 600-Lb Life.

We've all seen the tv ads where people claim to have lost an incredible amount of weight, or the real estate ads that guarantee a huge return on flipping houses. Maybe you even know someone who tried and succeeded. But if you read the small print, it says that the results aren't typical.

Mystery shopping is no different. The amount of effort you exert, your location, your willingness to step out of your comfort zone, are all factors in your success. Some people will give 110%, while others just do enough to get by. Some shoppers are going to make those "fantasy" sums, while some will make enough for the weekly Starbucks, or the kid's allowance.

Not once have I read where MF J, or anyone else has said that anyone can make the big bucks. What he, and a few others have said is, "Hey, this is what I do, maybe it will help you, too." It is then up to the reader to put in the work and give it a go, or continue on as they are. Take the advice, or don't. But if you don't, don't come here and expect people to jump on your pity pony. How do you know it's not possible, if you haven't tried?

It sounds to me like the OP needs to dry their tears, wipe their nose, and put their big britches on. Life is neither fair, nor equal. Don't be jealous of the few who prosper, just because you can't. Don't spread your hate to the rest of us. Do you, move on, and be happy.

Edited to say, thank you to all of the experienced shoppers who care enough to share their experience. I live in a rural area, and the number of shops in my town are extremely limited. If it wasn't for this forum, and the free advice, I would never have considered route shopping. Expanding my area increased my profits by 50%.

The first post in this thread simply states:

"I haven't been on this board for a long time. My advice to new shoppers would be to take what some seasoned shoppers say they earn with a grain of salt."

For giving that sage and sound advice the poster is told that they have tears that need to be wiped and a snot nose? Seems a little harsh don't you think? Good thing there is not a button on this forum that the crazies could click on and shock or mace all the posters they do not agree with. LOL!
I would just like to remove the stigma from high, medium, and low earnings. No shopper is better or worse than another based upon their earnings from mystery shopping. It is wonderful that some shoppers have more opportunities at hand and that others do not need significant income from mystery shopping. It is wonderful when we have fabulous earnings moments and when we earn more or no longer need to earn from mystery shopping.

It's all good!

I disagree. I feel I’m a better person than 2broke, but not because of my earning level. Mostly because she seems like a terrible person all around.

You feel the need to lie and pretend you make $60 dollars an hour mystery shopping and you belittle others. Low self esteem is your middle name.
