I used to have a cat that I had named, "Peeve." She was my pet, Peeve.
Since I have been doing Mystery Shopping in the past year, I am grateful for the over one hundred pieces of email I am getting. Some companies are so generous with their email, I get six to eight versions a day, every day throughout the month, even when the jobs are halfway across the state and could offer me as much as $7.
There was a concept created in the 1970's called database marketing. If the agencies would have our addresses and our preferences, they could send us one email a week that would only have the sorts of jobs we wish to do. Shoppers would know that this was customized for them and they hadn't read it twenty five times in the past two days. They would also feel respected by the companies and want to work for them and have a long history.
Perhaps it's time for the industry to adapt some fifty year old technology that will save them time, be able to keep the better shoppers, reduce turnover, reduce confusion, and have a higher percent of the jobs they offer each month covered without the need for panicked phone calls and emails.
