Hyatt 2-night Brand Standards

No upgrade at all for me! I'm waiting on mine to be reviewed and I'm nervous. I didn't take pics of each individual towel, for example, just one towel. I took pictures of the labels, but not every single label on every single towel. Instead of a binder, the guest services info was on a tablet so I took photos of some of the screens but not all of the pages (like a menu that spans multiple pages). Plus it was a casino resort with a few different hotels on property. It was hard to gauge exactly which venue would be considered the "hotel's restaurant" and the "hotel's bar" because there was no lobby bar and multiple bars. I used the swim-up pool bar grinning smiley

I hope it all passes because I'd love to do another one.

I just got upgraded to Globalist today. Have been doing these as Explorist and really didn't get very many benefits so far outside of a 2 PM checkout....

SPG has a more liberal benefit policy IMHO, but I have a big out-of-country trip coming up, so I'm happy for the additional breakfast.
SPG is Marriott now and their upgrade policy is crappy compared to Hyatt. Globalist is VERY valuable for people who travel a lot and can actually find a Hyatt everywhere they travel (that's the hardest part).

The big benefit for Globalist is going to come in your upgrades once on property. That’s a nice score Steve. Congrats!

Hands down Globalist is far superior to Marriott/SPG Platinum Premier or whatever they are calling it.

On the other hand, the old SPG Gold was better than Explorist in my opinion.

SPG/Marriott = 50 nights for Platinum
(50% bump on points, 4 PM checkout, suites include some specialty suites, breakfast + welcome gift)

Hyatt = 60 nights for Globalist
(30% points bump, 4 PM checkout, limited suites, breakfast)

Outside of that, Hyatt just recently stated allowing award nights as qualifiers and habitually blacks out almost all holidays from award redemption. SPG has no blackouts for redemption.

SPG lounges have free liquor while most Hyatt ones have an honor bar and you are charged for the liquor. If you check the room categories that mark any decent suite as a "Premium" and exclude it from upgrades. Hyatt upgrades don't apply at any of the lower tier brands either.

Get into Gold vs Explorist and I think that's even worse for Hyatt. I'm still trying to spend the "generous" 4 club access awards they gave me since they didn't allow them for award stays until last month.

The one good benefit that Hyatt gives is free parking on award stays now...
Hyatt is a full breakfast and you can apply it to room service. SPG was a crappy continental or credit towards full breakfast. And doesn’t work at Ritz Carlton. If you get lounge access then it’s just breakfast there, which might be pretty good or might not.

Dude, what don't you get?

A few years ago, there was an Inspirato assignment. Did you get that?

You dodged a bullet if you didn't get Inspirato. They are still hounding my Linkedin page for me to re-sign with them!...and it was pretty shoddy.

@MickeyB, I didn't know that about room service. Westin & W always gave me the full breakfast.

The stay and the property, or the hounding through your LinkedIn page?

They stay was not as advertised by the client. I think they learned a lot by having the evaluations, but the MSC was the one not interested in continuing.

The constantly contacting me through every possible means makes me feel like they are desperate for clients.
It’s now been three weeks. This is stupid and unprofessional.

Agreed. This is the new normal for them. It shouldn't be too much longer. Keep us posted.

My Hyatt from 3 weeks ago just went through yesterday. I have one left that I checked out of 2 weeks ago.

When the point and status hit your Hyatt account at may all seem worth it.....but agreed that it's frustrating.
The points were nice. The lack of status upgrade made it not worth it, sadly.

I'm nervous about if they come back and ask questions when it takes this long. Of course I take notes but I'm not going to remember a single thing if they ask something I didn't take notes on. I'd also like to do another one, but want feedback on the first one so that I can learn from it.
I have done several hotel shops (some one night some two nights) for several MSC and they are all time consuming. I do them locally just to have a fun night away from home, but would never even consider doing them on vacation, far too much work and stress. There are some companies that are less picky than others, but generally they truly are a ton of work.
I recently did one for True Guest and I have to tell you that the feedback they gave me was amazing and super helpful, and they did not make me correct the things in my report they had a few questions after (maybe three) and I responded to them. It's definately good if you respond as quickly as possible. Then I got a page long email personalized on how I could do better in the future. It was not critical, but very constructive. They also did a one hour phone call with me as this was my first hotel shop for them, prior to doing it and it was amazingly helpful. Some of what they look for is different than other MSCs and they went over it all so it was very hard to miss things. On the other hand Coyle, was more difficult. They asked maybe 25 questions after the fact and wanted me to correct a ton of things in the report. I did not miss anything, but it was more sytlistic and where I placed things. I did not find their criticism as helpful patricularly since a lot of it was contradictory. What I recommend is that you have all your things printed out (and hidden of course) and on the morning of check out, you go through each section and make sure that you have done everything they asked, and if not do it then. That is what I do.
FINALLY- Over three weeks and I got a response. Got 31 questions, nearly all of them easily answerable. One photo request.
I'd say for future reference for anyone that wants to do these. ALWAYS use your flash on your camera. The white balance difference between some of the photos made colors hard to gauge.
Also, make a note of all of the sizes that you write down so you can later confirm the numbers that you put in the form.

All in all I would say this was not worth it. If I were elevated to Globalist, or even Explorist, it would have been.

Does anyone know if one is able to complete another audit of a property they've audited previously (for the same MSC) again?

Has anyone been assigned an audit of a property they had previously audited? Or, are these audits just like the MSCs other hotel/resort assignments, where if you've done it, you've pretty much burned that hotel "bridge"?

Many thanks in advance.
Also, what's the deal with "Easy shop of special travel agent program. Includes a 1 or 2 night stay."

If you've been assigned or completed one of these surveys; are they one or two nights?

Again, thanks in advance.

To answer both questions; Take any of these assignments you can get your hands on. They are a breeze and you basically get the Globalist benefits without being one. You keep the points for the stay + what you can get on your credit card since they are not reversed.

And since they are not reversed, you can do both types of evaluations at these properties. Normally, once they are reversed, you can never shop the hotel again. Since you are not evaluating any real standard, they allowed me to repeat a hotel with this program.

The number of nights allowed for each property is at the bottom of the shop notes. It's hard to notice if you are not looking for it. It should also specify the credit you are supposed to receive on property. I had a $100 credit and parking is covered by the client, so we were able to get a nice dinner charged to the room, & the free breakfast that comes with it. My cost for dinner was less than the shop fee (The credit was not supposed to cover gratuities but it did). Took less than 30 minutes to report. You need a check in-/out narrative and a few pics.
Oh this must be an evaluation of Privé. I've been wanting to check out a resort using that program.

Okay, here's another question - is there are rotation for the "regular" Hyatt brand standard audits?

Has anyone audited the same property more than once for the same type of audit? Or, are these assignments similar to this MSC's other hotel surveys, where once you review/evaluate a property, you can pretty much kiss it goodbye?

I'm looking at you, SteveSoCal.
I wish I could get another one of these. Now that I've done one, I think the next one would be a breeze. I'm on the fence about the travel agent one. Less cash pay, and the location is near me but not a place I'd want to go otherwise. However, Hyatt is doing a promo where I just have to stay one more time to get upgraded.
@Professional Guest wrote:

I was told that you cannot repeat the brand standard properties...but that said, you can do the travel agent one at one you have done the brand standard at...or visa-versa.

The travel agent one is a breeze if you don't mind the cash outlay and it's property you want to be at. If it's just one night, you basically get a free dinner and breakfast, so it might be worth it to bump yourself up a level.
