So a strip club near me is being mystery shopped and it seems the focus is basically being a drug and prostitution sting. Isn't that a bit above our pay grade?

I just got an email from them to do a male strip club, three lap dances, alcohol, entrance, and $80 pay. No asking for sex or drugs though.
Me too. I think that we are equidistant to that club as well if you are in NY and I am in CA.

Are they going to pay for a four hour flight to get there? I don't understand these ramdom emails we get.

I am not understanding why anyone would care what they think anyway.

I wonder what the MSPA would have to say about this.

That's a good question.

These shops are being done by a company who's President is currently on the MSPA advisory board and is a past president of MSPA too.

Definitely not paying for a flight. Some horny housewife will do this job. hahaha
Anyway, I am there about once a year for work, but I'm not spending my evening at that club.

There aren't any gangs that are exclusive to that area of New York. Any gangs you find in Queens, you'd find in any other borough including Manhattan.

I think it's safe to say there are better and worse areas of each borough, yes?

The suggestion was that the club is in a rough part of town....
It's a rapidly gentrifying part of town. From what I know of the area this strip club is a remnant of what this neighborhood was a decade or two ago.

Still haven't been, don't intend to go, but I did get another email asking me to do it. I'm surprised the MSC is still working with this client.
I've actually been to this club before I was even a mystery shopper. My impression was that this club was more professional and more on the up and up then other clubs. It's actually in a fairly safe part of the city as well.

You'd think stuff like this would be left up to the authorities or, barring that, a private investigator's firm, not a bunch of mystery shoppers. I mean, those of us here like to think of ourselves as professionals, sure, but let's not kid ourselves and say we don't need many qualifications to start, nor are we necessarily known for our professionalism.

Some choice excerpts from the email:

"*Shopper will purchase a private room, ONLY if the entertainer agrees to sex, could be to meet after the club for sex"

"You are to observe to see if there are any drugs being used/provided in the club. "

EDIT: And I just got another email with the following addendum: "* Your stated race is African American"

This just looks scummy all around.

I have seen evaluation opportunities for strip clubs, but none in my immediate area.

I have met a lot of strippers in my role as a comedy show performer. They have all been really smart and nice and not scary. However, if a company thinks that prostitution might be going on, then that tells me that the people involved might be dangerous too.

A customer murdered a male employee of a nearby sleazy strip club last week. The women whom I have met were not working in sleazy clubs, but then again, we were not talking about prostitution.

I would not mess with that type of thing unless they give you a gun and badge.
