So a strip club near me is being mystery shopped and it seems the focus is basically being a drug and prostitution sting. Isn't that a bit above our pay grade?

Hahaaaaaaaa!!! You MUST do this shop! We all want to know what a receipt for sex looks like and how you obtain it. Bahaaaaaa!

I am sure that they don't expect a written receipt..... You need to take a picture - being careful to not get noticed, of course!

Maybe we are looking at this all wrong:
It is very common for us, on shops, to make sure that stores have certain products on display and that their employees use suggestive selling techniques so as to maximize the client's profits. Perhaps, the client wants to verify that drugs, in fact, are being sold and that sex, in fact, is being offered to all customers. They might even be concerned about gender, age, and weight discrimination........................................................................

Except for the fact that the follow-up message to the OP implies the requirement for the shopper to be African-American.....
I am under the impression that African-Americans have sex from time to time and that some use drugs....

I'm going to put my experience with gas station shops to use. I think a selfie with your arm around the hooker, escort, dancer would solidify the shop. Just from the neck down of course.
Photos are frowned upon in most strip clubs.

At least that's what I hear.

And after the entertainer agrees to sex and you have purchased a room do you go through with it and report on the quality of service? Do you have to ask for a receipt?

And what about a photo of the entire front facade with no customers or scanning a business card?
And what if you "lose" your receipt? MSC:" Please provide proof you had sex with the stripper without your receipt." tongue sticking out smiley
Wouldn't the selfie of you and the stripper with the authorized ID badge taped to your chest suffice? You could discretely hold the LOA over any body parts you want to hide, if you are shy.

@Misanthrope; Don't confuse illegal with stupid. The minute you ask for a receipt nobody is going to offer sex.

The main purpose of the assignment is supposed to be making sure the girls aren't offering anything they are not supposed to, which can get them shut down.
Maybe this is the point. The club owner wants fifty mystery shop reports stating that the girls did NOT offer sex to contradict someone else's assertion that they did.

I definitely got the impression from the other assignment I got roped into with the MSC that they designed the shop to only achieve positive results by giving the shopper away....which smacks of the manager ordering the shops to please an owner.

Why ask for a shopper to fit the demographic of the club patrons then?

It seems more inept than savvy here. The cub in question has been shut down for prostitution before, and clubs like this do find ways to provide liquor & drugs to guests, so my guess if that it may be more like other other MS assignments where they are prepping the staff for visits by the authorities. The owner wants to be sure the staff are well behaved so they can stay in business. I just don't think that ATF or the Vice squad ask for receipts, so I'm leaning toward inept.
Dammit. I've been keeping up with this thread and now Ashley Madison ads are showing up all over my websites.

Good cover! winking smiley

(Only kidding)
This is one of those situations IMO that tarnishes the reputation of the MS industry and not just the stripper club part - it's these shops that are way off base - really? evaluating a potential sexual situation where there are drugs involved? really? and what is the fee, like $25? LOL This reminds me of the shop to perform a food safety inspection using the same or similar techniques as a professional food inspector. To my way of thinking, these sort of shops are nothing more than a way to skirt the usual regulations and fees involved in other, more highly trained professions. When did shoppers become trained food inspectors or undercover detectives in potentially illegal situations? We're not and to ask us to do these is a smack in the face - like we are just a cheap labor force. Maybe we are, but I am not going to perpetuate it. I don't get paid to take on any potential complications. I get paid for a one and done. I think that MSCs with shops that carry an extraordinary amount of potential risk or complication should be called out. If not here, by the shoppers organizations. There are so many other, better ways of making side money. Join one of the clubs where people trade tips on bank bonuses...they are lucrative, take very little time, don't have to leave the house, no risk unless you are not detail oriented.....but then if you were not detail oriented, you would not be MSing.

Most of you are either overthinking this or have never been to a high-class Vegas strip club. The "dives" usually do not pay to have their clubs mystery shopped. The girls are in it for the money, and performing illegal acts would get them banned from working the club and possibly get them prosecuted. It is much cheaper for the club to pay mystery shoppers to "sting" the workers than it is for them to have to close the club while the cops investigate a customer's allegations of illegal activities by the strippers. BTW, these mystery shops pay well, and every legal Nevada mystery shopper is working under a licensed PI.
I wonder what the MSPA would have to say about this.

AZ, the club in question referenced by the OP is in Queens and is not performed under the direction of the Vegas PI. It's simply routed through the Vegas office (which also seems like another attempt to save $$, since other Vegas firms have employed me to shop casinos in CA through their PI).

If it was one of the pricey clubs in Manhattan you could possibly make the comparison to Vegas. It's my understanding that this club is nothing like what you find in Vegas.
That's too bad. Sometimes a little regulation is good. I guess I never read where the OP said the location was in NY. I've never been to NY, so I cannot comment on that area.
This place is an absolute mess. I wish I could post an article, but the MSC has been mentioned.

They are in a rough part of town and are known for drugs and gangs and having an "anything goes" atmosphere where the cops look the other way most of the time.

Don't go to this place.

That's a good question.

These shops are being done by a company who's President is currently on the MSPA advisory board and is a past president of MSPA too.
Will the MSC bond you out of jail if you catch a solicitation charge doing this shop? Is there a Letter of Authorization lol?
I just got an email from them to do a male strip club, three lap dances, alcohol, entrance, and $80 pay. No asking for sex or drugs though.

Sooo... Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

There aren't any gangs that are exclusive to that area of New York. Any gangs you find in Queens, you'd find in any other borough including Manhattan.

I think it's safe to say there are better and worse areas of each borough, yes?

The suggestion was that the club is in a rough part of town....

Me too. I think that we are equidistant to that club as well if you are in NY and I am in CA.

isn't that illegal???????

I saw that. It happens to be in a city where another MSC needs and airport shop so it could be tempting for certain people! Just kidding. I was telling my friend though, the job comps one person. They should comp two as if it were a dinner. What woman would go to a club alone? I think it would be funny to do the shop for the story, I even have a friend getting married and this could be a bachelorette party. but I wouldn't force my guest to spend $25 just to get in the door.
