Was told I am not longer allowed to perform a shop because I brought two kids with me? I don't even have kids.

So, I went to apply to one of my favorite little lunch shops a couple of days ago. It's a full meal reimbursement really ($35) and you can take a guest. Well, when I clicked the shop and it said it was no longer available to me, I am ineligible, and to contact the MSC for more information... I decided to send an inquiry.

The response I finally received? I was told I was no longer allowed to do these shops because the client reviewed video footage and I brought two small children with me on my last visit. Ummmm, I don't have kids, and I certainly didn't just bring a couple of random ones to work with me.

I wrote back explaining this (not in those words) but was told after reviewing the footage, the client isn't budging because I brought kids. HELLO -- here's my headshot. Here's a photo of my husband and I in street clothes. This is who you're looking for... Who did you watch on video 'cause it wasn't me. I was polite and all through the entire process and haven't heard a peep back since. Meh. The shop only pays $12 but it reimburses enough to pay for a full meal for two and dessert. Someone flupped up.

Crikey! (AS our British cousins would say.)

Based in MD, near DC
Shopping from the Carolinas to New York
Have video cam; will travel

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
I was polite with the person who was emailing back and forth with me. If a client makes a decree, it's not exactly the MSC's fault. Definitely was expecting a response more along the lines of ... I was outted, caught looking at name tags, looked suspicious during a restroom check, ordered a weird item, come in awfully close to when mystery shops are... something like that. Not that I had two small kids running around with me and a lunch shop :/

I am noticing many errors on the part of the MSC lately. I am assigned two jobs, got a reminder email, went onto site and they don't show up. This is weird, scheduler tells me she see's jobs, why don't I....MC that is weird, videoing the wrong person, they must have have a description of you.....hope they admit to their error.
No one to stick up for shoppers....ugh

Live consciously....
Was it a favorable report? If not, this would not be the first time a manager lied to get rid of a shopper.

MSC's are so afraid of making waves with their clients, the person you were emailing with probably never went back to the client the voice your concern.

Seriously, nobody cares that you're offended.
Yeah, they are not likely going to argue with the client and go to bat for you, in fear of losing the account. That stinks.

Hmmm I'm wondering that too.

maybe it was that vlogger from utube from another thread. i think someone posted that she had video & two small kids were running around in it.
OP: Did your report have any negative comments? The store might have said that you had two kids and other false information, to get your report thrown and the person that reported you had two kids... was not telling the truth. The client won't budge, that tells me there is someone not being honest here.... (and I don't mean you.) and there is more to the story. smiling smiley
I had this happen to me on a grocery shop. I had to get the names of each employee who didn't greet me. Hardly any of the employees greeted me. The grocery store said that the person working in the pizza area wasn't on the floor during my visit and there wasn't anyone with the name in the deli department with the name I had given.

The msc said that the client reviewed the tapes and stated I was wearing a pink hat. I don't even own any hats and would never wear a pink one. They also said I had on pink sneakers. I do have a pink pair of sneakers but I wore a pair of uggs that day specifically not to stand out.

I told the msc that they were lying and if the associate wasn't on the floor, how could I accurately describe them and provide their name. I also stated that the employee in the deli department probably used someone else's name tag or they were covering the department, either way my report was accurate. I was banned from that location for 7 months. Needless to say, I wasn't paid for the shop either.
There were some dirty tables that weren't cleaned/bused before we left, a bit of a wait for apps, and a few name tags missing. It also took a while to get drinks. It's been a little bit since I did this one and I was looking forward to trying it again. I did it through the ISS platform. Nothing too terrible all in all, but not an outstanding performance either.

With video surveillance I am super hard to miss! I am a taller woman at 5'8" and I have over 3 feet of hair. Even when I'm trying not to stand out, people immediately remark on my hair. If anyone happened to see the pics of my kitties, you could see how long my hair is and that it's sitting in my lap. That alone sorta stands out. It stinks when we know we're in the right, they're in the wrong, and we don't wanna mess with our income flow. Ugh.

i i was thinking that op was from tx. the higher the hair the closer to god.
Haha. I'm from WV, live in KY and definitely keep it more down. It's usually in a back pony, a braid, or just hanging out. On occasion, I'll use a twisty bun to pull it up. I bet if I got some sort of wire apparatus...

MegglesKat
HA! That would be funny I bet. Chicken wire, LOL. You could form it into a cone and wrap your hair around it. Boy wouldn't you stand out like a sore thumb. Bet your hubby would be speechless and mouth agape.

More like cousin It? Just teasin'.
MountainCacher88,Have you shopped this location before? Many times? Were they error free?

It's one we went to every 60-90 days. I had done the shop a handful of times. I keep pretty good, thorough notes. I definitely didn't make the error of not remembering I took two random kids with me.

MegglesKat
That's tough. The msc should show you the tape. I have no doubt you are telling the truth. It just goes to show that we don't really have much recourse with the msc. If we tick them off, they can ban us. It's tough because how can we know this won't happen again with the msc not backing you up?
I wasn't being mean about the cousin It reference. I figured you are probably too young to get the Addams family reference. I was thinking about how I look when I straighten my hair and comb it all down in my face, LOL (my hair isn't 3 feet long but it's waist length). When I dry it naturally people have said it looks like Robert Plant's hair did back in the 70's.
I've definitely been exposed to the Addams Family. I grew up watching Green Acres, Petticoat Junction, All in the Family, Sanford and Son, I Dream of Genie, Mr. Ed, Dukes of Hazard, ... black and white films, Bonanza, Dallas, and so forth and so on. I've seen a few episodes of the original Addams Family and the Munsters tongue sticking out smiley

Definitely agree about arguing and limited recourse at times. I've learned (and sometimes the hard way) that we can only ask so much of our companies before they get fed up and blacklist us. Some of the experiences posted on here leave me with few surprised moments anymore.

I thought I heard it all until you said they had you on tape with children. I am guessing that this must have been a shop where you order at the counter. How else would thet get you on tape. If their timestamp is wrong on the tape, they have more problems than missing nametags. I am sorry this happened to you.

LOL. At first I thought the post ^^ said "ghostly." Maybe there are spirits on the video. Child ghosts all dressed in pink sneakers and hats.
I've been waiting all day for a shopping alert from an MSC for the return portion. Yet to receive it. Go figure.

Do not read so much, look about you and think of what you see there.

That really could be it -- a time stamp issue. I even sent a head shot of myself and the husband. He's bald and I'm a walking wig . We aren't hard to spot. No reply today :/ Probably a lost cause. *sigh*
