Ridiculous Mystery Bonus

I meant no harm in sharing my recipe, Austinmom. I welcomed the chance to lighten the mood after a long day. I sincerely apologize that you (or anyone else) might have been hurt by it. MSC's are people too. smiling smiley Have a fabulous day!

Mary, it's been a long-standing practice on our forum to "lighten the mood" by posting recipes after posts by a troll.
I know! And boy, did I personally appreciate the levity. Somehow we've got to turn around the train of thought that MSC's don't care about shoppers. Personally, I enjoy my job, and even enjoy the opportunity to resolve shopper complaints. I don't enjoy seeing a co-worker that I love dearly be torn apart for doing something we felt was a kindness. There's a disconnect - I get it. And I'm sorry anyone feels negatively about any decision we have made. But it makes for a tough day in the office, for sure. smiling smiley I will go back to my Accounting corner now.

D, this had been settled. It was over. Hope the enchiladas turned out better than the scolding.

as usual, the people who dished up the insults and accusations once again turn on the person who tried to get them to see reason. I tried to stop you from crucifying Tony Lorenzini, too, and nobody apologized to him either just like I don't see many apologies to Erika now.

As for the smart ass remark that suggested I'm trying to get the $50 bonus ... I can't even try for it because there are no shops here anyway. I had no personal motivation to try to stop this from turning into a "let's bash Ace" feeding frenzy. I've done maybe two shops for Ace, ever. I stood up for Erika because it was the right thing to do. you all saw disrespect and manipulation; I saw a nice gesture. but sure, I'm the bad guy here. You had only the best of intentions when you ripped another human being up one side and down the other because she dared offered you extra money for doing a shop.

Things were so much nicer a few weeks ago when the bullies had all taken their ball and left the sandbox.

"This idea should be taken out behind the barn and shot"??? This is what we say when someone offers us a bonus but wants the amount to be a surprise? This is a suggestion you all "like"?

Something here should be taken out behind the barn and shot, but it's not a kind gesture from an MSC that deserves that fate.

If you don't want to play, just don't play, okay? if you don't want the bonus, don't do the shop. Why attack the MSC for offering just because you think the offer wasn't good enough for you?

You dare say that wasn't a "hateful" remark?? Take it out behind the barn and shoot it?? Where's the love in it, because i'm not seeing any. Whether you think it hateful or not, it was disgustingly rude. And that's MY opinion. If you can express yours, I can express mine.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
I agree you should be able to express your opinion, regardless of how hateful it is. I think you are off base and that you are a bully. And that's MY opinion.
dspeakes, you've lost your temper again and it's not working any better for you now than in the past. Regardless of what your opinion may be on the subject, once again you've expressed how little you think of us. I went back through the entire thread, reading each post carefully, and I can truthfully say it was an interesting thread. I thought many posters made pertinent and insightful comments both pro and con, but you expressed a high degree of outrage and frustration and did not make a kindly presentation of your disapproval.

Your behavior posting temperamental and vicious attacks on the open forum leads me to believe you are not qualified to represent your fellow shoppers and you certainly lack the qualifications to instruct them on behavior. You will not be able to influence others until you get yourself under control.

Those types of bonuses used to be given all the time to car sales persons. Intermittent variable rewards are more effective than steady state rewards.

Of all the oil changes, this company pays the best fee. And I've done $31.00 shops. Pays quickly as well. So if they want to entice me with a little extra. Right now I'm rounding up friends and families vehicles to use.

Does anyone know when you will see the bonus? I thought I read that it would be added after the shop was completed, but it's still showing just the base fee.
I believe you will be receiving an email from Erika. You can also check your disbursement history under "my settings." Shoot Erika an email, and she can tell you what I might be missing. It's scheduling@acemysteryshopping.com.

Have a great day!

Thanks for the response, Mary! The disbursement history is where I looked, but it didn't show the bonus. I'll check with Erika smiling smiley
Seems it would just be easier and waste less time to just offer a worthwhile fee or bonus and eliminate game playing. If I do not know what the complete compensation will be that diminishes any interest I may have in the shop.
Swilli - The base rate was enough for me to take the shop anyway; I wouldn't depend on an unknown bonus amount to put food on the table. Erika added the bonuses as a fun/nice gesture. Her response is above and it's worth reading to shed a little light on this whole turkey bonus thing.
Tlt14, I have a better answer for you, now that I'm in the office. Since she has to manually add those, they will be added this week (she wanted to get all the November shops in first). So if by Friday you don't see it there, please let her know. smiling smiley

Got the same e-mail...I replied that fun is a 5 minute shop, 1/2 page report with no narrative and between $40 - 50, not $1 - $50. She replied saying I have a bad attitude. I think it's the other way around. Can't believe these idiots. Who dreams this stuff up?

Idiot is a harsh personal attack when it was just something that seemed like a good idea. I'm not going to call someone names for trying even if I agree it was not a good idea.

I'd like to know where the threshold of money earned per year is to break the barrier to have to pay the penalty for not having Obamacare. I wont hit it this year, but could next year.

If only we had an accountant on the forum that I didn't completely offend on accident and feel like a fool for relying to his post without fully understanding his point.

P.S. This question is for a state that is under the national Obamacare rules and did NOT set up a state exchange.
In this county, there is a nonprofit organization where people can set up free appointments to talk about healthcare issues. Maybe there is one in your town.

Agreed. It's one thing to criticize an idea, but name-calling certainly crosses the line.
Scanman1 -

Here is a link to a very simple calculator: [www.healthinsurance.org]
You need to know whether you are married or not, the number of uninsured adults, and the number of uninsured children. Then enter a gross income. It will tell you whether you would owe a penalty or not.

I tried some gross earnings for an unmarried person with no uninsured children. There seems to be a minimum penalty of $325 no matter how low your gross income is. At $25,000 the penalty is still $325. At $27,000 the penalty is $334. The threshold for rising above a $325 penalty is somewhere between $26,000 and $27,000 so have fun with the calculator.

I'm living off savings and my only income this year was MS. I am grossly below the poverty line and if I calculate mileage, I did not make any money. I don't even think I should need to file this year.

I made a negative profit. If I'm audited, I have every receipt scanned and every report saved as well as the spreadsheet to show it.

I know I completely derailed this thread. If I'm very lucky dspeakes will chime in.
